Model Hunger (2016)

Best Indie Horror Movie of 2016
3 May 2017
Debbie Rochon's directorial debut is a hilarious and thought-provoking horror movie with a stellar cast that reveals more with each viewing. The script by James Mogart not only had me laughing throughout, but it is also a great social commentary on how society views women as they age. Ginny (played by the incredible Lynn Lowry) lures young women into her home and cannibalizes them in many unforgettable scenes that manage to be horrifying as well as funny. Tiffany Shepis plays a new neighbor dealing with mental issues who becomes obsessed with her new neighbor eventually leading to a showdown. I especially loved the TV show the whole town couldn't stop watching, Suzi's Secrets, where Babette Bombshell is featured as lingerie model encouraging women to love their bodies. Lastly, I was very impressed by how talented Debbie Rochon is behind the camera. Please direct more, Debbie! With 9 wins and 18 nominations, it's obvious that many others loved this film as much as me. A must see for any true horror fan!

Treachery (I) (2013)

So much Treachery...
4 June 2016
Having grown up watching Michael Biehn in so many great James Cameron blockbusters, it was cool to see a different side of him. Plot was decent. I did like the setting with the rain forcing everyone to confront their own demons. Plus is was cool to see the movie as a flashback and know something big had happened due to all the treachery. It was obvious the actors were definitely giving it their all especially Biehn as the slimy drunk father and Matthew Ziff as the troubled son. Great dysfunctional father and son relationship there! I definitely want to give this movie another try, since I did enjoy the dialogue between the various actors. Besides it is important to support those indie films!

Great Mash-up of a Shoot'em up Western and a Supernatural tale
26 May 2016
I immediately watched this when it became available on streaming this past week and I wasn't disappointed at all!! Talk about great action scenes and a weird storyline involving demons and devils...what more could a guy ask for?

Lane McCrae, played to the hilt by Kaleo Griffith, becomes the Devil's (Eric Roberts at his finest) bounty hunter in order to save himself and his brother's life. His mission is to hunt down demons, but gets waylaid by Zaretha (Lorraine Ziff bringing complexity and sexiness to the embodiment of death) that is being controlled by the bad guys for their own nefarious needs. Lane is joined by his girlfriend and two sidekick strangers, Muna and Hawk. Matthew Ziff especially rocks as Hawk, a cowboy confused by all the strange events but willing to pursue the right path with Lane. Many great fight scenes as well for all who enjoy a good Western. Can't wait to watch again, since I can tell this movie reveals more and more each time it's viewed!
