Cowboy Bebop (2021)
It's really an 8
If, like me, you've never seen the anime, then the show is entertaining and enjoyable. I've given it a 10 to try and raise the average due to the bashings from some incredibly weird people but it is a solid 8 for me.
A lot of reviews are comparing to a cartoon they watched years ago and need to really get over it as this clearly isn't a show that's as low as what they've rated it and should look at things objectively.
ThunderCats Roar (2020)
Apparently the createor was a Thundercats fan
I'm sure if this wasn't Thundercats and some complete standalone cartoon, it may have fared better.
Fact is, they got this completely wrong. There was a huge uproar about it when they released conceptual designs of this trash and makes nonsense that they carried on development.
Majority of people who were gonna watch this were always going to be legacy Thundercats fans.
Apparently the show creator was a Thundercats fan. No fan would make this tripe
Awful show, save yourself the bother. I gave it 2 episodes and that was too many.
Hubie Halloween (2020)
Pretty terrible, had to turn it off
It's very rare that I turn off a movie before finishing it, and I've sat through some terrible movie before. I had to turn this off at the hour mark as I just couldn't take it anymore.
I'm sure this movie would have been ok or remotely funny in say the 90s or even the early 00s at a stretch. Unfortunately for Adam Sandler, it's now 2020 and comedy has evolved.
To overplay a character with mental issues who gets bullied by everyone is bad and it's just not funny. If there isn't anything in a comedy to make you laugh, then at least some story would be good right? Well guess what? You don't get a story either, it's just nonsensical.
Lastly, What's with the voice and silly mouth movements Adam? Should have left that behind with Waterboy as a one time only performance.
I'm sure there are some out there that will enjoy this, just wasn't for me at all.
F.R.E.D.I. (2018)
One for the kids I guess
This is an extremely low budget sci-fi movie so I understand why the effects are like someone's school project. That actually may be insulting some schools as it's probably worse than school projects.
What really got me was how terrible the acting was from pretty much every actor in this. Looking at their profiles, they've all acted quite a bit before but they were totally wooden and unbelievable for the majority of the film. Maybe it was just poor direction or a poor script that they couldn't work with... or maybe because of the budget they shot the whole thing in a week or something. Whatever it was, it's very noticeable especially from the main characters friends.
The story is full of plot holes, not entirely sure how this script was chosen by anyone to be made.
However, my daughter really enjoyed it. She's 6. If you're older than that and thought this was great, then I have concerns for you.
The Good Place (2016)
A real fun to watch show that is going downhill rapidly
This is one of those short and sweet shows which is very easy to watch, full of fun, laughs and a real feel good show.
I like the reasoning behind why they are in the "bad place" and the actors and acting in this is superb. Kristen Bell absolutely nails it and I love Manny Jacinto's character.
The first season of this show was brilliant. I would have given it a 9. The twist at the end I didn't see coming either so that was awesome!
Unfortunately, since the twist - the show seems to be a really strange path that has changed the dynamic of the show.
It's no longer a show about how actions can cause repercussions but a show about how 4 undeserving people are trying to get to the real "Good Place". I hope it finally gets somewhere where the dynamic isn't changing every episode and hope we haven't seen the last of Ted Danson!
Black Lightning (2018)
It's bad. Very bad.
Firstly I'd like to question what the critics over at another review site were smoking to give this 100%.
The acting is very poor. The daughters and his ex wife in particular are overacting so much that it's cringe worthy. I know it's only one episode in but the characters have no depth or personality at all so far (including Mr Black Lightning himself). James Remar, who is usually a fantastic actor, even looked bad in this. Maybe it's the direction or maybe it's the writing.
The fighting scenes... maybe they need to use some camera trickery to speed things up because this dude has the worlds slowest kick that manages to make a person fly about 4 miles back. I know the law of physics do not apply to the super hero genre but come on! This was outright ridiculous!
As for the story... it's terrible writing. A man who's not been black lightning for several years suddenly resurfaces and shows his true face to the villains and the police yet nobody recognises him despite him being a well known member of the community. Did the police car dash cam not catch his face or am I expecting too much realism from a show?
Two stars as I ended up playing games on my phone half way through and stopped paying attention.
