Talk to Me (I) (2022)

Original & Unique
12 September 2023
One of the most unique and original horror films I have seen in a long time. It's hard to fathom that Margot Robbies "Barbie" broke box office records and made over 1 billion dollars (considering I myself thouht it was just nonsense and silly) and yet here is this sleepy lil aussie horror that deserves soooo much attention. Must watch if you love horror. 5 stars. Well written, well made, Great acting. Congrats to all involved in this production. I will be looking forward to more work from this director. Also, the gen z actors did a great job. This film exceeded exepectations for me. Would watch again.

Brian Austin Green trying to be Jake Johnson
1 July 2022
Just something about the beard, his mannerisms and tone of voice tells me that the casting director wanted Jake Johnson but perhaps couldn't afford him or maybe he declined knowing it would be a bomb.

That being said, pretty average revenge film really. Not enough grit nor substance. Not even any frontal nudity. I think the writer may have had a message in their somewhere but failed to execute it.

Baffled by the ending
14 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not the worst reimagination of an 80s classic but not the best either. Mr. Efron was actually more impressive in High School Musical in my opinion. I did however enjoy the score by non other than Mr. John Carpenter and I liked that they tried to bring the story into the 21st century with the protective contact lenses. It was an okay film but could have done with a bit better plot. Speaking of plots, I found the ending to be nonsensical. Why on earth would she trust the man who killed her mother so much so that she would decide to be raised by him? Am I missing something here? I truly am baffled with the ending. Also, did anyone notice, and i could be wrong. Zac Efron popped back up even after he had been burnt. Was that not him the wrestled with Rainbird when he first got released from his cell?

Hidden Gem

This is not your typical rom com folks . It's a film that addresses honest interpersonal relationship issues and dynamics. Perhaps Jason Sudeikis best work to date. Alison Brie, always an angel, shines like a diamond. No one else but them could have played these roles. Both great actors in the own right. Amanda Peet, with her ageless face and glow plays the character of a successful business woman with both poise and maturity. Kudos to writer director Leslye Headland and everyone who made this movie.

Slower than a drunk snail
29 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had the most excruciatingly slowest burn in movie history.

It was so slow that i was exhausted after watching it.

Everything happened in the last 10 mins.

Some funny one liners though. I will give it that.

Watch it if you're bored but have your phone handy for scrolling FB.

Absolutely Refreshing

Very cute, clever and endearing. Hooked from the pilot. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Makes a nice change from teenagers swearing, using drugs and trying to get laid - that just gets old and poisons our youth.

I have seen some bad horrors in my day...
24 September 2019
Words cannot even begin to describe just how bad this film was. How on earth did it get a green light? Poor acting, Bad script, terrible dialogue. These women seriously need a career change. Avoid this film at all costs...

A Very Hard Watch
1 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Okay...firstly let me say that the trailer made this look like a Great Zombie Comedy. I feel very let down to be honest. Whilst I did laugh for the first 15 mins and especially loved the initial breaking of the fourth wall it didn't take long thereafter for it to become hard to watch. I found it very slow, boring as and no longer funny. It's my understanding now after doing a bit of research that this is suppose to be an attempt at deadpan humour but I mean come on people. Aubrey Plaza does deadpan humour and she is great but this movie just fails to impress me. At one point i paused the film to check how long was left and there was only 15 mins. So i decided to stick with it, mainly because homeboy kept saying " this is going to end badly" and i wanted to see how it was going to end. I did chuckle again towards the end when Mr. Driver said " I read the script, that's how i know it's going to end badly" And the UFO part was completely off the wall and unexpected. In conclusion, this is not Bill Murrays best work, it is certainly not Adams time to shine and Tilda Swinton should definitely know better. Best advice, don't waste 100 mins of your time on this.

excruciatingly slow and boring
13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I pushed myself to see this droll to the very end. I found it slow, boring and uninteresting with very unlikable characters. I only persevered due to hoping it was going to at some point get better and or dark. However, it did not. I suppose it may appeal to late teen girls but in all seriousness so did movies like 16 candles and pretty in pink, which let's face it are classics in their own right. If you want 21st century Millennial romance, I suggest movies like Every Day or Before I fall. Avoid this film if you can.

Poignant
11 May 2019
Quite poignant really when you think about it. So many elements - elder abuse, lonlieness, grief and loss. All very real things.. with a slice of creepiness. If you watch this movie correctly you will see it has dark undertones and harsh realities. Worth the watch.

Predictable and Cliche but overall cute
12 April 2019
Aside from its obvious predictability i found this film to be cute and heartwarming. The actor who plays the protagonist often plays these kinds of roles but does so quite well. The awkward quirky eventual love interest is adorable at best. Gay black friend is a nice change from the usual token black guy however i found his acting somewhat weak and his part was rather small. Perhaps if he were given a back story and some more depth to his character the movie could have shown a little more meaning. Don't get me wrong the message was a nice one but maybe a little too basic and let's face it he still has some growing up to do. He mentioned he was 18 but learning 1 lesson does not maketh man.

Worst Movie Ever
9 June 2018
This movie was so poorly acted with an extremely low budget. Had a very weak story line. I had to force myself to sit through the whole film. Sounds silly I know to do such a thing but i guess i was hoping it was going to get better along the way. Really i should of turned it off when i saw how poorly the acting was 10 minutes in by the babies parents, because let's face it, poor acting is usually an indication that a movie has very little substance. You could probably use that 90 minutes to write an even better script on an old notepad whilst listening to Enigma for inspiration.
