Office Invasion (2022)
Slow burner
I don't usually write reviews.
I gave this flick a 7/10. It's falls squarely into my category of 'Stupid' movies. This means I can just watch it without having to engage any brain gear - the reason I watch a movie is to unwind.
As a South African, I initially thought the boardroom scene wasn't doing the country any favours, but we've recently had a president who no doubt carried on in similar vein in government, until thankfully being ousted, and we laughed at him whilst he tanked the economy and institutions...
The pace picked up, the plot wasn't too bad and the burning question now is, "What is inside?"
Breach (2020)
Piss-poor performance
The special effects are like something out of early Star Trek episodes and the acting not much better. Thankfully we had a heavy duty sanitiser to save the day. Others have elaborated better on criticising the movie but the feeling is similar. Bruce...please stop doing crap.
Black Mission (2016)
Shockingly bad
I'm sorry... I've only watched about 15 minutes of this, which was in itself a massive undertaking. The first problem is the subtitles...white text which becomes lost in the movie background. The acting is very basic, of a quality reserved for starter class movies. As reading the English subtitles was in itself a mission, interest quickly waned. I've watched a lot of movies with subtitles, in four different languages that I understand, so I don't have a problem with the concept.
Shackleton's Captain (2012)
They don't make them like this anymore...
...the people, portrayed in the movie. It is certainly an interesting viewpoint from someone supporting the project sponsor. Same as any other business, if you wish to succeed, you need to surround yourself with people who can help you do this. The sponsor failed in his project, which we all learned about in school, but all the men who took part in it, were not losers, far from it. It was sad to see the closure information before the end credits, where some of these hardy Antarctic survivors didn't make it past the end of the war, that had started and overtaken them, while they were struggling for their lives in the icy desert.
Captain Fantastic (2016)
INTERESTING...cannot use that word!
This started out quite slowly for my liking, but about a third of the way in, I was really keen to carry on watching. It has noticeable cringe worthy moments when bones break, and dad is a prime candidate for a thumping, the ending I was hoping for, from the start of the road trip, materialised. Every guerrilla deserves to go out like a Viking, with a suitable modern take...
Hunters Lodge (2016)
Low budget 'who dunnit'
I gave it a 2 as I watched until the end...nothing better to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but at least I got to see the twist just before the credits!
Most of the action occurs in a Hunter's lodge out in the sticks. The building seems to be a TARDIS...small(ish) from the outside, but quite a intricate layout internally with fire safety evacuation signage throughout, like when found in a hotel or HMO.
