Into the Night (2020)
Season 1 was great, 2 is like a different show
This show started off incredibly and ended the first season on the same note. The idea was intruging and unexplored, the threat and need to constantly move and find resources was enjoyable. And trying to survive in a hostile world. And just as the made it to the bunker, the main character made a chocie which would undoubetly affect her standing as they went inside.
Season two started and they seem to spend all their time in the bunker. It's basically just about sqabbling over politics with flashbacks showing how bad all the characters are. Nothing really happened this season and it really dropped the ball.

Connects to you on an emotional level
This show is well worth watching, after the end of the first episode you'll be hooked.
Incredibly inspiring and also heart felt. I sat down with my girlfriend expecting to watch some over the top girl k-drama. However instead I'm trying to hold in my tears.
It follows the story of two sisters, one who sided with their mother and one which sided with their father. The mother is sick of just getting by and marries some wealthy guy and chages her name. The other gets a big break and has an unforunate end. The story switches between their childhoods which shaped them and the now - which increasingly gets shaped by what's revealed in the past.
I'm not sure I did this show justice, however it's deinitely special.

Please don't review if you haven't watched everything
I'd really give it an 8/10, unfortunately all the low reviews are from users who have not made it past three episodes. It takes around episode 5-6 before you start seeing the grander scope of the show.
It's become a gripping first season for a rather promising series. This series brings depth, emotion as well as politics back to Star Wars. Perhaps in a way which has not been done before.
There is a good chance season 2 will be better than 1 and really make use of the foundations. Basically the whole point of this season was the struggle to become a rebel.
I quite enjoy the rogue and stealth elements of this show.
The Peripheral (2022)
The writing is off
I do love sci-fi's, but there's something not quite right with the writing in this show. I'm finding everything extremely cliche, poorly executed and quite unbelievable.
The girl is a better gamer then her brother, both in VR and real life and gets trashed. But her brother is a top notch military expert with military grade hardware. It's really quite hard to believe as she's working at a 3d printer store.
The technology in 2032 is a mixed bag. Apparently VR requires using a phone as a controller. Besides this, the tech is really too advanced for the timeframe.
2099 seems to want to bring people from back then to the future. When they could really do everything themselves.
They use too much pointless tech which cheapens the show.
I'm trying to not issue any spoilers, hence why it's bite sized.
Is it worth a watch? Maybe, but there's so many better sci-fi's.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)
Overrated kiddie show like Doctor Who & Strangers Things
I've just finished the show.
It begins rather fast, good for people with short attention spans. It's extremely flashy but unfortunately has very little substance and is arguably poorly written.
There's lots of pointless nudity and sex scenes. Which is strange considering it's written like a childrens cartoon.
I also feel the relationship with the main character and the main nudist is extremely rushed. He went from being a total rookie to being extremely jacked and able to do anything rather quickly. And then when the show came to a close, they wrapped it up with him giving the ultimate sacrifice.
It's a shame people think this is a good series or even a good anime for that matter. Maybe I'm just too mature for this show. It's a little bit like Dragonball Evolution, where you get the sense they're taking pieces but have never really dived into the source material.
A League of Their Own (2022)
Giving it a 7 is quite generous
Subject Breakdown
5% Drama
7% Baseball
18% Racism
25% Sexism
45% Lesbian/Gay
I've just finished the show. This series is about an all lesbian baseball team, which faces sexism in a male dominated era while playing a male dominated sport. There is a character which wants to play - despite her family feeling split on her decision, however she faces racism and sexism. Inbetween brief moments of sport there is either two females sharing a love scene or one of the players slowly transitioning into a man. There isn't a whole heap of drama or story. Everything resolves around everyone being lesbian in a society which apparently shuns it. I can't help but feel the story primarily revolves around how hard it is being a lesbian, black or a woman - and not baseball or the womans league.
I feel like they really dropped the ball on this one, there's just little to like and nothing particularly memorable. It's quite unlikely much of this is based on a true story. I'm not even sure whether I enjoyed it. They really had something, but they didn't do anything worthwhile with what they had.
