The Crowded Room (2023)
Tom Holland is incredible
Let me start by saying that this show is a little bit of a slow burn in the beginning. It was slow the first several episodes, but I couldn't stop watching because I was dying to know what the resolution would be. About halfway through, you will start putting things together and when they finally reveal themselves, you will be shocked that you never saw it coming. This is one of those shows where you want to watch it over and over after knowing what happens. It is so well done and profound. I came out of watching looking at things differently. Oh, and Tom Holland is one of the best talents of our generation. Simply phenomenal. Must watch.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Just no.
I dont even know where to begin. I was left wondering if this movie was supposed to be a comedy and I'm genuinely still unsure. Every single character is a complete moron and none of the goings on make any attempt at coherence or sense. I'm blown away.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Just okay. It's pretentious to call it more
If you want to see a stunning performance by Nicole Kidman as the worst person in the entire world, this is the one for you.
Arrival (2016)
More than a movie
If you want to bawl your eyes out and leave this film with a deeper appreciate for what you have, I strongly recommend.
The Housewife and the Hustler (2021)
Eye opening
I watched as a fan of RHOBH and of Erika. But WOW this was absolutely insane. The things that Tom Girardi did were so unbelievably shocking, at least for those of us whose impression of him is shaped around the Bravo show. Erika has always been private, so this was eye opening to say the least. Loved every minute.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
First season is good, the rest is a dumpster fire
Enjoyed the first season and it's why I kept watching and hoping for the best. But the following seasons are either too political, have too much going on at once, or make you hate Sabrina. I was driven to write this review bc Sabrina is so selfish CONSTANTLY and I just hit my breaking point w her where I don't even root for her anymore. There will be something clearly wrong or an easy solution and she finds a way to eff it up by making it about herself and far more difficult rather than just fixing things IT IS INFURIATING.
Kiernan Shipka is so cute and I love watching her so I hate that I hate her character. Also Aunt Zee goes from being the strict voice of reason in the first season to being as selfish and dim witted as Sabrina. And with all of the issues they shove in one episode they could and should make into 3. It's so annoying I could scream I swear.
Will & Grace: Cheaters (2001)
Wtf?
I cannot understand why they wouldn't have made this one episode. Part 2 of cheaters is a "recap" (ya lol okay) that was essentially the entirely of part one played over again with a couple mins of new material. So you watch part one, then you watch it again and get a teensy bit of new footage. Whoever decided this episode should be split into two and be copies of each other with a very small difference in the last 3 minutes, do us all a favor and have a lobotomy.
See (2019)
Phenomenal in EVERY Aspect
There are a lot of reviews that I've read where people say that this show is beautifully shot, but ultimately nonsensical; I could not disagree more. The premise of the show is that a virus of some sort has created a dystopian, even post-apocalyptic sort of world in which everyone is born blind and therefore must survive only with the other four senses. As we should all know, when someone loses one of their senses, the others become more sensitive, so it is in no way nonsensical that people who, for hundreds of years, have been without sight that they would develop almost supernaturally sensitive touch, hearing, taste, or touch. This show is a brilliant and brain-stimulating glance into the possibilities of what society could become if everyone in the world lost their sense of sight.
Over the generations, some information of what once was and certain knowledge that is vital to surviving such as how to build, cook, navigate, etc. would be passed down while technology among other modern innovations would be lost because how could a society of blind people possibly benefit from those things? It is a simple concept of people having to rely on what they can do when something is taken away and I don't understand why the people who are critical of this show because they think that the characters should just use modern innovations to fix everything can't grasp what this show is getting at.
The writers did a fantastic job of truly thinking of how things would be different. Why would the characters live in the houses that were left behind when they have to forage for their food in the wilderness? Why wouldn't learning how to build things be a fundamental concept that would be passed down through the generations? When you watch this show and see how they communicate through knots, how some have come to believe that the sun is God because it controls everything around them, how they navigate with dogs and keen senses of hearing, and much more, you will be intellectually stimulated as you consider how long it would take to create a society in which blind people can effectively live as well as they possibly can without vision. I mean really, how long would it take to create a language of knots that can say as much as a written sentence can? There was a point in time in which people grunted at each other before language was created, so it's not an outlandish idea at all, but rather a realistic and compelling one. This show will make you appreciate your sense of sight in a way that you never have before. I found that after I watched this show, I started forgetting that people around me could see me, or I would watch a different show afterwards and forget that the people in that show could see. It is truly that fascinatingly engulfing.
Imagine if everyone lost their sight tomorrow. Now think of the very distant future in which the people have heard rumors that their great-grandparents' great-great-grandparents' had told them about the existence of books; a rumor that is so far-fetched to them that they can't comprehend the idea of an item that puts knowledge directly into your mind just by looking at it. Now, tell me, do you think those people are living in the society that we've created, having potlucks at the neighbor's house and going to Bible studies on Sunday? Of course not. Those who write this show off as unrealistic or "ridiculous" simply haven't put in the time to actually consider what life would be like if their most essential asset were to be taken away from them. Don't listen to the critics. Do you and your brain a favor and watch it for yourself.
