Simply Charming

I really don't understand the negative reviews for this movie at all. I adore all the actors, so I went into this movie with zero expectations but enjoyment and I came out loving it and as far as I know, so did everyone else in the cinema - I live in New Zealand. Have movie reviewers all gotten so cynical and bitter that they just can't simply sit and enjoy a movie full of love and goodwill? Sigh. I don't want to say anything else except I never listen to the critics and don't you dare. Just go see it. Personally, this one goes under A Good Year for me, which the critics hated, but it is one of my goto movies for when I feel like the movie equivalent of a big, massive hug.

More than Watchable.

Without the chemistry btw its two leads, this movie would not have worked. Plus, the supporting cast of adults helped. This movie was better than it had any right to be.

Whitman has always been a talented actress. I look forward to her eventually getting some truly meaty movie roles.

I watched this on Amazon Prime, expecting nothing. I put it on the background while I was doing work, but then ended up watching it instead of doing my work. I thought the actors were natural and the story was sweet. It's really about friendship. And about kids trying to find their power to do things. I think it had several important messages. Perhaps kids wouldn't understand this movie fully until they grow up. I'm 44 and I thought it was a perfect movie for a Sunday afternoon and the alien was supercute.

Wondering at all the crap reviews...

Witty, Insightful, Intelligent, Contemporary, Stylish, Well-Written. I watched the movie again before I started binge-watching the series. Post-Racism. Aha. The biggest sign that we aren't Post-Racism, is what I am reading in the comments on this page.

Srsly. 4.9? Indicative of the fact that we need shows like this more than ever.
