Pinocchio (2022)
Pleasantly surprised
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much but this movie was actually pretty good. Remember this movie is for kids so a lot of these adult reviewers need to remember that.
I watched this with my 6 & 4 yr olds, and was pretty nervous about the almost 2 hr run time for a live action, but they watched the whole thing! There's plenty of action and humor for kids and adults.
Personally, my wife and I enjoyed Tom Hanks and Keegan Michael-Key. There was some fun jokes for adults thrown in and I always enjoy catching those. If it wasn't for Hanks and Key I don't think I would of enjoyed it as much.
It's worth a watch, and I don't remember the original being all that great anyways.. and plus it's way better than the Lion King remake.
Ghosted (2017)
Could of been great
I just watched the 1st and I assume only season and boy.. this show had potential but it could just never figure out what it wanted to be.
Craig Robinson and Adam Scott have the chemistry and comedy chops (The Office, Parks and Recs alum I mean cmon! ) but the story line writers dropped the ball. The Pilot episode was not a great start, and the following episodes seemed rushed with random paranormal story lines. I actually enjoyed the later episodes more than the beginning ones.
I give this a 7 rating only because even throughout the random storylines, there's some pretty funny dialogue and interaction between the characters and especially with Craig and Adam. Even though I was annoyed at the overall story, I still found myself laughing at something in each episode.
I'm also pretty sure they left an outtake scene in one of the last episodes with Adam and Craig breaking character and laughing ( I thought it was hilarious that they left it in). So I know they had fun making this show and it could of been great, but the multiple random story lines just couldn't hold it together.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Great for family movie night
I find it amusing when adults rate kids movies so harshly. To even rate this movie below a 7 is criminal. It has beautiful unique animation, fun and quirky humor and great voice acting. But the most important thing is that my 5 year old loves it, you know who the movie is made for.
When a children's movie can entertain both kid and parent, that's a huge win, and for a Netflix release The Mitchell's vs. The Machines accomplishes just that.
