The Little Things (2021)
Tremendous actors lost in a script of Unbelievable Characters
Did you ever ask yourself how an oscar winning actor with undoubted talent, intelligence and credibility can decide to play in terribly bad movies?
This is a burning question as we see many examples like Robert de Niro, Meryl Strees, Ben Kingsley, Anthony Hopkins,
and the list goes on and on. Well this movie does not give an answer to the question, however it delivers a very good case
to be investigated. We do not have only one but in total three oscar winners putting their credibility at stake by borrowing
their faces to characters which have the originality of a dry bush strolling through Dodge city. We have the former
star detective now being a simple cop in a town to small to remember - due to dramatic incidents in his past. We have the young, intelligent,
overambitious and of course arrogant detective who needs this old colleague to find a serial murderer who seems to be somehow
connected with those dramatic incidents.
Last not least we have this serial murderer suspect who is despite his low-income job a psychopathic genius.
Are you still awake? Okay here is my last shot: The story, slowly build up over an hour or so focussing
on classical police movie detective work, is then dissolved by two of these characters going completely nuts
without any motivation to do so. Can screenwriters and producers feel ashamed because they consciously screw
their audiences? Can actors feel ashamed playing in bad movies? I think in both cases the answer must be yes.
The answer to my initial question: Even Oscar winners have to make a living, and they want to have a good living.
I think, that's fair.
So here is why you have to watch this movie: Allow Denzel Washington to keep having a good living and do enjoy his walk,
his smile, his voice, because that is in essence the only benefit you will get out of this movie - Fair deal or not? You decide.

Hidden gem - Fleabag before Fleabag from Germany!!
Excellent acting by each and every one, well-written witty dialogues, twist after twist - fantastic.
Heino Ferch and Martina Gedeck, parents of a big patchwork family, experience a marriage meltdown
on Christmas eve - in front of her as-well-invited ex-husbands and biological fathers of her children.
