Elvis (2022)

Painful
4 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to enjoy this as I loved Luhrmann's take on The Great Gatsby but this was just painful to watch. It was odd but more importantly, it didn't feel like Elvis' story and more like that of the "evil" Colonel's plot to capture Elvis' very soul. Austin Butler acted the hell outta playing Elvis and I appreciated the accuracies regarding the influence Black music had on him. I know Elvis' family thought this was great but I just don't see it. Took me 3 times before I finally finished this. I think Luhrmann needs to stick with fictional stories cause biographies ain't it. Overall, just a strange.

WHAT...THE...HELL KRISTEN??
1 February 2022
Jesus pleasus! What in the Hallmark channel meets Lifetime Movie Network did I just watch. Nonsensical and downright laughable storyline with subpar acting; This should have been an 1.5hr movie if it had to be made at all. I did stick it out just to see where this mess would end up and the final episode did not disappoint...as in it ended far more idiotic than I originally thought it would.

Definitely A TV Movie
28 January 2022
Based on the true story of Dee Dee and Gyspy Rose Blanchard. If you're interested in this story, do yourself a favour and skip this and watch the miniseries, The Act.

Low Ratings Are Wrong
3 December 2021
I don't understand how this movie has so many low ratings. The acting was great, the story compelling and the ending was a twist. It's not a 10/10 but 8/10 ain't bad either. Do yourself a favour and watch this film.

Perfect Originality
28 September 2021
I don't know what to say except this series is perfection. It's original and it draws you in if you give it a chance.

GARBAGE
13 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
All I'm going to say is that I didn't make it 5 mins in before my eyes rolled so far back in my head, I could see my brain and tbh, the view was better. Netflix is going to cancel actual good shows to make room for this trash? I Amy need to cancel my subscription.

Pose: Series Finale (Part I) (2021)

This is the type of finale every great show deserves. I didn't want this show to end but am happy it ended the way it did...with the dignity and respect it's story and characters deserved.

Truly Magical
14 March 2021
I was born in '77 and about 5 when I first watched this movie on BETA no less. It has stayed with me all these years...and as I write this, I am 43. This beautiful film is my childhood and I hope it can continue to be shared with each generation as it is absolutely timeless. Like the Unicorn, I hope that this film remains elusive yet timeless.

Visceral

This truly is the best of the best as far as true crime. From the interviews with the actual Detectives who worked the cases to the raw footages; this is the real deal whether you look away or not. It's beautifully done with sincerity and accuracy: it doesn't get better than this. Bravo Netflix.

WASTE OF TIME
9 March 2020
Stuck with this all too painful to watch beyond the first 2 episodes series hoping that it would all come together in an explosive finale. NOPE. It was literally the most pointless series I've ever encountered. They could have saved a lot of money and time (namely the viewers) by making this an hour and a half movie.

Once is enough
12 January 2020
Joaquin was absolutely amazing and completely believable but I'm still struggling to understand wtf point they were trying to make. Like is this about the ills of society from the perspective of an abused, mentally ill man or was it sending the message that if you are an abused, mentally ill man that the answer is to kill everyone ? I dunno. I'm by no means a closed minded person who takes issue with violence in film but it's the subtext I have an issue with. I have it a 5/10 because Joaquin was a solid 10, the film was a 1 so I split the difference.

It's not about the map...
20 November 2019
For those giving this doc a low rating based on their view that it is historically inaccurate...your review is inaccurate and you've missed the whole point. No where in this doc do they accuse the Polish of erecting and running the German built concentration camps on Polish soil. Further, that is not what this is about is it? It's about bringing an accused mass murderer to justice. I for one am perplexed by all the negativity.

Not Drag Race!
3 July 2019
If you're looking for a closer lewk at the real world of Drag, this is for you! This isn't Drag Race; it's a fun, nostalgic doc about the drag festival, Wigstock which was started in the East Village of Manahattan in the '80's and features clips from the past, some of Drag's pioneering Queens to the 2018 resurgence of the festival. Some familiar faces from Rupaul's Drag Race but it's not focused on them.

Stunning!
29 June 2019
This film is absolutely stunning. A very real, heartfelt showing of what really happened during WW1. Painstakingly and clearly lovingly done by Peter Jackson and his team, you are transported to the most difficult chapter in our world's war. I truly believe this should be part of high school curriculum; specifically in Canada, Britain and Australia. A masterpiece of historical per portions.

Couldn't finish this mess
29 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As much as my heart goes out to Jan, I just couldn't get passed the sheer stupidity of her parents! How could two people be so dumb!! There's naivety and then there's idiocy. My god, they allowed a man who admitted being obsessed with their daughter to sleep with her for 4 nights a week for six months as part of his therapy??? These people should just never have been allowed to breed. SHAMEFUL
