Listen to Me Marlon (2015)
far from the carbon copy
This insight into the life of Marlon Brando is a interesting yet nail biting one. I believe that this project aims to show people who Marlon the man was and just what he wanted in life and his success. A brilliant insight into his life from young to old, however, I still feel that nobody will ever fully understand and know who the man truly was. A title credited by many as one of the greatest actors ever to live, his style of acting brought method to characters and he did love performing on stage and in front of the camera. Marlon loved the camera like no other actor ever has, this is evident throughout. However, this was only to a certain limit. Marlon enjoyed his own company when it came to the end of his prestigious career. To enjoy this documentary, you do really need to have an interest in acting and Marlon Brando. However, if not and you sit down and watch this, I believe that 99% of people will grow an appetite into the mans life. He faced both success and adversity in his life, an for many during his life he was his own person who knew what he wanted. A womanizer, that doesn't shy away from beautiful women, Marlon shows traits what a smooth operating charmer in the 21st century should possess. If you have a love for acting, you need to watch this. However it can be tedious, Marlon lived a pretty hectic life and there is so much involved in his life, so for some it can drag. Although in my opinion I conclude that this was essential when talking about the life of Marlon Brando. A beautiful troublesome actor, both loved and hated by many, we paradoxically wouldn't have the actors we have today without the life and work of Marlon Brando. Marlon revolutionized the art of acting, this is evident to be shown in this documentary.
I Am Heath Ledger (2017)
Heath Ledger
I believe with this piece of work, we finally have taken off heaths mask that he portrayed himself as the Joker. We now see a side to heath that the world had to see. I believe it leaves the light on who he was as a artist and just how he was able to tackle and perfect not only the joker in dark knight, but also how he was a father, a friend loved by many and a creative individual who shocked the 21st century with what method acting was really about. The devastating and sudden death that rocked the world just around ten years ago had a huge impact on many. I found this project as an interesting and insightful one. Right from the beginning there is close personal creative genius from this guy. If you think Heath ledger-the actor? Incorrect. The love of film and photography is evident throughout, along with home videos of heath turning the camera on himself and friends. Footage of Heath acting along the best actors in the business, we see the humanity in Heath and just how he was human, he did suffer from the constant overwhelming fame, and in my opinion enjoyed his work rather than his benefits from it. Creating film was heaths love. Also we see a insight into how heath found his wife and love in his tender years that he did live. I believe this documentary went to a place that needed to be searched when we think about the guy that was Heath Ledger. Heath was a guy who lived life to the fullest and never really took a break because of his love for film. Alongside Dean, Brando and Day-Lewis, Heath Ledger was an iconic method actor, that held qualities of a rare breed and should be a image for young actors today. The ethos of this entire documentary holds this idea I believe.
The Prestige (2006)
The Prestige
A truly great movie that keeps the audience anticipating what is going to happen next throughout. ALIST cast, along with a master director. A film that doesn't receive the credit it deserves. Doesn't stick to a particular genre and holds acting performances that I believe Oscar worthy. Hugh Jackman, the gifted method actor swaps his aggressive wolverine blades and plays a obsessive magician who holds every card in his pocket; the love of showmanship. However, Jackman isn't the only magician in this monumental tale of rivalry. Christian Bale also plays as his bitter rival. Bale, being the best magician in my opinion, although he doesn't hold the same characteristics and showmanship as Jackman, it is hard not to be fooled by the magicians mysterious ways and Bales tremendous acting displaying his love for magic and trickery. A love story for the obsession of magic and being a entertainer surrounds the movie, along with other hard hitting life events. Loved ones lost from Both sides, this tale of two men fighting against each other is sure to keep you guessing while you crunch on your movie food and it is nearly impossible to predict what happens next from beginning to end.
