Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Heartwarming, Soothing, hilarious
Everything everywhere all at once is a unique film, blending kung fu action, science fiction, family drama, comedy and heavy existential dread all in one big pot of soup.
It explores some of the heaviest parts of the human experience like failure, unmet expectations, regret, the possibilities that we passed on, what we can and cannot control.
It tries to navigate the pain of living a seemingly unfulfilling life and the thought of "what we could have been" but it never gets boring or pretentious as it is always self aware and humorous.
Ultimately it is heartwarming feeling that you get when a film articulates so much of your worries and reminds you why what matters is what you have right now.
Also I cried for 45' watching it.
Twist (2021)
Confused
I struggle to find anything good about this movie. In fact it was so bad I started laughing hysterically about half way. The director seems to function like a poorly designed AI, tasked with making a movie after being fed movies like oceans 11, Guy Ritchie grimy London gang action films, teenage rom coms and recorded stage plays. Ultimately every aspect of this film is non sensical and out of touch, from the costumes to the plot, direction and even the acting. I'm giving it two stars because I did laugh, but for all the wrong reasons.
Frenzy (2018)
Great comedy film
Do you want an action packed film, with top notch CGI & SFX, some if the greatest acting, writing and captivating slow motion scenes ? Then this is not for you.
But do you want an adventure film reminiscent of a B movie? Where the protagonist moans throughout the entire length (yes all 1.2 hours) of the film while struggling to survive ? Do you want lines and plot points taken straight out of a telenovela ? Then look no further. I am not sure what this film tried to do, but it did it so poorly, it ends up being entertaining anyway !
