The Expanse: Home (2017)
This was it
This was the moment I first felt the greatness of The Expanse. I'm in tears and without any words that can express my feelings. It's my second run on the expanse but the first time I didn't get this far. I'm glad I did now. To all out there reading this, it's worth it. This is an amazing show, a beautiful show that somehow is able to display both the good and the bad in people in a wonderful manner. My man Miller exquisitely played this episode and the whole plot was marvelous. Can't wait to see what comes next, but I've grown really fond of some characters and I hope they stick around. I also hope to see more of Miller in the future, which doesn't seem to be a stretch.
Lars and the Real Girl (2007)
Unbelievably touching
I just can't believe this was such a touching story. Simple and complex at the same time. A movie about family, community and love in all it's aspects.
Almost twenty years after it's release I got to see it, and I'm glad, because I'd probably wouldn't understand it back then.
I'm also amazed by how Ryan Gosling played the role, I've never specifically thought of him as a versatile actor.
Bianca was a real girl and anyone who thinks otherwise need to let themselves grow and believe in kindness. Hopefully I'll have the same smile on my face the next time I watch it and the same good feeling after it ends.
Ted Lasso: (I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea (2023)
Like a breath of fresh air
It seems the stage is prepared for Richmond to take it home this season. Apart from the story that makes me root for an imaginary football team, this show does a hell of a job to make the viewers emphasize with all the characters. It's just so damn well written. I was hoping to see Trent Crimm (Ex Independent) again and I'm glad to see his charming personality back on the screen. I feel we have a lot more to see in this season. Ted Lasso actually deserves it's Emmy's as it delivers more than a show, it delivers an experience. Nice breath of fresh air from all the superhero and psychopaths related shows.
American Gods (2017)
What was even that?
Wow... I'm never going to forgive myself for restarting this series. Incredibly how I got hooked up in the first season when it premiered then forget all about it until 2023 when I stumbled upon it on amazon prime. I said that I could give it another go since 5 years have passed and rewarch the first season to have continuity. How naive I was that it was worth it. Bad, Bad, Bad! No beggining and no end, no narrative, plots being abandoned and the never ending clash between the old gods and new gods that never happened. Peter Stormare threatens to swing his killer axe for 3 seasons but he never does, Ostara vanishes as if she never was part of the show. Not to speak about the wokeness levels hitting the clouds. I'm actually ashamed to even associate myself with this nonsense. Do yourself a favor and don't waste time on this nonsensical so called show.
Black Adam (2022)
There are things you don't play around with
No, really, how dare you smear one of the most iconic scenes and soundtracks of all times with this submediocre barely even to be called a movie.
30 minutes into the movie and the producers just decide why not should they include a reference to one of the greatest movies ever made. The words I want to use would be censored here, but this is blasphemy level disrespect.
Apart from that, there is no substance to the movie, it's very predictable and well exactly what is expected from a Dwayne Jhonson movie to be.
Since there was no expectation I cannot say I was let down, but I still wish I would have spent those two hours differently.
Peacemaker (2022)
Unexpectedly good
I was very reticent when I started watching it, due to John Cena being the lead of a TV show, but since I dig James Gunn's style i gave it a shot. I was hooked from the first episode and boy was I wrong about John Cena's acting skills. He completely nailed the role.
I can say that basically all the cast had a good mix and they delivered a lot of funny, emotional, overall nice moments. Freddie Stroma's character (Vigilante) is very predictable but still funny, but my personal favourite is the tough beauty Jennifer Holland.
I hope we see more of Robert Patrick as the ghost dad - he was a bad dad in real life but probably he'll come around now that he is a ghost.
Congratulations to the production team and to the actors for delivering such a good show.
Rick and Morty: Bethic Twinstinct (2022)
A C137 episode
Most of viewers look for gun shooting laser blasting star wars whatever in rick and morty. All the infinite ricks, some are cooler than rick but no one is cooler than rick because he is the rickest rick just by being himself. This episode is the rickest rick, this is what's all about. Few other episodes/shows can say so much with so little. Seasons 4 and 5 felt like they were forced, had no essence and there was little hope for season 6. The first two episodes in season 6 were more than expected, but this 3rd one encapsulated the show's quintessence like very few others. Great job from the creators.
Update:
Rewatching this after restarting the entire series still has the same effect. Made me laugh as hell and I stand by the first review. It is one of the best episodes for me and I'm glad I saw it the same the second time.
The Boys: Herogasm (2022)
This is it! What we have been waiting for
This is what I've been waiting for and hoping to get from "The Boys". That episode that defines what it's all about. Great job from the producers, writers, effects and of course the actors. Anthony Starr is unbelievably great - I really hope he gets at least an award for his performance - but each and every actor own their character. Congrats to the entire team of the show!
Army of the Dead (2021)
Now that was stupid
I should stop having any expectations from Zack Snyder and enjoy the only good movie that came out of his career: "Watchmen"
I Care a Lot (2020)
Incredibly wrong
I don't even know where to start. It has been a continous pain to see the scenes in this movie. It seemed to me that the director wanted to be seen as a pure, woke american. The system simply cannot be that shallow, there should be several tests done by several doctors before a decision like that and no contact to the outside world? If I'd be in the US I'd never go to the doctors. The best lawyer is hopeless. And ultimately you cannot mock the idea of the russian mafia the way this director did. I'm mad because the lead actors have a lot of potential and I'm frustrated they agreed to a movie so poorly written.
