The Dark Tower (2017)
Breathtaking, super-catchy and brilliant production!
This was such an amazing fantasy/action movie that I'm incredibly surprised by the low rating it has received. I enjoyed it so much that I wish there was more of this movie!
You can absolutely connect with the characters, their skills and abilities are really fitting into their roles. I think the script is very original and interesting though it has some similarities with some other dark fantasy productions. It was directed and executed in such a good way as well that I did not have a single moment where I felt bored or distracted (and I have ADHD) or did I ever feel cringed watching this movie.
I especially love the concepts of shine, gunslingers and seers in this movie. The skills of the gunslinger was super cool to watch and their repeated motto was also somehow very impressive for me every time it was repeated.
Overall, it's a much better production than most of those marvel movies etc. In my opinion and I recommend it to everyone who likes sci-fi or fantasy shows with some action.
Outlaw King (2018)
Awful movie!
I have so many regrets starting this movie. It is based on violent and disgusting scenes and not really on historical relationships and discussions and such. Almost entire movie is consisting of very violent war scenes, and when it's not war scenes it's absolutely another sudden attack on somebody or some part of someone's body is chopped off and viewed.
The sound level in the movie changes drastically and suddenly all the time. It's very hard to arrange the sound and there is also a lot of screaming throughout most part of the film. I really did not enjoy this and I do not recommended to anyone.
My Life with the Walter Boys (2023)
The LEAST talented young actress ever ruined the show!
Okay, in contrast to the good adult actors in the show, the teenagers that were chosen to play the roles of Jackie and Cole are just plain TERRIBLE! Jackie does not even have any mimics at all, she cannot use any gestures on her face, she's the least talented and worst actress I have ever seen! I cannot even call her an actress. How could they choose the cast like this? It seems like Cole was only chosen because of his mysterious gaze as well.
The story is cliche but with all the other good actors it could have turned into something much much better without this girl with her stroked face in every single occassion ruining the entire authenticity of the scenes. She just empty stares at other actors' faces without a blink and shows literally no reaction on her face to ANYTHING, and I repeat, to ANYTHING said or happened to her. The most you can see is her lips painfully trying to move a little, it is literally PAINFUL to watch. Why is she even staring at people like a damn psychopath all the time instead of giving normal reactions??? How does the director feel okay with this? It's creepy and the least natural acting I have ever seen. They talk about her 3 family members dying and she has no emotions on her face.
I won't even comment on other aspects of the show because this acting makes it very painful to try and watch it. Please stop ruining productions with potential to make someone particular famous.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
It's an absolute kids show!
This is literally a kid's show, I don't understand the adults watching it and giving it high scores. The whole concept is so ridiculous and there is nothing interesting going on during the entire 2 seasons of the show rather than some good old chase and run.
It's not sci-fi, or an action genre either. It is simply a child's show. The characters have almost no personality either. There's a shallow villain, there is some very vague research conducted by the so called scientist, there are very very different from each other type of mutated kids. I felt literally zero connection with anyone in this show because they all seem very superficial and vague. It's not even catchy, just some background noise.
Not recommended.
#Realityhigh (2017)
It's an absolutely enjoyable movie that does not deserve these cruel reviews!
For the ones expecting so much more than a high school drama, this movie is not it. It is however, is very well done for its own genre. None of the acting is cringe, and I could connect with the main characters. The movie is actually quite fun, I personally didn't know how the time passed by watching it and I have adhd and usually get quite bored and distracted when watching movies. So what I mean is, it's a really enjoyable one. I loved the main character, the love story and the whole show. It is not that predictable, it could have been one of those shows where the main character is to eventually fall in love with her bestfriend mambo jambo, but it's not. I like to see two black teens together, and also like to see people with whom they've liked from the beginning rather than their long term bestfriends.
For the ones calling this movie awful, what is your big problem with this movie exactly? I don't think such a nice high school drama would get this low rating or would receive such bad reviews if the main characters were white.
All in all, it's really a lovely movie if you like this genre. Ignore the extremely negative reviews, as I believe them to have other reasons than the quality of the movie.
Dare Me (2019)
I want the second season badly!
The characters are awesome, acting is really good, the actors are all chosen well for their roles. It starts as a regular teen drama and grows into something much deeper and mysterious, the show then turns into more of a crime thriller. I really liked this show mainly because of the character depth of the main characters. They're well thought and quite real.
The first season ended with such mystery and made me look forward to the second one, only to find out that the show was cancelled after the first season. There is hardly ever such good quality teen drama shows, why would it be cancelled after such effort is put into the character development in this show? The script is also as good as a Harlan Coben novel. It's so disappointing and sad, there is unresolved mystery as well and I really want a second season. Please make a second season before all the actors get too old, geez!
