Fire of Love (2022)
Could have been much more interesting
I was very excited to see this film, but honestly cannot understand what all the hype is about. It was terribly disappointing - from the tedious narration, to the incredibly bored monotone narrator, to the complete lack of insight into the careers and lives of these obviously fascinating people. The entire film is spent hammering home how "in love" these people are, only you never get that sense from the footage or audio of them. You are just repeatedly told it through the very tedious and boring narration. You also never get any real sense of the amazing scientific work that they must have been doing. Instead, the husband is portrayed as a crazy daredevil whose main life goal is to float down a river of lava and the wife is portrayed as a sort of second-tier scientist whose main mission is to follow her husband, regardless of what might happen to her. I can't help but feel that they are both far more complex, intelligent and interesting than that. The filmmaker should have spent less time incessantly talking about their "great love" and more time exploring who they truly were as people.
Class Action Park (2020)
Surface-level documentary, somewhat disrespectful at times
I was expecting a deep-dive, but instead it was mostly people retelling stories of the dangers of the park in almost comedic / laughable way. The filmmakers interviewed the family of a young man who died in the park (one of five people to die there). That segment was gripping... but that was it. At the end of the film, everyone is reminiscing about the park with a sense of nostalgia while the filmmakers show the parents of the boy who died putting flowers on his grave. It was very strange and, I thought, pretty disrespectful to the family and memory of that young man.
Nailed It! (2018)
Love this hysterical series!
This series is so funny and fun to watch! The hosts are great and every episode has me laughing. Fun entertainment.
History 101 (2020)
Fact verification?
Who checked the facts for this series? "Thirty lives have been lost in space flight, all during space training"...? Um, no. Good idea for a series, poor execution.
