Let the Right One In (2022)
Bland. Read the book instead
Do yourself a favor and read the book. And then see the two film versions.
This is a terrible adaptation, it kills almost everything that makes this story fascinating.
No sense of mystery, no emotions, no desolation, no love or intimacy. Nada.
One of the keys is how "small" the story is supposed to be, it happens to a small group of people in a small community/neighborhood, Here they expand the story and therefore all the setting is lost.
This Tik-tok "relatable Eli, plus the father-daughter relationship (literally here) ruins the whole guardian-vampire dynamic, the new Oscar (the bullied boy) is also watered-down, you can see the lack of budget on some cheap green screen, and the attempt at "poetic" scenes imitating Alfredson falls flat.
All the adult characters are boring af, and the Eli-Oskar scenes are forgettable.
They should do a miniseries following the book.
