Marvel is dead
9 May 2022
The post credit scene sum's it up. It was just not worth it. It was so bad that it made Morbius look like a decent movie. Hell this movie makes the ridiculous Fantastic four movie look good. This is just not Marvel material. Some scenes were absurd, pathetic and mostly no fun at all. The most important thing is that for the first time I went out of the cinema after watching a Marvel movie with no enthusiasm at all. Even the music was depressing. The whole thing just didn't work for me.

Passengers (I) (2016)

Gravity, Interstellar, The Martian and another nice space movie
7 January 2017
Gravity, Interstellar, The Martian. These are all great outer space movies made in last couple of years. They were all nominated for Oscars and I wouldn't be surprised if even the newest space theme movie Passengers would receive a nomination for best achievement in visual effects. They are just stunning. But definitely no other nominations would be deserved.

The movies runs for 2 hours but in reality something is happening only in last 30 minutes. Everything else is much more like a space travel documentary. But a really good one. There is not much action or dialogue but it still manages to entertain you and I enjoyed every minute of it. Didn't look at my watch even once.

This movie is much simpler compared to all three already mentioned movies but that's a good thing. It creates different type of emotions. After watching previous movies my mind was broken to pieces (especially after watching Interstellar) and space travel was the last thing I would want to experience. But after watching this movie it all makes sense and I feel like I want to see space one day.

It is not the best space movie but it is still quite decent and it is worth to be watched on big cinema screen rather than home. I am quite surprised that even few hours after I watched it I still think about it. This is not happening often to me.

Even if you don't like musicals you might still like this one.
30 December 2016
First of all I hate musicals. I really do. By my opinion movies should be just about acting. Singing just makes them look ridiculous. But that's my personal opinion and if you share my view than this review might be useful for you.

To be honest the only reason why I went to see this movie is the fact that I have a cinema season ticket. I didn't have any expectations and maybe that's main part of the reason why I really liked it. There is not that much singing and even when actors sing it blends nicely to the plot – it just doesn't look silly. Also the soundtrack is amazing. Basically it's just one melody throughout the whole movie but its very catchy and you will end up humming the tune for the rest of the day.

But back to the movie. It's a love story. It's not original but still quite nice and it has the potential to raise emotions. I enjoyed it and I was really surprised how much entertaining it was. Also the acting is actually very good. Especially the parts where the actor is trying to be an actor. She is very convincing.

This is only third movie of the director but when you take in mind that it was directed by the same person who created Whiplash and 10 Cloverfield Lane than you must know that it will be good as I enjoyed both his previous movies a lot.

So in short. This movie is worth your time. Pure entertainment. But be aware that the ending might surprise you.

Movie is quite original but could've been better
15 December 2016
First of all I have to say that I was really looking forward to see this movie and I had big expectations from it. That's always a bit tricky as mostly you end up disappointed. And that's almost what happened. This movie started in my opinion a bit silly and my first impression was that this will be a disaster. But it did build up nicely and although it is not the best movie I've seen this year it didn't disappointed me in the end.

The story is beyond any doubt original. I loved the fact that beside the main story there are tree side stories which all have their meaning and depth. Everything fits nicely together (maybe even too much) and the final result is a sad but entertaining drama which will likely hit you on a greater emotional level. There's also a surprise twist which I just didn't see coming.

The only downfall are the last two ridiculous scenes which made the movie rather about magic than real issue solving. They were just overblown and shouldn't be in the movie. But again this movie is worth your time. But don't get too excited.

Incredible true story of a tiny needle in a very large haystack
13 December 2016
I've seen 104 movies so far in cinemas this year and I was wondering all year long if I will ever see a movie which will truly deserve a 10-star rating. There were movies like Room, Hacksaw Ridge, Me Before You, Sully or Arrival which are all great and therefore received 8 or 9-stars from me. But today I can safely say that I found my 10-star TOP OF THE YEAR movie.

Lion. An incredible true story of a tiny needle in a very large haystack. So powerful. Deeply moving. It's sad yet uplifting. Not going to tell you the plot but you should definitely find a way to watch this one. There are many strong moments in the movie but for me it was the part when you realize what happened to main characters brother and what impact it must have had in real life on their mothers life. As already said: This is a movie based on real events.

This will definitely be an awards contender. I also have to mention the young Sunny Pawar. You will love him. His acting is phenomenal.

If this story is true its extraordinary...
11 November 2016
I had big expectations from this movie and I have to say that it is really special. I knew that it would be violent as it was directed by Mel Gibson but the slow romantic warm up made me forget all about it. And that's why I think it is brilliant. It will just shock you and blow your mind when you "experience" war through this movie. It's almost insane. I have seen many war movies but this one is far the most realistic one. I also loved the fact that it is not trying to create cheap emotions but it stays real yet manages to be very powerful. It is definitely one of the best movies this year. It also has a very nice clear picture quality which should be definitely rewarded with an Oscar. If nothing else I at least hope Mel Gibson will direct more movies.

Silly, boring, chaotic.
10 September 2016
Well, this movie (not even sure if I can call it a movie) should definitely get few Razzies. It's one of the silliest movies I have ever seen. Don't even bother to watch it. It should only be watched if you want to get the exact idea how NOT to write a script, direct a movie, act in a movie and especially how NOT to cut the scenes and shots together (it just feels like the whole post-production work was missed or at least rushed). It's just absurd. It's so bad that you will probably fell ashamed just watching it. The script is terrible. The acting is distracting. The CGI is far from average. The movie just feels cheap. I still don't understand how this even managed to get to the process of filming.
