The Invitation (II) (2022)

Not that bad. A fun watch. Go in blind.
1 April 2023
I enjoyed watching this. I thought it was a fun movie. The marketing team did a disservice to the twist by revealing it in the trailer and posters. I think if they kept it a secret people would have enjoyed the movie more. Everyone is complaining about the bad script. I disagree. Not every movie needs to be a masterpiece. Sometimes we just want to chill, watch a movie and be entertained.

I wouldn't have bothered leaving a review but felt compelled after reading all the 1 stars on here. I find it funny that everyone is trashing this film because the main character happens to be a black women who makes a few comments about race and the ultra wealthy treating the staff like dirt. Apparently that makes people irrationally mad.

Powerful Film

I truly don't understand why this received poor reviews from critics. I thought it was a fantastic film. It was raw and emotional, nicely shot and had great acting. Lehman was fantastic throughout and the eleveator scene with Fanning was one of the best I've seen from her. It makes you feel all sorts of ways, and is the type of movie that sticks with you for days. I will by buying the dvd to show support to everyone involved.

Before I Fall (2017)

Not bad, but falls short compared to the book.

This movie is definitely worth a watch but does not have enough character and story development. It's a great idea but falls flat compared to its source material. Seriously, the book is 100 times better.

For some reason the filmmakers decided to rearrange the sequence of events and leave out important lines and moments that made the book so impactful. I have no idea why they decided to do this because it really hinders the movie. The book is so emotionally investing and moving, and it's a real shame I did not get that same feeling here.

And on a less serious note, the main actress was great but she looks like a grad student, not a highschooler. It really took me out of the moment.