Bridgerton (2020)
Wonderful 2nd season that compensated for the first!
Though I do enjoy a love story, I did not find the first season so very interesting and it felt rather forced to go through with it. The second season, however, was such a delight that I could watch it again and again. The storyline, the character developments and the acting of the actors and actresses are much better, and so is the love in the second season. If one gives a chance to this series, one must see both seasons before making their judgement, or perhaps only the second one if the first one does not entertain, and probably see Queen Charlotte first which I might have liked the most among all. It would also make you understand the history and the qualities of the society presented in the series much better to first have seen Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton.
Besides the wonderful love stories and sex scenes, I also love the elegant way they use English and the dresses, the decorations and all of the small details in the show. It's lovely that they display both white and black people perfectly blended into the society in the shows. It's such a great entertainment.
Royalteen (2022)
Very successful teen drama that should be enjoyable for all ages
This is a very good movie that deserves a much higher score. I personally love Danish movies and also love teen movies that take me back to my teenage years spent in Europe. With that being said which might be my only bs in reviewing this movie, I have to say I really liked it, even as an adult.
While the movie starts off as a typical teenage drama with the new girl moving into town and having social life challenges, as the movie goes on it gets deeper into the characters, especially the past and the challenges of the main characters. The movie shows how it might be like to date a royal in a fun way while also showing some real-life problems the characters face, sometimes carried on from their past, rather than just teenage school drama.
I found the actors lovely and the news quite surprising. Surprising but not in a bad way. I think the reactions and the decisions of the characters shown in the movie regarding the news were quite realistic. I loved the ending very much! Overall I think it's a very interesting romance movie with very beautiful actors all over the place. Love the language too.
Me Before You (2016)
Wonderful realistic romance. Worth watching again and again!
It's different than most of the romantic movies that you would see nowadays with its considerably more realistic approach and yet it successfully demonstrates the feelings of two young lovers, it shows how pure love can be and it also makes the feelings of someone who gets a disability after living life in a healthy body very understandable for the audience.
The script is written very well and the movie offers strong character development for the main characters with both main characters having unique, lovable qualities and also strong personalities in their own ways. It makes it much more interesting than a basic romance movie in which the focus would usually rather be on the initial chemical attraction than actual love being built up between people. In this movie, you get to know the characters very well, you get to connect with them, and you get to watch their love develop. The actors have just done an amazing job and the entire movie is very beautiful, I would not change a thing in this production.
It's very real in many ways and I believe it's one of the best romance movies that has ever been made. Highly recommended for everyone!
Echoes (2022)
Amazing show, deserves more than 8 for sure!
I'm very surprised to see the IMDB rating of this show which is super low considering how good it is. The rating should be ignored because I believe it has other reasons rather than the quality of this series. It's a very good show, I wish there was more to come.
What makes it great is that the main actress is super good in both her "roles" and it's such an interesting story worked on. The mystery is amazing at every step of the story and I was so curious from the first episode on that I couldn't stop watching or thinking about it until I finished it. If you like mystery and drama, this one should be seen.
I highly recommend it!
The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
Nothing better than meaningful sci-fi with gorgeous Matt Damon in it!
I have not read the book but it apparently has had the best idea for a sci-fi movie that I have ever come across. I could not be more positively surprised! Matt Damon always works wonders with his acting but this movie is not only good because of his acting but also the storyline being written so creatively and the idea being executed so wonderfully. It exceeded my expectations in terms of the action/adventure side of it and the meaning it carries.
There is not a single scene that is boring in this movie. The actors, the storyline, the visuals, everything is wonderful. The love shared between the characters feel so real as it should be, and the ending shakes your core and makes you question your life. A sci-fi could not be more meaningful than this. It deserves a much better rating than all those nonsense shows. Perhaps there are not enough people to see the message this movie is giving clearly and how important it is.
Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
A very valuable drama in today's world, lessons to be made for everyone
Amazing acting from Mila Kunis and a very touching subject that has been treated carefully in this production. It has the power to change the perception of people on sexual abuse and the use of alcohol. It shows the effect of societal pressure that we all experience daily, starting from very early ages, on a woman's life and decisions. It shows the struggle one goes through between wanting to build a peaceful, stable life and wanting to bring justice to the ones that have hurted you, that have violated your rights at the expense of ruining your reputation. This struggle, is unfortunately very real for most of us living in societies where we are usually only supported when acted in expected ways and when talked about pleasant subjects rather than pointing out the real problems of society. It is not only women that experience this pressure but it must have been the same for a lot of men as well.
