R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned (2022)
Ugh
Unlike some other reviewers I liked the original and I like westerns. Problem is this was neither one. The only thing this movie had in common with the first is its title and the word dead-o. It was on PPV for $6 but I found it on Netfix and was very glad I didn't waste the $6. The best thing I can say about it is we managed to sit through the whole thing, albeit with groans and complaints. It struggles to be funny, intriguing and visually sensational without achieving any of it. I have the original on DVD and still plug it in once in a while. I wanted to like this and expected more but you'd have to pay me to sit through this again.
The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee (2020)
I enjoyed it
It seems like viewers either really liked this movie or really hated it. I enjoyed what is likely Paul Hogan's final movie since he's now 81. He looks good, and for a change played himself trying to cope with the craziness of living in Hollywood and all its pretentious, superficial, fickle a$$holes. That's probably what I liked best about the movie; it poked Hollywood in the eye with a stick. And credit must be given to the actors who helped him do it like Chevy Chase and John Cleese. Also good to see short clips of other Aussie actors playing along. It's not an owner like the first 2 Dundee movies but I consider it time and money well spent on good entertainment.
