Wayne's World (1992)
90s all the way.
Apr 2024
I never ended up seeing this movie but I knew of it. Watching it as a 30 year old to catch up on old movies. There were some pretty good one liners in there. I enjoyed the film for what it was. But its one of those "its so silly its good" kind of things. So I couldnt take it too seriously. Lol. It did make me laugh a few times. So I will give credit where credit is due.
There isnt much more to say. The movie for the most part still holds up today. Only a few jokes that might not be appropriate. I still need 78 characters so just deal with this meaningless sentence, okay? Lmao. There we go.
Suncoast (2024)
Can relate a lot
I honestly cried through this whole movie. I grew up in a very similar situation and had a brother pass away from complications due to meningitis. He lived for years not being able to walk or talk and was losing hearing. This was all around 2000 so very similar time period to movie setting.
This movie felt very accurate to my experiences. All the actors did a great job a portraying these characters and all their complex emotions. I kind of just wish there was more for the ending. It did kinda feel like "okay he's dead now. Let's wrap it up!" I would have liked to see more from what their life is like following his death. I know maybe that's a weird request lol. 😂 I guess the ending felt abrupt to me.
Damsel (2024)
I couldn't take the ending.
I wanted to like this movie. I ended up feeling like there was unused potential. My issue with some of the ending sequences was, the ending felt a little bit rushed. It also felt like it didn't make a lot sense. She uses fire to harm a fire-breathing dragon and that helps her make it out alive. I'm sorry but it just felt like a weird plot point. A fire-breathing dragon isn't going to be vulnerable to fire.. Is that too nerdy of me? Lol. Only other thing was Millie Bobbie Browns acting. I felt awkward a few times. It seemed like overacting. But maybe I'm wrong. Haha. I loved the cinematography. The scenery shots were fantastic.
Coneheads (1993)
Enjoyed it more than I thought I would
Given the silly nature of the plot, I always assumed I would find the movie a bit ridiculous; and it is--, but it was enjoyable for what it was.
An extraterrestrial couple becomes stranded on Earth and must adapt to life in 1990s America while awaiting a return vessel. Lots of social commentary about immigration and "illegal aliens," it is pretty witty for what it's worth. I think it has a lot of nuance and there are parts that by todays standards come off as racist but I think that it's juxtaposed by the ridiculousness of trying to put an extraterrestrial being through the same system that is imposed upon actual human beings.
Comedy is as expected from SNL level humor in its prime. It offers a few good laughs. Overall not a terrible watch.
Pretty Little Liars (2010)
Beating a dead horse.
I will give credit where credit is due; the first few seasons of this show really keep you gripped- however I really think they dragged this story for as long as they could and it became a broken record. Who is A? Well after a bit it gets hard to care anymore. They could have ended it a few seasons earlier than they did, is all I'm trying to say. They even continued once the story was pretty much over and in my opinion the story of their college days just wasn't needed.
To each their own though.
