A good feminist revenge flick
14 March 2017
A feminist revenge flick. The plot, character development, and ending are really good. Speaking lines are very robotic and monotone for just about every character. The violence, man o womano, is off camera for the worst (death). The music is a little much, but not a deal breaker. I liked it enough to watch it all the way through and enjoy the story.

Better than the average romantic drama. Subtitled in English.
14 March 2017
Romantic drama; Russian TV four part mini-series. Better than the average romdram. The plot is fairly predictable, filmography is excellent, acting is very good. Lubava Greshnova and Michael Wheat play very well together. I searched them afterwards for other films to watch and learned that they are getting or have gotten married. They play very well together! FYI: Subtitled in English, but it really doesn't detract because the acting is so good.

Adam & Eve (2016– )

Really truly awful 3 episodes totaling 24 minutes
14 March 2017
This video series is really truly awful, but its salvation is that it is mercifully short. There are 3 short episodes, of which about 1/4 to 1/2 seems to be title and exit. The series totals 24 minutes plus a Bonus Applesode: Adam fails to light Eve's fire. As you may know, A&E were living happily hippy, naked in the garden of Eden, eating a vegetarian diet and then chose forbidden fruit over eternal life in the garden paradise. The storyline picks up 20 minutes after A&E are banished from the garden and posits Eve was no longer "into Adam" (and presumably vice versa physically). So, she was already pregnant with Cain? Subsequently Adam must have "lit Eve's fire" for her to conceive Able, Seth, and two other sons and daughters. Thus the storyline is almost totally inconsistent with the historical story/myth. Even if they based this on two other characters, this series would be rreally truly awful. Zero (0) out of 10.

A love story featuring very real, flawed human characters, some humor and fun
14 March 2017
A love story featuring very real, flawed human characters, some humor and fun, and a lot of faith that things will turn out well. A realistic romance where everyone pretty much keeps their clothes on. One of the main characters, Oscar (Joshua Courtade), is so believable as a severe introvert that it comes as a surprise to find out that Courtade wrote, directed, and produced the film. Opposites attract and Dana Blackstone plays Petra, an almost hyperactive extrovert, who accepts and bonds with Oscar. An award-winning cast of other characters, including April (Kaitlyn Squires) and Clark (Evan Koons) adds depth, dimensionality, and neuroses to the main storyline. A very good movie with excellent acting. Very highly recommended.

Game of Aces (2016)

All aces! A winning adventure film
14 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent adventure film set in the Egyptian desert in WW1 (circa 1917). A truly engaging film with a twisty plot filmed in a superb desert location (near Death Valley). And nice close action photography of biplanes (none actually flown by the ace pilot main characters). (spoiler:) Essentially three characters: an ace pilot German double- agent who only speaks German, a bilingual English nurse, and an American ex-baseball player, grounded ace pilot. Brilliant chase scene and a struggle to the death over stolen intelligence, with no sex, romance, or gratuitous violence. Rated R for some appropriate cussing.

Masterminds (2012)

gangster crime drama, pure garbage
14 March 2017
Gangster crime drama. Gangster steals from other crooked thugs, but is double-crossed by his girlfriend he uses as bait. Very poor film that went direct to DVD film starring Tila "Tequila" Nguyen, Nick Hogan, and Tray Chaney directed by David Keary. Foul language, no nudity, bad acting, bad script, poor cinematography. Do not confuse this garbage with the 2016 comedy film, Masterminds, of the same name.

2014 comic strip edited down from 2011 TV comic strip - feudal culture and violence
14 March 2017
2014 comic strip film edited down from a 2011 TV comic strip series "Space Ninja". There is nothing new, same feudal culture and violence. The animation is relatively poor quality. Editing down the space opera quality (though not high) of the TV series reduces any pretense of "art" to comic stripped.

Everything a really good film ought to be. Enjoy two hours with this one!
14 March 2017
Drama ending in romance. (not spoilers, Drama & Romance are advertised genres) Two emotionally wounded people meet and develop a complicated relationship. Late in the game, they find out they knew each other as children. (reconnection described in IMDb Storyline). That helps them bond again and each deal with their past abuse: psychological, physical, and sexual. This is not a violent, sexual, nor depressing film -- it is a well-done development of two people discovering how to overcome their past and have a future together. What begins as drama ends in romance. Manu Intiraymi and Kim Jackson Wheeler play very well off each other and their acting is superb. The script, supporting actors, and cinematography were all very well done. To me, a Best Film in its genre(s) and everything a really good film ought to be. Enjoy two hours with this one!

Great if you like to see Cynthia Rothrock in a vigilante action & sci-fi film
14 March 2017
Vigilante martial arts & sci-fi film. Professional woman is attacked by burglars, which causes her to somehow acquire psychic powers. She uses her new powers to become a vigilante by night while being a forensic prosecution witness by day. Not exactly plausible, but okay if you like sci-fi martial arts action with Cynthia Rothrock kicking ass. Mild (tasteful) topless Rothrock love scene thrown in, perhaps to balance chop suey with her feminine side.
