Escaping Freedom (2020)
Spot on Storytelling Regarding the Experience of Doubt within the Evsngelical Church
Edd Blott has nailed the experience one goes through as a leader in the American evangelical church who begins doubting the faith.
I'm an atheist who was once an evangelical Christian training to be a pastor. And even though I haven't dealt personally with the LGBTIQ+ side of the main character's story, I still felt like scene by scene this movie was retelling my own experience of doubting while a leader in the church.
The acting was top notch and the soundtrack and awkward silences only added to the emotion that emanated from every scene.
If you have experienced life in the church and either left or have gone through a time of serious doubts, this film will resonate deeply with you.
Highly recommended!!!
A Tale of Delight (2012)
Fantastic debut. Hope we see more from Edd Blott
As a student of psychology, I found this movie a fascinating look at the perspective of someone dealing with a serious mental illness and the lack of support they can feel from friends and family. The acting was superb, as was the writing and directing. A+++
Anyone who has interest in mental illness, has a mental illness, or has family or friends with mental illness should see this film. It really enlightens one to how it feels to have your illness brushed aside as if it is less real than viruses and bacterial infections.
The brain is a very important organ in our body, and if things are not running smoothly in our brains, everything else in our life suffers. To overlook mental illness because it's "all in his head" is to overlook perhaps the most debilitating kind of illness known to man. This movie shows this better than any I have ever seen.
