Heart of the Country (2013)
Jana Kramer's 2nd best film since "Approaching Midnight"
I would call this Jana Kramer's 2nd best film since "Approaching Midnight". Jana in this one stars as Faith, in a story based on the prodigal son returning home (however this is the prodigal daughter). Approaching Midnight takes better advantage of her acting chops and it was theatrical while this picture was a direct to video piece. I heard that this was a vehicle to promote Jana's music but I was hoping for more of her tracks to be played throughout the movie in subtle ways. I would watch this movie again on DVD however because of Jerry McRaney a great actor with a solid part that was given to him. The locations are pretty solid for this movie too. I enjoyed seeing the south on camera. I think more films should be filming in the south and Heart of the Country takes advantage of some great locations.

GREAT CAMEOS! and Detroit!
I have friends in Detroit and think the coolest thing about this move is that the great American city of Detroit stood in for Gotham and for Metropolis. I hope Warner Bros takes notice and films all the DC movies in the MotorCity. The other reason I watched this film is because I heard about the great cameos! The Flash (Ezra Miller) Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and even the EMMY Nominated Sam Logan Khaleghi made a cameo appearance as a character called "DC Protester". When I saw the credits in the theatre and saw his name, I was really hoping that Sam Logan Khaleghi would have played "Robin" or "Nightwing", I think that would have been perfect casting as a cameo but I will take what we are given.

A BEAUTIFUL FILM - Mia Serafino's Best!
A seriously beautiful film with a such a poignant cast telling a poignant story during a poignant time in modern history.
I have been waiting and certainly hope for Jana Kramer and Sam Logan Khaleghi to team up on camera again. This is Jana's best performance and it is because Logan-Khaleghi uplifts her and challenges her in her scenes to become and be the best actress that is within her. Her character in "Approaching Midnight" was much better than her characterization in "Heart of the Country". Aside from that, I want to point out the brilliant cinematography of Carl Ballou known for his work on the upcoming Sam Raimi film "Don't Breathe" starring Stephen Lang (of AVATAR fame). This is also Mia Serafino's best performance to date. I like her on the NBC show "Crowded" but here she really gets to shine with a real character in a real drama. Her scenes with Sam Logan Khaleghi remind me of some classic monologues and dialogues between two characters in independent film that make indie film great. The fun thing about this particular film is that in many ways it doesn't seem like an independent film, but rather a smart and suspenseful drama.