Paper Girls (2022)
Criminally underrated Terminator + S Things + Gundam
This was not what I'm expecting at all. Yes the CGI could be better and it's a little aimed at teens at times. But it's got the threat and time travel of Terminator, the 80's people and group pact like Stranger Things, gigantic mecchas like Gundam. Honestly this show is really quite enjoyable. It sure beats the same old routine of most tv shows. I find it actually a bit creepy, unlike Stranger Things. There's something eery about pink clouds. This show doesn't contain some creature trying to destroy anyone. It's much more creative and contains something as bad as death. The actors play their characters well.
Stranger Things (2016)
Yikes
Season 4 will be my last season. It's a show too adult for kids, but too childish for adults. The writing & story is very basic. I'm a big fan of sci-fi, but I find the elements in this show far beyond believable, no matter how you look at it.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Stop watching tv shows on your phone, this is stunning so far.
I've watched the two episodes so far. I'm glad they started with a recap which really set the stage. I'm excited for it all to cone together. The sets and nostalgia is strong with this one. I'm not sure why some are giving 5 and below stars. It doesn't seem warranted for such an enjoyable TV show. Watch it on a good tv and sound system and stop watching so much TikTok.
Aelliseu (2020)
Masterpiece
As a viewer of many well known shows like Breaking Bad, Sci-Fi such as Star Trek/Gate and some of the top notch anime from years passed..
I can say that this show is an absolute masterpiece. It's full of intrigue and suspense. They fantastically incorporate a lot of hilarious encounters between characters which only come about due to the situation they're in.
Each episode is a full hour long and is jam packed with perfectly timed content. The early part of the first episode completely threw me off with how this lovely story would develop.
If you can read subtitles and don't have the attention span of a toddler - you'll enjoy this. I think this show is the next best thing to Back to The Future. With some parallels one could draw.
Sure the CGI could be better and some cinematography taken down a notch. But this didn't impact how much I enjoyed the show.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Immersive universe brought down by terrible writing
Unlike a lot of the early reviewers, I've finished watched the complete first season.
For the skimmers, I cannot recommend this tv series to anyone.
The first few episodes capture your imagination in a post-apocalyptic machines versus humans scenario. Two androids are sent off to an uninhabited world, with the intent to create an atheist civilization. The two main human characters steal another couple's faces, courtesy of a surgical bot. They then realise that the couple has a child, which is the premise of their mission the entire season. The dad goes mad, the androids go mad and some of the worst writing to ever bless the sci-fi world unfolds.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Rating deserves to be higher, perhaps 8 realistically
We all heard about issues plaguing the making of this series, and the scream from Star Trek purists following the trailers.
As someone myself, who's watched every episode of Star Trek, I can solemnly say without hesitation that this series has established relevance in the modern era of TV - without having to denigrate women.
Good points:
-Klingon's are more intimidating than any prior TV series. They also speak in their own language.
-The directing, editing and engagements are quite slick. -It's absent of any cringe prior Star Trek's had.
-The story (despite being a equal), is engaging and delivered in a superb way.
Bad points:
-Early on, they used CGI quite liberally, however
- The ships in space have effects added to them, which make them look more real.
-The captain's accent may come across as if she's wooden and emotionless. -If you don't like reading subtitles, the presence of Klingon's may ruin the immersiveness.
-It's too early to call, I enjoyed the first episode a lot more than I thought. They exceeded my expectations regarding production value, directing and continual story.
What purists/fanboys won't like:
-It's a prequel, we all know how Star Trek Enterprise went down...
-Technology is more slick and beyond that of the original series, considering it's set 10 years earlier. However while they try to keep as many sounds and base designs - They have a point. But you've got to modernize it some way. Technology from the 60's doesn't exactly look futuristic.
-Redesigning of the Klingon's. This has been partially explained in DS9 and we've been told they have a good reason for this. Personally, they look more intimidating, Klingon's in TNG look nothing like the original, - so this is evolutionary.
-No characters thus far - from the other series. In the past, each series has showed someone from another series. -Some slight alterations of history, they've changed some small things in order to fit their new story.
Overall, it's certainly worth watching. There's no nudity or lewd behavior which often plagues our shows these days. The two leads are women, and they're respected like everyone else. There's no money or alcohol. Just how things are meant to be portrayed in the series.