These are the kind of productions we need to change today's society for the better. Well done to everyone, your service is appreciated.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Boring production with cringe acting
The storyline just does not add up, it is hard to follow it and to stay interested. The acting of almost everyone in the entire series feels so cringe to watch that it makes it even more difficult to follow.
The visual effects are good but I wish they have used them for a better production. The character development is also not satisfying, you find yourself in the middle of events without getting to know or having the chance to empathize with any of the characters.
As much as I wanted to, I just couldn't continue watching this. It really does not deserve a good score in my opinion. Apparently I have to write it again that I didn't like the production so that I fill in the word limit! So here it is: Not suggested.
The Old Guard (2020)
THE ABSOLUTE BEST ACTION MOVIE EVER!!
I have never seen a better action movie in my entire life, and believe me I've seen a lot. The main problem with action movies has always been the lack of meaning for me, and this movie feeds your desire for that. The story is the best that has been thought to this day and I cannot believe this movie is not super popular nor rated super high yet! I would watch this a hundred times over any overrated marvel production. Besides the script being written amazingly, there is not a single boring scene in the entire movie. The actors have done a great job that I even enjoyed the violent scenes that I normally do not like so much. I loved every second of this movie!
Action has never been more meaningful or satisfying for me to watch. Anyone with a love for action movies and sci-fi/fantasy aspects should absolutely see this movie. If you are only in for the violence and meaningless shootings and jumpings over rooftops, then it might not be for you though.
I wish it with all my heart that more of this would come!
Chaos Walking (2021)
Brilliant sci-fi movie with original ideas!
Ignore all the negative reviews because it's a really good movie. I delayed watching it because of the reviews and I regret it, now that I've seen it I hope for a second one! Or even a series!
The script is original, the acting and the visual effects are great. The storyline is good, the action part is not overdone, overall a very good production in my opinion. Tom Holland does a good job and so do the rest. If some scenes have made the audience sad, well, that means they have done a good job, no? It's not good enough of an excuse to rate such a good movie low, that you were upset with one of the events, cmon grow up y'all!
I'm only sad that the movie has passed by so quickly, I would have liked to watch it for much longer!
Good Witch (2015)
Enjoyable town spirit with a bit of cringe
I enjoyed the first three seasons of this show very much, everything felt quite real and I loved the spirit of a small town with the same kind of vibe they had in Gilmore Girls. It also reminds you of Gilmore Girls as the series has a single mom with a teenage daughter on focus. The other characters are also very lovable.
There are good advices given in the show that applies to real life situations and some episodes also had medical cases or some mysteries to be solved which brought some action to the show. It kept it interesting to watch. It becomes, however, overly and unnecessarily romantic with constant bouquet purchases and dates and proposals in the fourth season and I have been honestly forcing myself to keep watching, at this point it does not feel like I enjoy it much anymore.
Romance is not everything in life to be focused on this much, and it's really cringy that somehow everything always works perfectly for Cassie, the main character of the show, everything always develops so fast and she faces no communication difficulties or whatsoever in any of her relationships. I don't think it's realistic for someone to never experience any communication difficulties nor make any mistakes in life and it makes the show unbearable to me that Cassie is presented as this perfect human being in the show with no mistakes and with perfect communication with absolutely, but absolutely everyone including the people she doesn't know at all. You cannot have a great communication with everyone, we live in the real world. She also seems to like absolutely everyone. I find it very difficult to emphatize and connect with the character as it feels too fictional than real this way. I hope it would become a little more realistic in the following episodes/seasons.
If you crave romance this show would definitely feed your desire after a while, that's for sure!
P. S. I really don't like all that smirking Cassie does with the lips she cannot even use to properly smile due to the overly done esthetic procedures. It's not authentic. The character is supposed to be so authentic and natural, using the powers of the nature and all, and yet the actress's face is full of botox and lip plumping. Confusing.
Extinction (2018)
Great production for sci-fi and disaster movie fans!
A super flowing action movie with a good, interesting script and good quality of effects.
If you like both sci-fi and disaster/apocalyptic movies like I do, since this movie is both and also has very flowing action scenes that would keep you hooked, I'm sure you would like it. If you enjoy plot twists, then you'd like it even more! I held my breath through the entire movie and was surprised to realize it was over. I think it is a really good film and it left me wishing for more! They should definitely make a series :)
On a side note, it is impossible for me to understand why people complain about a couple of children's whining in the war in a movie with such good written script and great acting! What's the matter with you people, is that something you consider negative really? Have you been in contact with any children in your life or do you remember how it was to be a child at all? The emphasis was on children's vulnerability 'on purpose' in the movie. I don't want to say more to not give any spoilers but it shouldn't be hard to understand for someone who has seen the movie. It seems like people try to find every excuse to make negative comments about netflix productions these days to me.
