Sugar: The Friends You Keep (2024)
Sorry I do not buy the twist of the story
I like noir films, I like Raymond Chandler, The Big Sleep, The Long Goodbye, I like Phillip Marlowe. I love Dashiell Hammett too, The maltese Falcon, The Thin Man, I love John Dickson Carr, Rex Sout, Agatha Christie, Patricia Highsmith, Arthur Conan Doyle, I read a lot of detective, crime stories, I watched countless noir films, and I like inexpected twist plots, unexpected suspects, and insolvable crimes. I like Ross Macdonald, Graham Green, even Elmore Loenar and Donald Welstlake. When I started to watch Sugar, I was pleasent surprise bocause of the tone, the music, the old movies scenes inserted in the action, even if I am not a fan of Colin Farrell, he was right on the nail for the role in this show..... all until this chapter, so, no, I do not buy the twist on the story, is cheap, is a kindda Deus Ex Machina like on greek tragedies, when everything was so messy that you do need a actual God to solve it..... but here? In thi story? You really wasted a good development story with that alien crap? Sorry, farewell and so long, but no.
Entourage: Give a Little Bit (2009)
Amazing episode! Jeremiy Piven Kills it!!!!
This is an amazing episode!!!! Jermy Piven totally kills it, he deserves huge credit for his performance, but also, you have an amazing Matt Damon cameo as himself and a post credit scene that is also true entertaining and self reconnaissance of the whole show, I wish there were more epidodes like this one, It is a big remainder of because why I am still seeing this in 2024...... I hope more people recognize wht a diamond this show is and it deserves a highest score in all website's review .... of course, the rest of the cast is flawless as usual... even the marriage counselor is nailing the role in her 30 seconds.....
Hope you all enjoy it like I do.
Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea (2023)
Sorry, not buying it.........
I am an old scifi lover of books, movies and everything that has a little bit around the subject. I ve seen The Twilight Zone (the original one created and written by Rod Serling and others heavy champion of the golden scifi era) Star Trek, Star Wars and hundreds of others including russian, french, britain, and latin authors including Borges, H. G. Wells, E. R. Burroughs, Edgar Allan Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Arthur Conan Doyle, Arcadi and Boris Strugakiff, Robert Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Arthus Clarkea nd many, many others, and I am simply not buying this episode writing, acting and concept.... sorry, this is not acceptable by any of my standards today..... maybe next episodes will redeem this bitter taste in my brain..... but if it is not the case, I will look on other shows the quality I always expect of these kind of shows.... etter luck next time!!!!
Hunters: Eilu v' Eilu (2020)
Good plot, not new but original twists
Al Pacino is still doing an amazing work playing this character multiple sided, you can enjoy his subtle ways of playing, he is still one of the greatest actors of all time... Logan Lerman is fine in his role and Josh Radnor is a little bit off. Greg Austin is superb as the sociopath villain here. Dylan Baker is always correct and have the right physique du role for the part.... The rest of the cast delivers well and also the plot, while is not completely original, have very interesting twists... I really enjoyed very much this particular episode. I can not wait to start and watch the second season.
Dead Ringers: Two (2023)
It could be possible to be more bizarre?
It could be possible to be more bizarre? Probably yes, but in this episode the writers push a lot of boundaries.... Anyway I love the acting, Rachel Weisz is so amazing doing the double role, probably in the future this will be remembered as her capo lavoro... I know it is not for everyone, but for me is nearly perfect.... I am eager to watch what is coming next...... The settings, the locations, the dark tone, the ironic humour, a lot of jokes about a lot of not pollitically correct things... It is true, this is possible thanks to David Cronenberg who start to deals with this subject years ago.....
Color Out of Space (2019)
H.P.Lovecraft and Nicholas Cage, what could go wrong?
I love H. P. Lovecraft universe and stories, and I looooooove Nicholas Cage in this role, he loose all the limits and boundaries, but he is terrific in his role of Nathan, he hits the exact tone the character needs. I am aware that is very difficult to adapt Lovecraft writings to the silver screen, but in this case the effort really paid off. The election of the Magenta is a high point to the effects.... even the blood looks magenta in some of the shots... Is it camp, is it gore, is it kitsch? It does not matter at all....
Kudos to all the actors that make a wonderful job in this film!!!!!!!!!!!!
