Reviews
Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001)
Dr Do-Nothing
Dr Dollitle 2 was a fairly good movie with a strong cast but it just didn't do it for me. I found it pretty boring because what to like about. Not much because it's been done before. It was very distasteful but the voice actors were alright. I guess i expected too much from this movie as i do for a few movies. I bought this movie for Australian $15 a few years ago, most like it's $10 now because it wasn't that good or popular. I Just wish this movie could have a better storyline because "saving the forest" has been done before and it's common to viewers. They need to have a great idea that's never been done before and really wild.
Cheaper by the Dozen (2003)
Cheaper If You Rent Than Buy
Well, all we are getting now is remake's or sequels and Cheaper of the Dozen s one that isn't to good of one. In my opinion, you should stick with the original. Cheaper by the Dozen has an all-star cast that ruins it completely. Steve Martin is trying to be funny as Tom Baker but it's just not working. He's lost his touch and spoils the movie completely. For Me, I bought this when it first came out, and i now wish i kept the receipt because it is a stupid movie that goes on and is really unfunny and predictable. Unfortunatelty, the sequel was made as well, as thats not any better. Ashton Kutcher, Piper Pirebo, Hillary Duff, Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt are way to many stars as i said and it gets ruined by this.
Cracking the Da Vinci Code (2004)
Quite Poor
"Cracking the Da Vinci Code" is just like every other one of those documentaries on the so called controversial book "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown. This documentary takes you to all the places mentioned in the book and bores the living daylights out of you. I didn't want to hear authors blabbing on about the whole controversy. It's getting annoying. The Worst Part of this Documentary will definitely have to be the expert interviews. I always had to fast-forward past them because i wanted to remain alive after the documentary ended. Simon Ocx has done a poor performance with this and i don't know why i spent $30 on the DVD when i will never watch the stupid thing again.
The Only Good Part is seeing the paintings and the buildings. I don't care about what experts say.
Bringing Down the House (2003)
Bringing Down the Trash
"Bringing Down the House" was an alright comedy that bases around a former prisoner moving or staying into an attorney's house after they chatted on the internet. The idea to me very simple and there are quite a lot of stars that are in this movie. To me, too much. Sometimes movies flop because of two things, 1. Bad Storyline and 2. Too Many Characters. I was surprised to also see Joan Plowright's character smoking pot and why would she do a movie like this.
"Bringind Down the House" carried on quite a bit and there was a few unnecessary characters portrayed. For example, the lady across the road had no real meaning and not really Eugene Levy's character.
Overall, you can have a few laughs with this film but you might get a bit bored in the process because the ending isn't really comedy and didn't have to be set like that. I didn't like the change of moods in a movie. Firstly, its a mistake meeting an ex-con, then later there spying trying to solve the case. To Me, it's a poor cross of The Naked Gun and The Pink Panther
Bean (1997)
Ahhhh >>> Bean
The Mr Bean Movie is a funny British comedy that is a follow from the successful television series on Mr Bean.
Mr Bean is one of the comedies when you don't know whether to laugh or cry, because the scenes are ovating and leave an impression on you. The storyline is ordinary to me. Just Going to New York to Unviel Whistlers Mother's Painting in a fine art gallery, and he has to stay with a family that want him out of there.
There is an amazing cast with names like Rowan Atkinson, Pamela Reed and Burt Reynolds, who put it all into their characters and really shine.
My Favourite Scene will have to when he is using chewing gum to stick the poster and also eggs.
The Busy World of Richard Scarry (1993)
It WIll Open Up Your Eyes
One thing that i love about The Busy World of Richrd Scary Series is that they are created. One day, while at a library, i found an old video tape, and that brought back lots of memories When i was younger, i also watched The Busy World Of Richard Scarry on the ABC in Australia. I absolutely loved the show and now own two videos.
Richard Scarry has come up with many amazing characters that will make you smile and they are simple and lovable. He has created a Sesame Street into a Town.
The Characters for me are the best. I love the Scarry uses the animal name as the last name. For example, there's Hildaa Hippo, Bananas Gorilla, Lolli Worm and Huck Cat. He absolutely amazes many. I hope the series comes to DVD, so many other young ones, can find joy in the amazing series " The Bsy World of Richard Scarry" as what i did.
The Berenstain Bears (1985)
Some Where Deep In Bear Country
When i was younger, i used read the books and watch the series and i loved it. The characters were great and i loved that they used the simplest form of names such as mama, papa, sister and brother. There entertaining and most of the episodes have a moral about them.
What More can i say about the Berenstain Bears, there a classic and i watch the episodes at my pleasure.
They will be there for each other. There just like you and me. The only difference is they live in a tree.
I still own one of the Berenstain Bear Books and i must have read that book so many times. I believe it was one of the television series, when they go exploring in the cave. i think it was called " Lost in A Cave."
Kurenai no buta (1992)
Miyazaki soars through the skies
Porco Rosso is a truly touching film with an absolutely amazing musical score. The closing credits song is to me one of Studio Ghibli's Finest Moments. I Liked the expressions used and Miyazaki has not skimped on detail.
Anime Movies are the greatest animations because their is expressive detail and personalities shown with detail and movements.
Porco Rosso has touched many with this epic that has an amazing storyline which starts from just a simple idea that really touches your heart.
The Characters are sublime and they are true to their characteristics.
My Favourite scenes have to be:
1. The Closing Credits -(Truly touching). 2. All the women fixing the seaplane - (shows how feminism is truly important to Miyazaki).
3.The Final Sentences from Fio - (She says just enough to show you what the ending will just be).
Studio Ghibli has been successful once again and there is a very bright future up ahead from Anime.
Asteroids: Deadly Impact (1997)
Fair Documentary
Asteroids - Deadly Impact is an okay documentary showing asteroids and what will they do to affect us. The technology they use is smashing and really puts together what natural objects in outer space can affect us.
Do you believe what they say about dinosaurs being wiped off the planet after a massive cosmic collision? Well in my opinion, anything in this world or others is possible.
Overall, not to bad, but for me these documentaries get boring sometimes and there needs to be more amusement for the viewers. It's also extremely fascinating with the points they put forward and their guesses of what happened millions of years ago.
The 4400 (2004)
So Long Ago
The 4400 is amazing, and it compares to Spielberg's Taken. The story lines are amazing. I was hooked when this was shown in Australia(as a mini-series). Season 2 however i think was not as good as the first because in the first season everything happens and now, the continue to look at different cases from the 4400. I wonder if they will make that many episodes because the 4400 has lost the original plot. I just wonder how long this TV series will last.
Overall It was fairly alright and this is great television drama and sci-fi, ones which we haven't seen in years.
Jacqueline McKenzie is marvelous and really shines as the leading lady.
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
What can happened when an idea turns into a MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie is truly one of the best i have watched. Hayao Miyazaki has furthermore named his greatness with Spirited Away. The characters and settings are absolutely amazing. In every Miyazaki film, there is always a certain class that he takes, however, in Spirited Away, he is in a class of his own.
The one thing i hate is that Anime films are not properly recognized like Spirited Away. This movie only made about 10 million in the US, buy a dumb, unfunny movie like Madagascar make over 150 million.
Miyazaki has truly proved himself to be a great animator and only Walt Disney can stand up to his greatness. Now on Spirited Away, the morals shown and they way they are acting is a masterpiece. LIke always remembering your name, is a true classic. Spirited Away has taken big step into making anime more accepted outside Japan and put it into the centre stage.
GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to have a copy for your self. :):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
