Do you have the patience for a good story?
There are many positive reviews that come before mine. I can't add much, but I'll try. The people who brought us Dark, have brought us something new and worth viewing. There are elements of Dark here, but it's its own story.
First, if you want instant gratification in each episode, this isn't the show for you. It's a slow burn, but hardly boring. Stories worth telling take time to unfold. It's a character driven narrative that includes a well chosen soundtrack, great acting, and a cool score.
Next, some highlights for me- there are clues almost from the start that something isn't quite right. I enjoyed formulating theories, and then discarding them as new information became available. It's an interactive show if you want it to be. As we neared the end, I was pleased to see my speculations come quite close to what was going on.
Also, I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated that there were several languages, and the characters had to overcome those barriers. It was interesting to watch the characters interact despite that barrier.
Finally, I was so happy to watch Andreas Pietschmann. He is so expensive, you can almost feel his character's pain. The entire cast brought me into their reality, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to escape my reality for a bit. Looking forward to season 2.
Book of Love (2022)
Cute. Funny. Sentimental. Why all the hate?
I was looking for an easy to watch flick, and that's what I got. I wanted a predictable romantic comedy. And that's what I got. Sam Claftin and Veronica Echegui had great chemistry, and played their characters well. The idea of rewriting an author's work was an interesting take for the backdrop to this romcon. It allowed opportunities for some good humor. If you are looking for an award winning film for writing, directing, screen play, etc. Look elsewhere. But, for everyone else, I'd recommend giving it a shot.
