Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife (2018)
Non stop laughs
She's back! I was really hoping she would come back again, never expected her to be pregnant again on another special. She's got the pregnant lady wobble-walk down.
If I had to compare to another comic I'd say she's a lot like an Asian female version of Kevin Hart, just seems naturally funny and energetic, at least on stage, and makes jokes about her life.
I loved her first netflix special 'Baby Cobra', and this one is the same Ali Wong style but with her life inspirations in early motherhood/family life since then.
Here's hoping that when her kids can walk or speak she'll have a bunch of new experiences for another special :-)
Mr. Pickles (2013)
It's perfect for laid back people
Stuck up politically correct people everywhere will hate this show. Casual people will enjoy it, it is entertaining, the artwork is gory but beautiful. From an animation perspective it is just flawless. Compared to something like family guy where precious art talent is wasted on boring plots this show is a masterpiece. It must take a ton of effort to make each episode. Makes even Rick and Morty look inferior.
Den of Thieves (2018)
If you like bank robber movies, this is a pretty good one.
It is about 66% as good as inside man, which was a 45 million budget movie from 2006, this is a 30 mil movie 12 years later so really the budget is quite low, but delivers about what you'd expect for that budget. Was entertaining, actors did a good job.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
Completely reinvented itself
I watched this when it first came out (season 1) for about two episodes, I remember it being so bad I have avoided it ever since. But season 5 is like a completely different level of television. I haven't seen the other seasons, but I can tell you season 5 is enjoyable for every second of every episode, so the show has won me back.
Dunkirk (2017)
Awful
People got up and LEFT
This was about the most boring movie I've ever seen in my life, it was painful, I learned absolutely nothing about the story except that there were men, boats, and planes. And all of those things are portrayed in the most boring possible fashion. This is one of the biggest wastes of time and resources in film that I've ever seen.
People just got up and left watching this film, ranging from pretty young to older folks. I don't blame them, wish I had done the same.
Wrecked (2016)
Comedy perfection on all levels
The writing is impeccable, I'm serious, this is a comedy TV show but it has better writers than 100+ million dollar movies. Rewatch value is through the roof, because the depth of the script is so insane.
The directing/acting is also impeccable, most of the actors aren't super famous and I can't imagine better acting from anyone else for their roles. Literally every single character nails their part. The directing/sound effects and music are all on point, you cannot ask for more than this.
On top of that, it's actually funny and entertaining for every microsecond of every episode, as they all deliver, all of the time.
Everybody who had/has a part to play in making this show has my utmost thanks, this is what 10/10 stars is.
The pilot itself was a masterpiece for the short time frame they had to introduce most characters, while still being hilarious. The show grows on you even more over time, watch as many episodes as you can back to back for the best enjoyment, as there is a lot of depth that is forgotten about if you watch episodes too far apart.
Ali Wong: Baby Cobra (2016)
Funniest comic I've ever seen and I've watched all the major ones
Best pregnant comic in history (and a really great one even without that title).
Especially good humor for people between age of 18-35
Maybe it was just a killer performance as she is not that widely known but it made me laugh more than any other stand up ever.
The whole thing was like a movie plot with good writers behind it, which I'm not a critic so I don't care much about plots, but in this case it really helped it seem natural to deliver the jokes one after the other, not disjointed at all.
Just don't watch it with your parents ;)
Meet the Blacks (2016)
It's funny. It's average.
It has good actors, a good budget, and is funny throughout.
It's good entertainment, it doesn't deserve a 2.6 IMDb rating which it has at the time of this review. It deserves about a 6 at least.
It's not a hilarious movie at all, but it would be funny to average movie goer.
If you like funny movies and merely want to be entertained, it should give you plenty of that. If you are a film critic, you're going to cringe as you watch this movie.
That's because film critics are totally different than average movie goers.
