Moonfall (2022)
You have to watch this, just once in your life, legit gave it a ten simply for wildness
"Moonfall"
The movie that literally took Deep Impact, Dante's Peak, Armegddon, Interetallar, Fast and Furious, San Andreas, 2012, I Robot, possibly multiple marvel movies and made their own movie. There's probably more I missed.
I kid you not. If you've never watched Moonfall, go watch it. Just for the sake of sitting there and being "Wtf" throughout the whole thing.
Its pretty decent as far as acting goes, but the whole construct of writing and story line is hilarious.
I need more characters so now I'm just writing the full the minimum space required but like I said, just watch it, you'll be horrified and amazed all in one.
Plane (2023)
It's decent
I've watched some really c-grade movies that were advertised as a-grade.
This is a pretty straightforward, steady moving film. Acting is believable and good.
It's very cliche, a movie that's been done before, and quite predictable, but easy viewing and substantially impressed.
Script is mostly decent, though there are a few moments where it doesn't flow.
It wasn't painful to watch and you weren't left wondering why the characters were dumb and made bad choices (for the most part they didn't)
If I had of paid to see this at a cinema, I wouldn't be asking for my money back. A good action movie to chill out too and actually enjoy.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
What happened?! Amazing visuals. But the story?!
I remember when the first one came out and we had a pandemic of depression because people got so lost in the magic and wanted to live on Pandora rather than earth.
The magic felt lost with this one.
The story line was there... but it wasn't at the same time.
I feel it would have been better if it had of followed one character like Kiri rather than trying to tie in a whole heap of random story lines with all the kids.
It felt rushed, there are so many unanswered questions and I feel like another handful of unnecessary scenes and confusing twists that were never given a solid answer. And the questions start within the first 10 minutes.
So many amazing possibilities and this was the final result? Was it simply bad editing and we are going to get an extended version released later that answers everything? I feel like a third avatar would just be a cheap scapegoat as a resolution and resolve to what should have been given to the audience in this sequel.
I don't feel it's poor enough for a 6 - the visuals are amazing. But I also feel a 7 is generous.
Firestarter (2022)
Starts off good.... Then what the actual F
Great premise.
Starts strong.... Then like other reviewers have commented.... Pointless.
Real let down.
What's an even bigger let down is you can't right short reviews anymore.
So guess this will have spoilers.....
First problem is the mum scene, so willing to just give up her life when she could play along until father and daughter come home and they could all take on the one big scary man?
Father then so ready to let daughter run off into the woods.... Alone?!
Untrained..... never been with wifi or google and believes screens are bad.
How does she know to disable cameras once she gets to the facility? Is it meant to be left to the viewer's assumption that she just "knows" after knowing nothing?
Just a lot of questions with no answers.
At least they tried.
Snowflake Mountain (2022)
I have one question.....
Wtaf, where is Mrs. O Nugget and her five friends and why wasn't there any follow up?
Responsibility comes with.... Responsibilities and they never ventured back to get the snowflakes to actually look after their feathered kids?
Rip actual future kids!
All in all, mostly uplifting, but they do got a car drive back from the mountain, let's be real.
Spiderhead (2022)
Not really a thriller?
It's slow. Really slow. And I love a good burner.
But there wasn't much burning, apart from my brain over frying itself waiting for it to get better.
30 mins in and I didn't really care for any of the characters. Chris Hemsworth seems to enjoy being a pharmaceutical mad man running tests on people. Miles Teller's acting is decent, won't know anymore however as 30 mins is all this show is getting of my attention.
#depresso.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Binged it in one day, 10/10
Everything a good series should have.
Acting on point.
Dialogue on point.
Scenery. On point.
A couple of little plot holes-but nothing is perfect!
Been so long since I have found something to get lost in, thankful for Sweet Tooth and looking forward to next season.
The Langoliers (1995)
Still great in 2021!
I loved the book but hadn't seen the short series adaption, at 30 years of age, it finally happened.
Really accurate, felt like I was watching what I had envisioned whilst reading.
A couple of laughs considering it is from 1995 but overall, great. Do recommend for any SK fan. Definitely one for the movie collection to rewatch.
Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Good watching
Well written. Depth to characters. A little cliche in some areas and a bit of a push with the hidden "messages". Other than that, it's easy watching. Enough that you can follow the story line, or zone out and have it running in the background. I feel it's potential wasn't completely reached, but at episode 5 I'm invested. The back story is intriguing, and I'm finding myself enjoying it more than the present!
The Irregulars (2021)
Not the worst, not the best... By far
My biggest peeve, plot holes! Stories that fall together "just because" and that's the way it is! Accept it, audience. So many plot holes and so many questions, why, how, when, what!? Not ideal when you're wanting to get lost in a great story. Acting was either OTT or not believable. Music choice, what were they thinking!?
Sadly, fell asleep during episode three and that was probably the best part.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
The logic is the best!
What is the first thing you decide to do to help your family when the man of the house has lost half your reserves in the stock market?
Hire an elite baby sitter from an elite baby sitting firm.. hahaha.
That's as far as I've gotten.
I can't give this a one rating because it's quite comical and made me laugh, though it wasn't designed to be one like that I don't think.
Ha. Ha. Ha.
2067 (2020)
Just. Woah. No.
Had appeal. Had potential. I'd rather watch paint dry next time.
