Quantum Leap: Let Them Play (2023)
Now we are trying way too hard
Ok I love the original Quantum Leap and I have been trying to give the reboot a chance... I've watched every episode and there are times I see hope but the last 3 weeks I am really rethinking this.
So after AGT AND Cody's big win I decided to watch this episose like.
Warning this episode has the production feel of a 1980's/1990's Saved By The Bell Episode.
The lighting is cheesy and the writing is amature and at times the acting is horrible. I mean who pulls up in a car, starts throwing things at this girl (trans character) as a bullying tactic.. waiting for a reaction as the boys laugh and it was just pathetic to be honest and if you really wanted to make a statement about this topic put some serious thought into it and maybe then as the audience we can start to educate ourselves and be kinder and understand more on this topic.
But no, they didn't do this, instead it is so tough to watch, so uncomfortable. The actess isn't so bad to be honest and very pretty and convincing at points to some real experiences, but when they get into the idea of calling out, educating and healing its falls apart again.
Even she seems to loose track of the character she's playing and the whole thing doesn't feel empathetic, it looses that and she even becomes, along with others too preachy, almost bully like. Shouldn't we have a discussion instead of becoming the bully ourselves??
Black Adam (2022)
Dwayne Johnson is playing The Rock
I know so many will say I'm being picky but Dwayne Johnson shouldn't have been cast in this roll, honestly this is movie is to big for him.
His lines are so simplistic that I wonder if he can do more.
I honestly believe in a few years many will feel the same.
And he seems to pose in every scene wirh very limited motion for the most part.. it's just strange.
Ok as for the movie - its fun, some really great battle scenes and well directed. The story line is a bit odd at times, almost repetitive and the movie is 20mins too long. There are plenty of laughs, which were fun but I honestly think because DJ is the actor - it can't be so serious.
I'm starting to feel we are near the end of all these standard good vs evil super hero films done this way... very clean, simple plot, same formula. Yea Batman, Superman and a few others will survive because they tend to have a deeper plot. Look even Star Wars is getting warn out; same plot different actors.
Hellraiser (2022)
A totally soft take on what was once a really scary franchise
When a movie's 1st 15mins has to explain whats going on then jumps into a pinhead fight sceen you know things are not going to be good.
The middle 3rd isn't so bad for a sit at home movie, similar in taste to the 1st 2 Hellraisers which isn't so bad but that lasts about 15mins, which then gets too preechy.
Here we meet some new society members, see some struggle with her addiction and then like a flip of a channel we are racing into the final 3rd of the film - good vs evil / women over coming the evil men.
Now before we briefly talk about the final 3rd I have to mention that at this point the movie 100% lost its way. From cheesy attempts to be relevant in the horror world of films, very bad acting, and worse of all the lightening is just terrible (add in poorly executed makeup and special affects) so many will hit stop even before the end.
So yea the last 3rd of the film is an absolute abomination of story telling, leaving us in what seems a very bad 80s sequel but updated to Disney 2022.
Giving this film a 4 wasn't easy, I didn't want to just give it a 2 because of the Disney streak of ruining everything good in the movie world, so I left it at 4.
If you are ever so bored and want to waste a a little less than 90mins watch this Hellraiser and this is coming from someone who watched evey Hellraiser movie along with fan movies..
Take it and burn this horrible film.
The Woman King (2022)
Super High Expectations fell flat Really Fast
So there are very few films nowadays that I actually get excited for, sure Top Gun lived up to and surpassed any expectations, so to say the least I was excited to see this film.
This start out pretty good sort of a little bit of a history lesson then goes into a really good fight scene . But then you realize this movie is really discombobulated with zero direction. I honestly think someone had an idea but couldn't think of how to conclude it - like most Stephen King novels.
It went from 1 scene to another and they never really connected. Almost like watching a B rated movie. I'm not sure who edited this but not good.
Sure there is some good acting, 2 fight scenes, but where is the music score?? There were time you had zero background music and it was weird.
Overall this movie is crap, honestly its not remotely good but for the 1st 10mins.
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022)
Blue Print Of previous film part 3
Ok so there are laughs in it and yes lots of fun parts, but when the credits start rolling you are like huh...
Why, well it seems very similar and very forced with what they are trying to say here in Part 4 vs Part 3.
I have to say this has to be the final film .
My 7, 5 and 3 said it waa boring.
Oh and the daughters voice doesn't fit - her character is a strong girl, but the voice comes off whiney.
Chad (2021)
Who approved this?
I watched this just to make sure this wasn't a joke, a middle-aged women playing a teenage boy, dressed horribly isn't wrong?? Or at least odd?
So is it a he or she, straight or a lesbian? What is the point?
So ok, you messed up with casting.. umm well there's more. The pilot seems to be written by a 14 years old rookie.
Person of Interest: Return 0 (2016)
Watched Season Finale 5 years later
So my wife and I watched this show religiously, loved this show from the start.
Episode 1 was done so well, from the acting to the writing to the directing and color.
So over the next 4.5 years we watched evey episode, honestly I can't recall a bad episode!.
So anyways nearing the finale my wife screwed me, she gave birth to our 2nd child in 2 years - shortly after that our 3rd in 4 years... haha 😄
With that said we couldn't watch the final, then all of a sudden all 3 kids are in bed tonight (1-12-21) by 9pm (Covid-19 times things got rough)..
All I can say is wow, what an emotional roller-coaster. I mean I can't recall being on my seat for a finale one moment and the next sad that one of my friends is gone...
I think with final episodes comes the emotion of something changing and ending and that we will not see these people in this capacity again, yea I'm sad and yeah 4 years later too.
I've watched dozens of series from beginning to end and this is equal with that of All in the Family's , Everyone loves Raymond'd and MASH's finale. The only difference is All in the Family and Person of Interest were great beginning to end.
I give this a rare, a very rare 10/10 and would like to thank the cast & crew for giving me something to look foward to each week..
If you've never watched this show do, like someone said here prior to be, its like a straight arrow beginning to end...
Scoob! (2020)
Waited a year to be Semi Disappointed / Scooby Fans Give it a try
Special Effects great
Plot - tolerable to annoying (not sure why Captain Cavemen is in here. Even Blue Falcon is in it too much).
Voices - Scooby, Shaggy Great
Velma Horrible
Dalpne ok
Fred very good
My 6 year old likes it, but lets see if she watches it again. My 4 year left after 25mins - and she watches most Disney films completely.
Ok so the 1st 1/2, besides when Scooby & Shaggy meet, of the movie is a bit over done - story is all over the place. There are some funny parts though. , but Velma is beyond annoying moreso then any Scooby-Doo episode or DVD movie.
And the actress doing her voice is monotone - has she ever watched Scooby-doo??
The 2nd 1/2 is much better, but again is a modern take on Scooby, thats ok but I just wish it had some hint of the Scooby we all grew up on loving.
The last 15mins is def the best part of the film.
Ok so seems my 6 year old did like it.
Give it a try.
Miss Bala (2019)
This should have never been made
Ok I got free tickets to see this this one , there were no more than 10 people in the theater.
I don't understand the point of this film, the plot is weaker than a 2012 Steven Seagal film that goes direct to video, at least Steven acts his part.
Rodriguez is so unconvincing, so not up for this part that whomever casted her in this role should never work on a major film again. Did she even prepare herself before filming started??
The music is also pretty bad, almost seems dubbed over, scenes seem randomly put together at certain points.
This is a very amateurish take at producing, directing, and acting in a major studio release.
Who thought this would make ANY money??
Did anyone even consider Miss Bala's character should be rough and tough but also be sexy (Jolie..did it). Maybe Alba would have been better.