Please do not care about the negative reviews on this one as they are really nonsense. It's a good action movie you can enjoy, it does not have real violence scenes and could be watched with family too in my opinion.
Advantageous (2015)
The most heart-breaking, the saddest film I've ever seen
Honestly, in my entire life I have never seen another film that is completely based on the feelings of helplessness and sadness. It was the saddest show I've ever seen. It is not much of a sci-fi to me when most of the movie is based on conversations between people and psychological matters. The mother character is very loving, okay that's nice, but the rest? Why is it so depressing and all the other characters are the most cruel ever?
When it comes to sci-fi you don't really get to see much rather than its being mentioned that the world is becoming more and more mechanic and less human oriented, job markets hiring AI rather than humans. It's all conversations, sad conversations. In the last part of the movie there is this supposedly new scientific discovery that allows a new type of surgical operation, you get to see about that and that's it.
Overall, there are no new scientific / creative ideas in this production in my opinion. Everything is used to make the audience sad in the movie. It's a very depressing movie. I'm not a fan.
P. S. Technology is not all bad!
A Perfect Pairing (2022)
As much as I wanted to like this film, the acting makes it impossible
Unfortunately the acting in this movie gives me cringe. There is nothing very special or specific about the story. It's okay to watch but don't expect to enjoy it very much. I can't say I liked it.
The Half of It (2020)
Not really interesting or enjoyable to me
I really did not like this movie. I watch these type of movies, dramas all the time but I could not enjoy this one much. The scenes were too long and I just kept zoning out, it did not interest me at all and I could not even finish the movie. Not suggested.
Stepmom (1998)
It is a WONDERFUL movie showing the power of love and unity!
An absolutely incredibly meaningful movie, I could not hold back my tears by the end of it. Julia Roberts shows an amazing performance as always. One of the most touching films I've ever seen. Everyone must see it!
It's hard to tell why soooo many people rate movies and shows with lots of violence and hate higher than such amazing, meaningful productions mirroring daily lives. It must be the childhood traumas keeping them all in the survival mood, making them subconciously seek chaos and violence. I cannot find another explanation for why the rating of this movie is below 7 while it deserves at least a 9, while all the ones with lots of violence have it much higher.
Uncoupled (2022)
Such an amazing series! Warning: Make sure you have the time for bingwatching before you start.
I love rom-coms and this was the first series I have seen with gay main characters ever. And my thoughts on it now is: Why the hell are there not more of romantic comedies/dramas focusing on gay people?! Everyone should see how gay people live their lives and experience relationships, which is EXACTLY THE SAME WAY as the heterosexuals do!!
Besides the amazing subject choice and the super successful acting of Neil Patrick Harris (as always), this is a very good quality production with a good story and character building, a very easy flow that makes you want to keep watching forever, good acting from all actors & actresses and great musics. The series focuses on good friendships, maturity in relationships, and the dating life for those that do not belong to the typical 'young heterosexuals' group that's usually focused on in movies and series. Everything feels very real including the characters' struggles in the series. There were also so many histerically funny scenes that I cracked up many times and I specifically loved the gay love-making scenes. I actually loved this series so very much that I binged watched it in a day!!
There should absolutely be more of this coming asap! I can't even wait. Super good series y'all, congratulations to everyone that put effort!
Life or Something Like It (2002)
A great, meaningful movie to watch!
I don't understand the rating of this movie. It is very meaningful and it was a very nice watch. Beautiful people playing, a great lesson to be made out of it, and it's definitely very enjoyable to watch!
Overall this movie deserves at least a 9, even in 2022!!
Ad Astra (2019)
Could not watch it, even for Brad Pitt
Save yourself some time and just not try this movie at all.
It seems the movie got some high ratings due to the societal crush on Brad Pitt and nothing else.. I just could not watch it. It was probably most boring, the least flowing film I have ever laid eyes on. I rarely turn off a movie but I lost interest completely and did not watch more than half of it. Sorry Brad, but it is too boring even with you in it.
The Healer (2016)
Lovely movie but I wanted to see more magic
An okay movie to watch for unwinding after a long day. When the movie is about magical gifts and all though, you want to see more of that magic rather than mostly watching long scenes with cringe acting, I'm sorry. It could be a better movie with better acting & directing.
Giving the 7 for mainly Oliver Jackson, as he was quite lovely and real in his role. I would not say the same for the Camilla Luddington and Kaitlyn Bernard's performance though. Their acting felt quite fake to me and decreased the quality of the movie unfortunately.
It is overall a nice subject and good time spent watching this movie. I hope there would be more productions of similar kind, hopefully with better quality.
