Suicide Squad (2016)
Had promise, but quickly fell flat
I was so disappointed with this film.
Honestly the premise intrigued me, and I was hooked as soon as the trailers started dropping, but I couldn't have been more disappointed with the outcome.
EVERYTHING HAPPENED SO FAST. Honestly. It felt like the entire plot of the movie was explained in 5 minutes, and the audience was just supposed to follow on after that. I got lost at different parts throughout the movie, until I finally said "forget it" and just tried to enjoy the movie for the action sequences. Which did a little to help the overall impression of the movie.
Acting was sub par, but the standouts for me were Deadshot and Harley Quinn. But in the end I'd probably give Will Smith the trophy for his portrayal of morally-torn Deadshot.
If all you want out this movie is a average action film, with a great soundtrack, then this is the film for you. But I would advise against anyone who is looking for a movie with a visible plot, or a intriguing villain (the Enchantress just made me weirdly uncomfortable). Also, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is expecting a good portrayal of the Joker. Leto does a horrific job at portraying a multi-faceted and demented character (plus his laugh made me want to rip my hair out).
I would definitely wait until this movie comes out on DVD instead of wasting upwards of 13.50 on a movie that fails to deliver.
Boyhood (2014)
Booooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!
Listen, I'm a film buff, and I've seen some movies that I think are utterly flawless while others would think them dull. Films like There Will Be Blood, 2001, Drive, and No Country For Old Men are some of my favorite films of ALL time. I love movies that are bleak and/or slow burn when they go somewhere or use silence to build tension. So when I say a film is boring, I like to think you can trust me. Nothing happened in this movie. It will not change anyone's life, it will teach you nothing. If you're set on seeing it then all I can say is be prepared for 3 hours of plot-less nothingness, cheesy life lessons, and pretentious inane dialogue that will make you want to inflict physical violence on someone.
I do have to give Linklater some credit for the film's experimental style, but that praise only goes so far. Honestly I'd give this one a 6 or very generous 7 out of ten as it is not a terrible movie, but I'm giving it a one here because this movie is almost as overrated as The Dark Knight.
Space Cop (2016)
Almost As Quotable as Lucas
They may have gone too far in a few places with this project but luckily as a registered sex offender of five years that's exactly how I like it. Now i know some are saying that this was the most disappointing thing since their son but after watching The Hateful Eight I assure you it's not nearly as bad by comparison(jk I liked H8ful 8, just didn't love it). The biggest let down is that they're not making it available on VHS(although I suppose DVD's are almost as ironic nowadays) so now I have nothing to watch in my Lighting Fast VCR Repair jacket except Beverly Hills Cop 2.
So go watch this movie surely playing in a cinema near you but be warned this movie has more hack frauds than I have charges on my rap sheet.
Bionicle: Mask of Light (2003)
10/10 It's Okay
Basically LOTR with Bionicle. The animation is a bit cheap yet oddly charming. The many character's range from annoying to cliché to surprisingly good. As a kid this was my favorite anime. My favorite Toa was the red one because he had those two fire swords he could use as a surfboard. My least favorite Toa was the rock one because who the hell wants power over rocks you already have a Toa of Earth and rocks are apart of the Earth what the hell just fuse the two together. Actually wait after reading the Wiki the rock one is way better than the earth one because all the earth one does is control the soil. What the heck kind of power is that? Hey wait a minute there's also a water Toa and an ice Toa... What the hell Lego ice isn't even an element it's quite literally just water that got too cold.
Anyways give this a watch it taught me many things as a kid like how sand and fire makes glass.
