Bluey: Handstand (2020)
Hits Home
This episode is just so true. How often are parents so busy getting everything ready for an amazing birthday party or event? When all your kid wants is just attention. Serious Bluey is just so well done and more than just a child's cartoon. As a father, this literally made me cry because this was me, busy setting up the backyard and ignoring my child until the party. Super effective delivery in this episode and I feel like this show is more for parents than their kids. Amazingly well done episode and wonderfully executed. Thank you creators for this and hope someone gets this and changes the way they parent as well.
Pearl (2022)
Great Acting
Haven't seen a good movie like this in a while. A steady descent into madness was very well executed by Mia Goth. Pearls character was perfect. The pacing and sequence of events were well done. It was a good mix of horror and her crazy character was scary at times. What stood out was her 5 minute monologue which was just phenomenal acting. It was also not very predictable in most cases, her killing her father with the gator part. Really thought she was going to do it and was surprised the movie plot deviated and added more depth to the story. It was all tied together well with her realizing that her mother was right and that she pretty much reached the same conclusion on life as did her mother. Never heard of this movie and had no idea going in what it was about and was very pleasantly surprised.
The Last of Us: Left Behind (2023)
Great Adaptation
Loved it. As someone who has played the game and this specific DLC to the game, great job. Well done adapting this and staying true to the original story. Great character development in the game and very great in the show. It's slow pace tells Elle's story and gives more depth to the overall story. Showing her losses and the backstory to her outbursts. It's timing in the show is perfect and gives further reason to the bond she has with Joel. In the game we got this after the original game and I think this was perfectly executed in this sequence. This show has remained true to the original content and I'm very happy to they are sharing this amazing story that only the gamers knew for many years. Thank you.
The Last of Us (2023)
Nicely Done
I've played the game and I'm a big fan of it. The game itself is a great story and was very excited for this. They got a lot of the small details from the game in there right. They did their own twist to the story but it's done very well capturing the emotions. Super nice job. Gave the audience a good back story to everything and gave Sarah a good story to add to her character. Gave you some good camera angles just like in the game. Like the casting too, different and they did a good job. Overall well done, if you've never played the game you're in for a good story because it looks like they're going to do the story justice. Super excited for the next episodes. Very promising already.
Prey (2022)
Good then tanked
Really good at first. Liked the story and the development. Towards the end main character was super human and become unbelievable. She can't be hurt, like when she gets hurt it doesn't affect her. Predator straight up slammed her, nothing able to move like nothing happened. Arnold in previous movies borderline couldn't move. That's my complaint. In every movie whits beats the predator so giving her that, but here main character is also super strong apparently. Liked the shots, the action till about mid way. Predator looked super cool. Just ending frustrated me. Was nice seeing the French interaction as well.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Potential
It's a decent watch. It was getting good but the ending messes everything up. Stupidity makes the show fall short. A lot of stupid speeches acting likes this is an actual truth, it's just a show calm down. Good acting on the priest's part, liked the character development and really wish they did more with the follow through. I few they got lazy towards the end to kill everyone off for "good" to win. Really disappointed.
Invincible: Where I Really Come From (2021)
I'll still have you Dad
Man. Great show and this episode is just amazing. There's not many shows out there that can make you feel something. But that line, "I'll still have you dad" got me. Super brutal episode but the character development and the story unmatched.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Idk what's going on
Vastly different from other doctor strange movies. Not in a good way. I feel the story was not that well thought out. Effects were good. Some good one liners. Using morally on scarlet witch AFTER she murders a whole bunch of people is just a stretch but typical movie plot nowadays. One good watch. Would not recommend or watch again. Miss older marvel movies.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Seeing it in 2022 Still a Masterpiece
Dude. Keeping it simple. This movie is amazing. Great art, great story. Beats a lot of movies nowadays. Such a masterpiece. Haven't seen it since I was a kid now 31 and seeing it again, I can fully appreciate the intense story and all of the art that you just don't see anymore in movies. This movie takes me back and it was a great watch to see with the family who haven't seen it before. Highly recommend you watch it if you haven't seen it in awhile just to remember what a good movie looks like.
Maid (2021)
Idk
My wife told me she'd like to watch this and I was like okay. Idk. It's okay and a good watch but it's not all that like some of these reviews said it is. Saw some saying if you don't agree you were privileged and that struck a cord with me. I'm Latino lived in a pretty poor area and we had a LOT of single moms in my area, youngest 12. They all made it okay and are doing their things but when I compare real life poverty to this it's almost a joke. These girls I knew got multiple jobs and made things happen. Almost know one used the government where I grew up. But they made it. I can understand her this show though as a fictional story and how she really didn't know and how some people do abuse their partners and control them like what happened to her. But throughout the show I'm like really? I found the main character annoying and all the others as heartless and a little unrealistic but I could see that that could happen too. It's a decent watch but not all that in my opinion. Maybe things in Washington are different than the ghettos of Baltimore but at least they had common sense.
