Elizabethtown (2005)
Nearly unwatchable.. don't believe the other Producer-posted reviews
Dunst is annoying. The movie rolls along at a very slow pace. You can't call it a romantic-comedy, because it is never funny. It never really tries to be. It was one of the longest two hours of my life. Even my wife, who loves Bloom, hated this movie. We were going to leave at the 1:40 mark, but I was sure something good was going to happen. It never did. The plot is unrealistic and the time frame is nearly impossible. In the first couple scenes of the movie, Bloom costs his company one billion dollars. Yes, one billion. They never really say how though. Then after debating suicide, he finds out his Dad dies and has to go to Kentucky to get his body from his fathers redneck side of the family he somehow lost touch with. During the three or four days of getting the body, his grieving mother takes tap lessons and learns to tap, goes to comedy school, learns organic cooking, and auto repair. (At the memorial she shows off her new tap skills) Dunst is an annoying, partially psychotic, stalking stewardess. I used to like her in Spiderman. But she is just hard to watch in this movie. God, this movie sucked
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005)
funniest parts were in the trailer...
I just got back from the screening.
I was in a good mood going into it. This movie ruined it.
I wanted to laugh and have a good time with a first date. My date and I tried our best to get past the script and plot and acting shortcomings, to no avail.
I wasn't a big fan of the first movie, although, it was semi-entertaining. The sequel is about half that. I smiled 5 times throughout the movie. Basically, every scene when he first meets his John, or Joan, if you will.
Spoiler-- The movie would be watchable if it would have stayed with the premise - An ugly-funny-gigilo. Instead, it introduces a serial murderer sub-plot and gets carried away. Compare it to- "Dude, Where's My Car" introducing the aliens.
I viewed it with 22 other people who had about the same reactions I did. A comment I heard on the way out was, "They showed us every funny scene in the trailer."
I just watched the trailer for the first time and would have to agree.
Catch it on video in two months when you want a movie you don't have to pay attention to...
