One Night (2016)
Two-Taled Realistic Love Story
When a couple's marriage is on the line, they attempt to rediscover their high school affection they once felt for each other all in one night. We get a glimpse about the troubles of their complicated relationship; a marriage filled with bundled up unsaid emotions and unresolved past fights that have left the main character, Liz, disheartened and her husband, Drew willing to fight for their marriage. They have to decide whether their differences and past mistakes are enough to end their love story, or whether this night will be a chance for them to finally repair it. They unexpectedly meet two high schoolers, Bea and Andy, that are at the same hotel for their prom. Bea and Andy add a really refreshing young mix to the movie and their relationship allowed us to see the differences between young love and marriage.
I loved seeing Anna Camp and Justin Chatwin take on more serious roles than what we normally see them play. Their chemistry on-screen felt very authentic and real, making me more enthused to see how their relationship was going play out in the end. If you're over the sappy and clique romance films that always end the same way, then this film is worth the watch. The end will most definitely surprise you.
Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies (2016)
Not your average zom-com
When an experiment goes unexpectedly wrong, it leads to an all out zombie invasion on top of the beautiful snowy Austrian Alps. Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies puts a different twist on my expectations of a typical zom com.
Its funny, thrilling and makes you want to keep watching to find out who gets devoured next. It's gory as you might have expected from the trailer but not as terrifying as some other zombie movies. The zombie fighting scenes were definitely gory and gruesome but the way the characters fought for survival with their snowboarding stunts and cutting-edge tricks was extremely entertaining to watch.
I also really liked that there was a romantic aspect in this movie that you normally don't see in most zombie flicks. The relationship between the two main characters made the movie appear more real to me. I loved how they put their differences aside to battle the blood hungry zombies together. Overall, I thought it was a great film and would recommend if you're an indie horror fan.
