Dying Light (2015)
Mechanics Are Only Redeeming Quality
My god. The game's story is... just... so bad. They give you a bunch of characters, take like five minutes each developing them, and then kill them off before you can even start to give a damn about them, all the while making it seem like some horrible tragedy.
The main bad guy (Rais) is so intensely aggravating, you just hate him--you don't *like* to hate him. There also isn't any kind of nuance--everything is either good, bad, or undead.
There are *maaaybe* three good voice actors in the whole game, and it really doesn't help that the writing is unrealistic at best and cringey at worst.
The gameplay is repetitive, and they don't properly prepare you for most scenarios, so you're kind of just thrown in blind. Some things also just don't make ANY sense. For example: if you fall 60 stories, but you manage to land on the roof of a car? Totally fine. No damage. ???
The ONLY redeemable quality about this game, and what makes it a blast to play with friends (not the story--don't do that, just explore. Do side quests, whatever. Just not the main story), is the mechanics, i.e. the parkour & combat, but even that makes zero sense sometimes. Fighting human enemies is idiotic--at lower levels, they take forever, dodge everything, and they can even block throwing stars with their weapons. How does that make ANY sense??
Space Force (2020)
Military Propaganda?
Pretty funny, but I definitely get the sense with certain episodes that it's pretty heavy on the military propaganda. It tries to disguise itself by giving you the anti-war, pacifistic scientist as the foil to the leader of 'Space Force', but the show invariably sides with the military man.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
Didn't See That Coming
One of those rare shows that keep you on the edge of your seat rooting for the "heroes", but also makes you reevaluate your life upon completion.
iZombie (2015)
A Heartwarming Show About... Zombies?
IZombie gets a 9 from me, whereas another, more serious zombie show like the Walking Dead got a 7, because unlike that gritty drama, iZombie never took itself *too* seriously. It's a fun, comedy-packed flick all the way through while delivering some pretty awesome character development, touching moments, and gut-punches. This is the kind of show that defies definition. It's a drama, comedy, horror, rom-com, action, etc.

And the message it starts to send after the world finds out about zombies? *chef kiss*
Metro Exodus (2019)
Bad Acting
I got really hooked on getting this game from the trailers--a gorgeous world full of nightmarish horrors to fight? Sounds awesome! Except the voice acting in this game is *so* clunky and awkward that it took me riiiight out of it. Immersion destroyed. The gameplay itself isn't fun enough to warrant the terrible dialogue (a la Dying Light, for example), and the controls are clunky at best. Sad.
