Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Wonderful!
I never got bored. Made me care from the get go. Performances were great. I read some people didn't like the ending. I like that it left hope but I could also see it cool that he could leave it open ended. However if he's staying true to the biblical meaning then those were the four horsemen and their sacrifice did save the world. I like that he took modern issues and combined them with biblical and religious elements leaving us at the end with something to hope for. The news today, whether you believe left or right is always divided. Night took that division and ended with hope. I applaud him for that!
Cohabitation (2020)
Return of the classic revenge thriller!
I live a good revenge thriller. They seem to go in cycles for some reason. If Cohabitation is any clue, they're trending back up! Well plotted, well directed and well acted, this thriller builds its tension in a classic style but with modern elements. Love the detective perspective to go with the lead character's journey. Really enjoyed this one!
American Mafia: The Rise and Fall of Organized Crime in Las Vegas (2021)
True crime... indie style!
I'm a huge true crime fan (which sounds morbid) but I'm fascinating by the criminal mind. This film does a great job of showing all the elements that come into play when it comes to the life of crime. Then add in the scene of Vegas and you have a fascinating mix. Job well done!
Extramundane (2022)
Creep and atmospheric
Creative title with a very creepy premise this was a well crafted story with solid performances. Beautifully shot especially considering this was made at the height of lockdowns. Excellent work here so if you dig a claustrophobic thriller this is for you!
Demon Fighter (2022)
Slick action horror film
Very slick action horror film with an intriguing premise and well choreographed fights! If you dig movies about cults give this a go. Looks good, cool story and nicely acted.
Bluff (2022)
Excellent crime thriller
Thank goodness indie filmmakers are still making good crime thrillers because we don't see enough of these. I believe a movie needs 4 things to be good, good story, good performances, look good and sound good. Bluff naiks all 4. Congratulations on a good film. I won't get into the depths of the story as I don't want to ruin anything for the audience. Basically if you like crime thrillers there's a good chance you'll like this one!
Cosmos (2019)
Feels like Spielberg!
Excellent drama and suspense with wonderful acting and filmmaking that had an absolutely Spielberg feel! Well done!
Infamous (2020)
Joshua Caldwell adds another nice film to his resume!
This is a well made thriller that emphasizes the addiction a lot of people have on the "importance" of social media. I enjoyed the film on all levels, writing, directing and acting. Cinematography and editing were top notch. Look forward to what Caldwell does next!
Reprisal (2018)
Solid action thriller
Good action thriller which is my favorite kind of film. Shot in my home city of Cincinnati! Bruce Willis has done a lot of these low budget action films that aren't very good but this one was. Enjoyed it!
The King (2019)
Excellent!
Excellent! Bit of a slow start but I see why it's popping up on top ten of the year lists. Michod is a director I'm just now discovering but really like his work.
The Rover (2014)
Slow burn but definitely burns well!
Very good slow burn thriller with really good performances! Very good performances and directing!
Night Hunter (2018)
Good thriller!
Really good serial killer thriller. Great cast. Couple of good twists too! Really enjoyed it.
Every Secret Thing (2014)
Nice slow burn mystery with excellent... everything!
Writing, directing, performances were all excellent in this slow burn, thoughtful mystery. Tough subject matter but handled very well.
Peppermint (2018)
Nice revenge thriller. Really good work by Jennifer Garner.
I love good revenge thrillers and this was a good one. Jennifer Garner was very good, as always, good direction from the director of Taken and a solid script. I really enjoyed the film! Nice work.
Negative (2017)
Excellent spy thriller
Loved this movie. Joshua Caldwell actually takes the time for the audience to get to know and understand the characters so you care about them once things get tense. Most Hollywood movies could take note. The action is well done, performances are spot on and I love the little details throughout the movie that add suspense and character. Most films like this would jump straight to the next location. Instead we get to see how things develop for the characters. Very well done, beautifully shot and excellent editing as well.
