The Sandman (2022)
Too woke
Hard to get past the race and gender swaps. Seems like a checklist by committee exercise. Has promise but some of the acting is a bit wooden, the actress playing Lucien is more to ally attuned to a kids programme.
Hitmen (2020)
Oh Dear
One of the worst things I've ever watched. Sue Perkins seems to be carved from wood. Best if these two stick to light entertainment and give acting a swerve, best for the audience that is.
Years and Years (2019)
Bilge
Predictable and boring. Lazy plotting and unconvincing acting.
Citizenfour (2014)
Borefest
How this ever won the Oscar for best documentary is completely and utterly beyond me. Static narrative, unimaginative camera-work, just terribly boring. I learned nothing new about the Snowden affair. There was little to no technical information as regards to how NSA/GCGQ are capturing signal intelligence. It really didn't manage to detail the issues or for that matter give any counterpoint from the NSA. Very disappointing.
Compare this to Finding Vivian Maier and Last Days in Vietnam, how could this win!!! I can only think that it was politically motivated. Hard to see anyone coming back to watch this in years to come.
Noah (2014)
Bobbins
Just awful, complete and utter Bobbins.
I thought I was watching Transformers at one point. What were those rock people doing....
Really is the worst film I've seen in a long time.
Acting was sort of OK. Ray Winstone is always a strong presence. Connelly good but no so strong from Emma Watson.
But what were they thinking, not sure if I'd let Arronofsky make another film, certainly not anything on this scale, perhaps he should stick to smaller art house films.
Not even so bad as to be good. When it finished the audience was quiet, not I think through awe more of bewilderment and shock. You have been warned.
