Elizabethtown (2005)
If you haven't seen this movie, don't. Cause you're not missing much...
I went to go see this movie with a few of my girlfriends, expecting a sweet, lighthearted romantic comedy. What I got was a confusing, plot less and pointless pile of Kentucky Fried Nothing. The movie begins with Orlando Bloom and his "fiasco" at his job. The gist, he lost his company $1 billion and got canned. From the previews, you'd think that's what the movie's about. But nuh uh. It gets worse. Throughout the whole movie, or at least after Orlando and Kirsten meet, I'm sitting there thinking "OK I know they're gonna get together, but when." The movie continues on and as it progresses you wonder what's keeping them from the smooches that should be commencing. Kirsten keeps talking about her boyfriend Ben. So OK, there's the obstacle between them. That is until you find out that Ben isn't real and that there is no REAL OBSTACLE between them. Therefore, that just makes Kirsten look like a crazy stalker chick. So I must ask the writers of Elizabethtown...WHAT THE HELL WAS THE POINT OF THE MOVIE!!!! It made no sense and was just a convoluted mess, from beginning to end, with only one or two funny one-liners. So as I said, if you haven't seen this movie...don't cause you're not missing much.
Woman Wanted (1999)
Very Interesting and Poignant, With A Sardonic Side
I am the hugest Kiefer Sutherland fan, so when I was flipping through the channels and saw this movie, I immediately had to watch it. So I did. I wasn't entirely sure what would come out of the movie, but I was surprised to find myself somewhat pleased. Sutherland did an excellent job in acting and directing this film. Moriarty was a very unique character, and Hunter brought a sort of wholesomeness to the movie. However, I do agree that the ending is a little mind boggling. I know that Hunter's character went to church and prayed for a child, but I didn't believe it would happen. As the previous reviewer said, no one really knows who the father of the child is and that is creepy. But when you see the end, you notice that there is a picture of both men kissing the top of the child's head, so whatever the answer is to the question of the child's father, it may not seem relevant. What is relevant is that this poignant story of father and son finally coming together, despite many obstacles is truly a story to behold.