Shingeki no Kyojin: The War Hammer Titan (2021)
Amazing
Amazing episode! Great to see Eren get pay back for everything that happened to them. They started something and there's no going back. Can't wait to see where this goes.
Ju-on: Origins: Episode #1.4 (2020)
Had to stop and check reviews
Just wow. This episode is so messed up. No chill what so ever at all. Truly dark and gruesome. Prepare yourself for sure. I had to check the reviews on this show to see people's reactions and saw some people said this sucked. Watch this episode cause you'll definitely reconsider
#Saraitda (2020)
Just hate the dumb characters
It wasn't too bad but man. Someone said it earlier, the characters act like they've never seen a zombie movie before. A lot of plot holes in it, I hated that the power went out but he had a fully charged phone the whole time? The acting was good, scenes well shot. Just the characters decisions were very off, after being so quiet the entire time, it's a good idea to shot twice and draw the attention of all the zombies???. Scenes like that ruined it for me. But wasn't a total waste of time to watch.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Not worth your time
I've never read the books just heard of them when I was a kid. I heard they were pretty good so thought me and the wife could watch the movie expecting it to be pretty decent since Disney made it. Pretty much a waste of our evening. Not trying to completely bag on the movie but it was pretty bad. It had a lot of potential and we thought it was going to be really good, the high tech fairy world, the secrets of the family, the badass butler. None of it played into any kind of follow through after that initial mention. The characters were weird, the main character that was supposed to be a genius doesn't know what to do in situations yet continually in other scenes says he has a plan. I don't know. In simple terms; character development was not there at all, no follow through in any of the cool worlds mentioned, Very disappointing actions scenes with supposedly highly trained people doing nothing, and lastly horrible transitions to next scenes. I was very lost in the movie and honestly wanted to turn it off. Stuck around just to see if there was any hope of saving it and there wasn't.
Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)
I liked it
Yeah it felt a little rushed. Yeah it could have been better. I watched it and enjoyed the action and seeing some decent fight scenes. I liked seeing some tie ins from different timelines like flashpoint. Definitely would watch it again. Not your typical Justice League movie but it's not all bad.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Amazing
I just saw this so a little later than all the hype. Just stumbled upon this while looking for a decent movie and heard good things about it. Wasn't expecting much and the first few minutes seemed unimpressive at first. Glad I found this movie. It has a really solid storyline, great art, and such a great interesting concept. I'll never forget this movie and it is easily one of my favorite movies now. Highly recommend seeing this stunning twist of a love story.
Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize (2019)
A truly great film, take the time to watch it
My wife asked me to look this up and it was on Netflix so we decided to watch it without knowing anything about it. As it was starting I logged onto here to check out reviews and saw many people said it was good and touching.
Honestly, this is the best movie I have seen a long time or maybe my life. I cried twice and fought back many other times. Its so moving, touching, and genuinely great acting that I highly recommend this movie to everyone.
The review titled 'Damn'... you were right that's almost all I could say at times.
Truly a great movie.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
I Loved It
I see a lot of people didn't like this one and I can understand their reasons but it was a nice close to Woodys storyline after being Andy's favorite and now not really being needed by Bonnie. It was a good watch really enjoyed it and felt it was a good close to the series. It didn't have much screen time for the other characters though which I didn't mind just maybe buzz, but overall liked the new characters and the story telling that Pixar always does.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Waste of my time with fake or incompetent high reviews
Whoever honestly thought his movie was amazing or worth 10 stars is being paid off or lying. Complete waste of time, love John Wick but this was SO unrealistic compared to the others. Terrible story, action was good at first then got ridiculous all the bad guys literally just wait to be killed. Honestly don't waste your time.
The Lion King (2019)
Liked It
Read a lot of the negative reviews before going to watch it and almost didn't go. After watching it though I really enjoyed the adaptation they did of the original. I went in with an open mind knowing it's not the original and hoping just for a good movie and wasn't disappointed. They did a good job with the CGI and it was funny and they cut a lot of the singing from the original and made it, in my opinion, more realistic. Would really recommend to anyone for a nice family night.
Aladdin (2019)
Really Liked it
I went in honestly thinking it was going to be bad, I loved the animated version as a kid. Came out feeling sad it was over. Loved it all and knew when certain parts came up from the animated movie, a whole new world scene the Arabian knights song. Overall thought I was very well done not to compare it too much to the animated but enjoy it for what it was.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Just So Sad
I got many people to begin the journey of Game of Thrones over the years and re watched it many times and one last big recap from the 1st episode till the last episode of season 7 in preparation of season 8. This whole last season was a big let down and I was really hoping for a good finale to such a great show but wow... This was the last big **** you we get after staying loyal and staying with the show since 2011. We even waited 2 YEARS for this last season just to be let down so hard in this last episode. Truly a terrible ending, loved Dany and Jon and they were completely different characters this season, especially in the finale. So sad it ended this way.
