Perfect pillow episode
17 April 2023
So often, pilots are episodes that everyone feels "well, it's fine, it establishes characters but it's not great". - NOT the case for this show.

Both segments are perfect distillations of what makes this show so compelling (to both kids and adults alike ... me being the latter and perhaps enjoy it now even more years later).

The first segment Downtown as Fruits shows how the show can insinuate the dangers of living in a big city as a kid (drug deal gone wrong... ballsy) and closes out showing Arnold's heart of gold.

The second episode expands on Arnold's well-meaning nature in a comedy of errors - nothing can go well for Eugene despite Arnold's best efforts, but it still ends in a heartwarming note.

Looking forward to rewatching the rest!

Love the character development
5 August 2022
Not only is it fun to see Gregory have another goofy side to him (and the other characters' acceptance) - but my real favorite part of this was seeing the character I never imagined (Ava) having a serious moment actually getting some depth ! I feel like often on shows, characters like Ava remain one-note so it bodes well for the show that these characters are going to continue to be developed. Love it!

Fun change of pace
20 July 2022
This episode was certainly unique - getting some backstory for a side character with a fun mini-"twist" at the end. I like when the writers do weird episodes like this!

Sufjan - the perfect introduction
19 July 2022
I knew when the episode started with Sufjan Stevens's "Chicago" it was going to be a special episode. The placid nature of the song while also being about getting out and trying new, scary things fits perfectly as a lead-in to the chaos afterwards. What a 180° shift occurs. Such a well-made episode in every regard.

Not bad!
17 July 2022
I always enjoy the episodes that take the Detective Pikachu route - that is, what would it be like if Pokémon were a part of our society, and in this case, our geography? I have never thought about Digletts as pests but it makes so much sense. Cool idea.

How is this not the season finale
24 June 2022
Wow... there are really no spoiler-free ways of describing the brilliance of this episode, but I will say that it ranks among the very best episodes - not just of The Boys, but in television in general.

Good, most satisfying ending
17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For the most part, this was a satisfying ending to the series. I am glad they didn't drag it out while they were in college and just floundered for storylines like most high school shows.

This is an unpopular opinion but I think the most unsatisfying element of the ending is Victor and Benji ending up together. Shockingly, I think it would be most powerful if Victor chose himself and looked back on all his relationships as building blocks to discovering who he was. I just never felt the chemistry between V and B.

The most satisfying element was Felix's conclusion. That he is a member of the Salazar family is the most touching storyline of the series.

Truly iconic episode
23 May 2022
Has there ever been an episode of reality tv that has such a chokehold over the collective American psyche? No. Has there ever been a more memorable moment than "I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you!"? No. Even if you haven't seen the rest of the season, you will enjoy this episode for the bizarre nature of it.

Look at this as more of a love letter than a direct adaptation and you will enjoy it. Let it stand on its own. The effects and production design alone are incredible. Give it a chance!

It'd be almost impossible to make a boring South Korea leg, but I was so glad they tried something new in the cups and video games. The second detour (video games) was especially hilarious to me, as a semi-avid gamer.

As a teacher, I have to correct micro aggressions that are very accurately presented in this episode. It's an excellent way to blend humor and an actually needed message.

Just as horrific as I was told...
15 January 2021
Fans who are bashing this episode for being "woke" are a different kind of scary.

I had heard about this episode when I first started binging last year. I went into this season blindly, only knowing that there was a very controversial episode.

And wow... am I disturbed.

Throughout the season we've seen Dan be weird to Kellee. We've seen her mention she doesn't like being touched, yet he persists. Somehow, she comes out of this as the bad guy.

When someone speaks up in defense of her, they become the target - and that is the scary part to me. I realize there are so many factors to this game, but it was a very scary thing to see so many people ignore these unwarranted advances for the sake of gameplay.

Those who state that she could be lying... were your eyes closed in the footage reels?

Also - the footage of Dan placing his hands on Missy's thighs is enough to convince me of his transgressions. He has stated so many times that he has a wife, yet even if I were cold, I would not grope a thigh the way he did. I wouldn't place my head on someone's crotch.

Jeff trying to get Dan to explain his side was a highlight, especially with Jeff speaking up for women.

Janet and Jamal were also saving graces. It made me feel strength in knowing that there are people who wish to speak up for what's right.

Lastly... unfortunately, from the get go I haven't enjoyed this cast. This episode proved that they are an especially dislikable cast.

When Lauren stated that repeated inappropriate touching was not a reason to want to vote someone out, I knew I wasn't going to want to continue watching them play.

Another good Jack episode
22 December 2020
I tend to enjoy Jack-centric episodes because he's so complex, and while this wasn't my favorite, I still enjoyed seeing the complicated connection between Kevin and his father (and their battling prides).

Would have loved more closure, but some great moments as well
19 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This elevated the story to a new level - I just assumed all of the conflicts would be resolved like in the original film; however, the upside is that we are hopefully getting more Viktor and co. in the future!

I wish I had known it wouldn't be like the movie - I anticipated a really feel-good, tears of joy ending, but it was a really conflict-heavy ending. It was a good balance with Felix and Lake, but the whole time Viktor was kissing Benji I couldn't feel that happiness because I knew it was going to break Mia's heart - whereas in the movie, what we've waited for the whole time was euphoric because Simon's friends were all there to support and had come around in forgiveness.

A great episode, and I guess it boils down to me simply wanting more! I want more closure, more antics, more heart-warming moments, and more character interaction... unfortunately we'll probably have a few years until we see what happens!
