Spaceman (I) (2024)

Not Everyone's Cup of Tea

Although I applaud Adam Sandler for taking on this heavy, artistic endeavor, the movie drags and lags to the point of almost being intolerable. After suffering through the entire film, you are left with little resolution, so the ending is not even satisfying. The main character does not show much depth/range, so we do not get to see Sandler stretch his acting chops as he was able to do in "Uncut Gems". Yes, it's a deep thought provoking film; but all that is lost out of shear boredom. Laughingly, the alien sounds somewhat like HAL 9000 in "2001:....."--I'm sorry, Dave". Altogether an ambitious film and attempt by Sandler that unfortunately falls short for a number of reasons.

One More Shot (2024)
4/10
4/10 is being generous. Barely watchable.

Huge fan of Berenger, Adkins and White; but, this film was so poorly written and the non-stop action scenes were shot in such a way as to make the viewer a bit car sick. Too many plot holes and inconsistencies to count and a rather abrupt, unsatisfying ending that left me wishing I had spent the time doing anything else. The anticipated fight scene with White and Adkins was disappointingly weak. Poor writing, poor directing and none of these stars were allowed to show their full potential. These guys are usually less wooden and enjoyable, and so it is not a complete waste of your time if you like these actors; but, it could have been so much more. The audience deserved more and so did the actors. If you did not watch this one, you did not miss much.

Very good acting, revenge done well.

A much different spin on the taxi driver hauling a killer around late at night scenario of "Collateral". Much more emotion and depth. Mark Dacascos is a truly underrated actor. He puts so much of himself in each role; and, Vanida Golten was quite good in her first role and I hope to see more of her in later films. Very good film. Slow in places; but, that helps the emotions build. Very much worth a viewing.

Death Valley Aliens (2020 Video)

I like UFO movies; but, this one was barely useful to help pass the time.

Wow. Two guys in the dessert with a LOT of conjecture and no answers. Their idea of sophisticated magnetic field detection equipment is an app on a cell phone. I did enjoy the petroglyphs and the sound and cinematography were adequate. Probably a very specific niche of UFO enthusiasts would enjoy it. My favorite line was at 47:30: "I'm glad I took my nap earlier, because I'm wide awake now". This film will definitely help the viewer take a nap. Mercifully, it was only 70 minutes long.

Suprisingly Bad

Do not waste your time. Depressing, slow moving film that has less to do with science fiction and more to do with the main character's abandonment issues. Good visual effects brought the rating up to 3/10.

Spaghetti Western meets Community Theater

Some funny parts and some chemistry between the actors; but, schizophrenic plot, stilted dialogue and slow moving 2 hours + run time make this not so great even by B movie standards. Not an entire waste of an evening, as it has some good and funny moments; but, the writer and director should be "Unforgiven"! LOL
