Hurricane Man (2019)
Hater's gonna hate
I originally didn't plan to write a review, but as a meteorology major, I felt the need to debunk the bs in some of the other reviews.
Horodner claimed that Josh lied about "Intercepted more landfalling hurrianes than anyone in the field". "The true veterans have been at this work for decades longer than the manufacturrd "expert" created for this TV story."
Josh has intercepted the eyewall of 55 tropical cyclones, no one in the field is anywhere near that number. Jim Cantore covered more Hurricanes than Josh, but he did not intercept the core of most of them.
Horodner's claim that Josh is an manufactured expert is completely false. Josh has published many peer reviewed papers regarding tropical cyclones in the past, including some which caused the National Hurricane Center to readjust Hurricane landfall intensities.
In the review by gojumpinindustries, he claimed that "There is no data that he and his camera crew could collect from a storm that a fixed permanent storm data collector couldn't already provide"
Those claims are completely false. Most tropical cyclones around the world have their intensity estimated with Satellite Dvorak technique. Josh's surface pressure gradient data not only help weather agencies reevaluate hurricane intensities, it also reveals mesoscale vortexes within the eyewall.
Wu Kong (2017)
Silly film took a surprising emotional turn
The movie was very entertaining. The action scenes were pretty well done with some interesting visual display of the character's power.
Although, the plot was silly and forced at times, the last 1/3 of the movie really made up for it. In addition, the movie did well in helping viewers connect with the characters.
As a relatively unemotional person, the death of certain characters hit me much harder emotionally than expected. Maybe it is just me, but I felt like if I was in the movie. The bitter feelings after watching the film continued to linger with me for days.
I would have gave this movie a 9/10, but I am giving it a 10/10 because I do not think it deserves the rating it currently has.
The Imitation Game (2014)
Best film of 2015!
What can I say? It is just awesome & great. A story pushed to its potential. The actors did a great job. The scripts were well written. The movie was very accurate. It portrait WW2 really well.
The movie told the story of Alan Turing really well. The movie did a great job on promoting the inspiration of Alan Turing. Very heart touching, meaningful, and inspiring film. After watching the movie, I was in thought for a while.
Recommend all of you to watch it! You'll especially like this movie more if you are the type of person who always have ideas; and does not fit in. You will feel a great connection when watching the movie, so do I?
I was not surprised that this won a Oscar award. This movie truly deserved it!
Gods of Egypt (2016)
Good potential, bad cast
I personally thought the movie was pretty good and has a lot of potential. It contains wild & thrilling actions that keeps audiences excited. It also has a pretty good ending and story structure.
What led to so many critics? There are several reasons to that. 1. It is silly. Not all actors did a great job on their role. Many characters don't seem to be emotionally affected during intense scenes. For example, at a scene were the main character's girl friend died. He seemed sad at first, and seemed to fully recover 30 seconds later... It is just too dramatic for an action movie like this. There were some scenes, where they are trying to be funny; however, it backfires by making it more silly
2. Bad scripts. The wording and the things said in this movie are weird. It just seems weird that in Egypt there is a silly man talking with British accent. The way they talk are too modern. It shows no Egypt culture at all. For example, in one scene; they used the term "pirates" & "ions". Those things didn't even exist back then. There are many more modern term used such as lettuce. It seems to that the characters are 21st century people with costumes on.
3. Bad character/costume choosing. Many actors did not fit well in the movie. Almost 90% of the gods in this movie are white people. No racism here! But they are suppose to be Egyptians; NOT Americans/British! The costume was also do not fit. Set, the fire god was dressed up like a Spartan in 300. Beck's girl friend was dressed up in a typical modern 21 century dress. The sun god Ra, was dressed up like a Pope. The god of knowledge was dressed in a Chinese style silk clothing. Silk didn't even exist back then! That just makes the movie even more silly!
4. Plot with some flaws. There were some scenes or mircales that just happened without any previous explanations.
5. Bad Special Effects. The special effect wasn't as bad as the movie "Kingsmen", but it isn't close to realistic. The special effects did show the 3D background. However, the lighting just seems weird and unreal. To me, it almost seemed like the stones were reflecting light.
The only actor that did a great job was Gerard Butler. He was like the only serious character. I already expected that, since he did a great job on the movie 300 too. This film had a lot of potential, but was ruined by bad casting. Don't blame the director, he did a great job. If it wasn't for the bad casting, I thought it would have earned at least an 8/10 on IMDb.
