The Lost City (2022)
failed ripoff of Romancing the Stone.
Counting on star power to pull in the revenue. They delivered, but the writers and director failed.
Actually nodded off for a bit. Gave an extra star for the Brad Pitt sequence. The only original and fun part of an otherwise snoozer.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
1984 period piece complete with 1984 superhero movie cheesyness.
Short and sweet. Original Wonder Woman is in my top 3 favorite comic based movies.
Wonder Woman 1984 is in my bottom 3.
Madam Secretary: Hail to the Chief (2019)
Series final season? Episode 1 my final episode.
Who could have known, however long ago the opening episode was written, that it would so closely resemble our current political situation. I have to imagine the writers felt some sort of glee at the similarities. Unfortunately, "ripped-from-the-headlines" isn't entertainment. It just blends in with the daily news that I'm oh so tired of already.
Last season was excellent, I'll remember the show that way. Farewell Madam President.
Occupation (2018)
A mildly entertaining hot mess.
This movie is like the original Red Dawn, and Independence Day hooked up and had a tragically deformed movie baby. Full of incoherent action, nonsensical characters and idiotic dialog. Not quite bad enough to be cult classic. Not good enough to be a 5.
Still, sometimes it's nice to semi - nap while watching a 4.
Modern Family (2009)
Can no longer take the screeching.
I gave it a good long run. Decent humor, likeable characters, okay stories. BUT, I just can't handle the falsetto hyper accented screech any longer.
Sorry, but she's easily the most annoying voice on television today.
Code Black (2015)
Fast moving, emotion pumping new series. but...
I really like the show as 4 new doctors are thrust into an intense ER setting that is nothing short of chaotic. The dialog is fast and the action is non stop as the veterans both teach, demonstrate, encourage and belittle the newbies. The show made me feel fear, compassion, relief, and an assortment of other emotions. To me the premise and action was excellent.
But, I seldom use the DVR re-wind as much as I did during this show. Line after line was delivered either too quietly, too muffled, or in a mix of chaotic background noise. I really like the show, but it's frustrating to not be able to hear it. I get it, you're portraying a busy scene, but actors don't need to be heard by each other, they need to be heard by the AUDIENCE!
I hope the first show is a sign of episodes to come, but I also hope they clean up the audio.
