Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
One of the best shows ever made.
I really enjoy Buffy the Vampire slayer and have watched every episode at least twice and never get bored.
The good thing about this show is the variety and the characters they create. The plots in each season are excellent.
Characters such as Giles, Xander, Willow, Buffy and Spike are so well thought out by the creators. Also the actors themselves have really done themselves proud.
I would say this is still the best t.v show of this genre even though the show stopped being made years ago. More recent shows in the same genre just have not really caught up in terms of quality in my opinion. There are some good ones but not as good as Buffy.
My favourite season is probably season 4, but other fans of Buffy will have varied opinions. Watching back now season 1 does seem outdated but remember it was made nearly 20 years ago and is still an enjoyable watch.
Favourite seasons. There are seven seasons in total.
SEASON 4(BEST) 6,5,7,1,3,2
If your into this type of genre I would highly recommend watching.
Angel (1999)
Unfortunately I have mixed emotions.
Having been and still a big fan of Buffy the Vampire slayer, I was pleased to see that Joss Whedon was making a TV series about Angel.
Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The first few seasons were good but it kind of went down hill from there. I really don't want to be harsh about Angel but it felt like they were running out of ideas towards the end.
Some of the characters were brilliant though especially Lorne and of Course Angel. It wasn't all bad and some of the episodes where really good.
Looking back on the creation of Angel the TV series I don't think they should have done it. Maybe they could have put some of them ideas in to making a few more series of Buffy instead. Which in my opinion would have worked out better.
Straight Outta Compton (2015)
Better than expected but slightly untruthful.
The films good but there are some scenes where they make themselves look better than they are/were. For example blaming everything on there previous manager or the way they were treated in certain situations.
Yes there were probably times where they were treated harshly and discriminated against which was wrong, but they did bring some of it on themselves, and in the film they didn't show that when they should of. I feel it would have made this a more genuine film rather than trying to make themselves look good and in the right all the time.
Having said that the film was interesting and it was good to see how they all met and went on to further there careers, or unfortunately what else happened to some of them.
An interesting film to watch and I would recommend but slightly untruthful in my opinion.
American Wedding (2003)
Really funny, one of the best American pies. (NO SPOILERS)
If you want to watch a film that is funny and has a feel good vibe to it then this is the one. There is a tiny hint of seriousness to it as well which combines well.
Jim is basically getting married to Michelle and the wedding planning is on but of course there are a few hiccups.
The funniest character in this film is Stiffler and he really makes the film to be honest. Especially the dance scene in the night club. (Enough said) Finch and Stiffler renew there rivalry and Jim makes a fool of himself on a few occasions.
There are plenty of funny moments in this film and I highly recommend.
Knowing (2009)
An enjoyable film. (NO SPOILERS)
I like these types of films and enjoyed this one as well. Its not the best film of this type I have seen but its still worth watching.
Basically The main character who is played by Nicolas Cage has a son and one day he brings home a sheet of paper with a load of numbers on it. He got the sheet of paper from a time capsule that was buried 50 odd years previously by students who went to the same school. Cage is fascinated by this and discovers the numbers point to previous disasters that have happened throughout the world. He then realises some of the numbers point towards possible future disasters. I wont say any more as its best to watch the film.
The plot itself is relativity strong but does have a few minor flaws. There is a fair amount of mystery and action in the film as well.
I would recommend this film especially for people who like films such as 2012 or the day after tomorrow.
2012 (2009)
A really good natural disaster film. (NO SPOILERS)
This is certainly in my top 10 films I have watched. I really like these types of films and this one had it all for me. There is a lot of twists and turns as well as a lot of action.
The plot is based around a family where the parents have separated and the mum has a new partner. There is a large earth quake where they live as well as other major disasters worldwide, they all have to try and survive, which takes them on an epic journey.
The plot is well planned and has a lot of variety which gives you the sense of a worldwide disaster, which is always good for this type of film. The graphics are good and there is a lot of action as well as on the edge of your seat moments.
I would 100% recommend.
The Martian (2015)
One of the best films I have seen.
I really enjoyed this film it has a mixture of Action, suspense and makes you think. Which involves the viewer in the film even more. I would go as far as saying this is one of my Favourite films of all time.
Basically this film is about a man who gets stuck on Mars and has to work out ways to survive. Matt Damon played the main character really well and the plot was excellent. The film had me going through a range of emotions from hope, desperation and belief.
The film makes you think as well in terms of what would I do in that situation and some of the things they come up with is impressive.
I would 100% recommend watching this.
Left Behind (2014)
Not that bad - Average
Having read reviews before watching this I had low expectations but it's not actually that bad. Yes the plot could be slightly better and the film does come across as "Budget" at times. The main character is a pilot played by Nicolas Cage and I thought he done well considering.
(NO SPOILERS) The film is basically themed around the Rapture where loads of people just disappeared into thin air only leaving there belongings behind. No one knows why this has happened apart from a minority who are seen as mad or going mad. Most of the film is set on a plane where the crew and passengers are confused but have to deal with technical problems with the plane and they have to try and get back to an airport whilst they are over the Atlantic.
This is basically a Mystery/Aviation film with a little bit of Action as well. (That's the way it came across to me)
At times the film came across as a little bit narrow minded and didn't have as much action as I thought it would. I'm not sure if this was a budget movie but it did come across that way sometimes and I felt they could have made a bigger impact, for example there could have been scenes showing the global impact of people going missing just so you got more of a sense this was global rather than being concentrated on the plane all the time.
Overall an OK film and not as bad as you think its going to be