The characters, Ethan and Jude, spent more time crying, screaming and yelling the same circular dialogue over and over again than progressing anywhere with this let down.
I didn't think anything could be as bad as 2020, this movie is 2020 in a nutshell.
Tiny Pretty Things (2020)
Pretty little liars meets 13 reasons meets dance academy.
Not the worst, not the best.
Definitely some weak character developments and patchy story line tie ins.
It isn't all doom and gloom, but I was kind of hoping for more.
The songs are great though, play list has gained a few new ones.
The Boys (2019)
BRING ON SEASON 3!!!
If you haven't watched this, watch it.
The BEST TV show made in so so so long!
Season 3, hell yeah!
Emily in Paris (2020)
A little like Sex + The City...
Here me out... It's much more G rated than the mentioned predecessor however it has that light hearted good feel with a gracious amount of drama and laughs. First two episodes were a little on the "cringe" side, but it's worked its way into my favourites. Started watching tonight and am on episode 7. Easily binged. Recommend giving it a shot.
Cats (2019)
This will negatively impact cat adoptions...
There is going to be a steep increase of cats left unadopted at shelters after the world sees this.
I'm too scared to look at my own cats right now.
What if their feet aren't ok? Ugh.
Midsommar (2019)
You know what, give it a go
Its unique. Its ability to capture emotions and spit them out all over the viewers to feel is amazing. I probably don't need to watch it again, I feel like I will be recovering for quite a while.
Great acting, great screenplay, some interesting camera shots and the story line is completely whack, but hey, I think it's a solid 8.5/10 easy..
Fantasy Island (2020)
Not the worst, not the best
The story line is good, but it lacks any action, horror or thrill. A bit cheesy and cliche, but bareable.
Vivarium (2019)
A three for good acting, the rest is atrocious
The actors were great, can not fault them, like they were top notch.
That is about all I can say about it. I love Imogen and Jesse, they're just so good at playing any part in the movies they're starring in.
Other than that, I'd like my 2 hours returned.
Gekijô-ban poketto monsutâ: Myûtsû no gyakushû Evolution (2019)
It could have been a 10....
....if they had of kept the original soundtrack.
Holy heck balls, the intro credits song is deplorable!!! Was the bloke out to butcher the @#$& out of the OG tune? Because, he succeeded. He took the scotch fillet and lacerated the heck out of it.
Other than that minorly major mistake, for the most part I enjoyed the remake. I grew up loving this movie, I get so overwhelmed with all the additional Pokemon generation releases, it's nice to stick with the original 150 (there abouts) and head back in time. But honestly, next time? Keep the original soundtrack!
Torque (2004)
Fast and furious, on bikes
I'm not even that far in and I'm giving this a solid 10. Why? Because it's terrible. Funny. Far fetched. Cliche. Terribly cheesy lines. The close up face pans. Ah, they don't make movies like this anymore. The intensity in each scene - that passion! The Torque is the talk!
I mean, what do you expect with Ice Cube? Just a lot of burn burn burn, ice burn!
Locke & Key (2020)
Looking forward to season two - however...
Spoilers ahead - be warned
.... Well, it has its flaws. The story could have been a little stronger, there are some really stupid decisions made by the characters which makes the whole series really, really frustrating - not going to lie, I did ask "but why?" more than a couple of times. And then there are some complete 180's made in personality changes, and it's a little out of this world/not really believable considering what that character/s had already experienced in previous episodes.
Take for eg. Episode 9 - why did Miss Kins not just use the music box? Are demons immune to keys? No they're not. Clearly.
Or, the question I have regarding Episode 10 - did "Gabe/Dodge/Lucas" really get with both older bro and the younger sis in this!!?? Because that's... Interesting.
Overall enjoyed and am keen to see what season 2 will bring. Hope it is a better production overall.
Impulse (2018)
Im-pass
Really wanted to get into this. And couldn't.
Plot holey. Cliche. Extremely repetitive scenes and dialogue.
The main character is so hard to like. She is rude, bratty and the show makes out like this is ok and her actions should just be acceptable?
Every character's IQ is shockingly low when the obvious answer is right there in front of them.
Got up to episode 2 and decided it was honestly trash.
It has potential, or had potential, but it is honestly just terrible writing and directing, with the subliminal "sexual" assault message, that's not very subliminal.
Neither are working with each other.
Next.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
The best thriller I've seen in a long time!
I'm a Stephen King fan, who has been able to get her partner onto him.
Anyway, I didn't know much about this movie. He's the TV/movie head, myself, I'm more about books.
Anyway, he tells me this is what we are watching and moly. I rate it up there with Franco's 11.22.63 mini series adaption.
Great story telling, great acting by all cast members, great cinematography, wonderful directing of film and CGI.... Honestly it's got to be the best thriller of the year!
Two and a half hours you'll actually wish kept going! I'm sad it's over!
Raising Dion (2019)
Easy watching, cliche, has potential, but sadly is missed
Tries to be funny, but isn't.
Tries to be mysterious, but it isn't.
Characters are quite annoying at first. Honestly, I'm up to episode 4 and I don't even feel that connected to Dion. I'd rather him knock himself out accidentally for the rest of the series and just watch Mind Mover Mentor work out the kinks. Dion's mother reacts rather bizarrely to her child's new found powers, certainly hard to connect with her too.
I miss colony!
