Shingeki no Kyojin: Retrospective (2022)
Can someone but Floch remain true to their character? Can anything make sense
Guys c'mon..
Connie --> turned into Levi killing people right and left effortlessly. I guess if you are not a relevant character then you are a lousy soldier
Armin --> Wanted to converse with people initially but he did not even talk to his own comrades and was okay to kill them.
Annie --> Somehow she is a friend again and does not want to fight anymore when all she wanted to do was kill everyone
Magath --> Now a sympathetic figure and now he cares about Eldians when he clearly was condescending towards all Eldians including warriors at the beginning of season 4 (watch his conversations with Zeke and Colt)..
Oh and remember when Levi was the one trusted to cut Eren out of the titan's nape if he goes crazy? And remember all the training they had to cut the titan's nape? Apparently, no training is needed and some random Magath is able to very precisely cut Falco out of an aggressive titan's nape effortlessly.
Also, people avoid guns and attack gun-wielding soldiers with swords like they are playing super Mario and have 10 lives. I mean this has happened before when it was Levi who is the strongest soldier ever but c'mon this is nonsense.
Finally, why is no one showing no emotions towards their fallen comrades? No one cared about Porco's death. Falco cried for like a 10-second scene when he heard about his brother but he does not seem to be disturbed with it at all since then. Remember when in season 1 you could see all the characters' emotions. It seems that life and death don't matter now except for 2 seconds.
Oh and Levi is just okay with Annie being there after she killed his entire squad including his apparent love interest Petra. He did not even say a word about it.
In my eyes, the last few episodes, since after the rumbling are ruining the whole show.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Night of the End (2022)
Cringe!
This may be influenced by the awful episode before this one. It just does not make sense how everyone is meeting together, that Marley left all the titans behind and now that Jean did not react to Annie's return whatsoever despite him knowing she killed Marco!
The only line that was good was when Hange said that genocide is bad regardless but the whole meeting (while each side had good arguments) was set up in a comical way that is good for a children's cartoon but not for something as serious as AoT. It feels like the ending of Game of Thrones for me folks. Let's hope it does not go that bad!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Pride (2022)
Uncharacteristically awful writing
Okay before you get all worked up this show is my all-time favorite of all shows not just anime. Still, I was very disappointed by how poorly written this was. Sorry Isayama.
Just a few points
1- How many coincidences do we get in 1 episode? Levi and Hange show up in front of Magath and Pieck who for some reason were left to die by Marley despite Pieck being a top top asset (same goes for Reiner and Falco how in the world are they leaving all their titans behind?). Also Annie somehow appeared just next to Armin and Armin arrived just in time to stop Connie. How convenient
2- Why does everyone trust Annie again? Last time she absolutely dismantled the scouts. She just shows up and out of a sudden she is one of the gang?
3- Why is none of Eren's friends on his side? I mean what he wants to do is very violent and it makes sense that some would be against him but all of them are willing to take on Eren and said with the rest of the world. Well, if you beat Eren, what do you think the rest of the world would do? They would absolutely crush the Eldians because they would be worried someone would do just the same that Eren is doing right now.
I love this show but this is poor poor writing.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Sneak Attack (2022)
How can this show keep giving us such masterpieces this consistently?
Oh God! What an episode! Very intense, very emotional. I can't describe how great this episode is and how great this show is. I don't think I will ever watch a show this good again.
Just wow!!!
Shingeki no Kyojin: Judgment (2022)
Very good episode, not the best graphics also something else drops it to 9
Well, if Hero and Assault are 10 then this is probably not a 10. It is a very good episode, an excellent one, actually.
The human fight scenes with the guns felt like from an old anime. The blood looked very unrealistic. WIT did a better job than MAPPA in that.
Aside from that, I am so happy that Levi is seemingly alive but the fact that both Levi and Zeke are alive is some serious plot armor.
All in all great episode. Love this show.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Sole Salvation (2021)
Was Levi high?
For some reason my previous review was deleted. I just had to write this again.
Levi had Zeke where he wanted him. The dude is tied and will not be able to transform even if he is fully healed let alone when he is beaten up like that. However, Levi, who was apparently on crack, decides to attach a bomb that activates by motion to him yet he keeps slicing him.
Now, I love Isayama's story but this makes no sense for two reasons:
1- Nobody has enough control on their bodies not to move when being cut this way. Whenever Levi cuts at Zeke, Zeke will move out of pain which essentially means that Levi is committing suicide. No one could miss such a detail in real life. C'mon Isayama what kind of bad writing is this?
2- So Levi was telling Zeke that he will be killed soon by a titan but he should not move so that the spear does not detonate. Now, seriously, if anyone is in Zeke's shoes and you have one of two options either die alone or die and kill the one who killed you at the same time. What would you choose? How on earth would Levi give Zeke the power to decide their fate (yes Levi's as well because he is in close proximity).
I love the story. I am rating this as a 7 because it deserves a 10 for the Zeke's backstory and a big ZERO for the terrible writing of the last scene. I hope Levi is not dead. It would be a shame if the best character of the show is killed in a way that is not only anti-climactic but also degrades the character's intellect. Either way, it was a terrible writing. I was genuinely pissed by the ending.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Savagery (2021)
Greatest episode I have ever seen
Not only was that battle amazing. You could definitely feel the pain of Levi. This was a wonderful episode. The Eren and Armin confrontation was pretty intense but nothing could eclipse the Levi vs Zeke part.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Deceiver (2021)
For the ending scene (not the post credits one)
That little girl's chat with Gabi and Falco with the ending theme was a wonderful thing to watch. This show is extremely well-written!
Shingeki no Kyojin: I'm Home (2017)
This high rating is after watching season 4
Major spoilers ahead.. so this is your second warning lol
How the little girl that Sasha saved appears in season 4 to confront Gabi who killed Sasha. It is clear that Gabi will feel remorse for killing Sasha soon. This is just a very good level of writing. This one was one of my least favorite episodes until I watched season 4. Never underestimate Isayama!
Snowpiercer (2013)
2/10 because I think I have seen worse
I think this movie was made just to show that social elitism is bad. It made absolutely zero sense. Humanity's survival plan is a train. Keeping people in the tail section while there is absolutely ZERO reason to have them on board to start with and please don't tell me that they need their children to fix the engine. This is BS because the engine should have been perfectly fine at the start which means they should not need lower class in the train and this was a problem that came up with time.
Oh my God watching this was painful.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Brave Volunteers (2021)
High-octane action is not the only thing that makes this show great!
What I love about this show goes beyond the intense battles that we get to see once in a while. This one shows the emotions of the survey corps after Sasha's death, it shows how someone's feelings change (Niccolo is now an actual ally rather than a captive. He actually loves Sasha and the rest of the group). It shows how Armin is contemplating their actions. It reflects the reality of life, no one is an angel and no one is a devil and this is especially true in wartime.
This show is a masterpiece
Shingeki no Kyojin: Declaration of War (2021)
Might be the best episode ever
AoT is the best show I have ever seen, anime or otherwise and this episode might be the best of the show yet. Amazing job by Isayama
Shingeki no Kyojin: Midnight Train (2020)
Another perspective of the world, mind blowing!
It is amazing how Isayama makes you see the world from the perspective of all sides. This show is realistic in the sense that there is no pure evil. Everyone thinks they are on the right side.
I don't have enough words to describe how fascinated I am by this show
The Big Sick (2017)
Absolutely worth it
I am not a guy who is easily impressed by movies or TV shows but as someone who moved recently to the US from a culture similar to Kumail's... I totally related to the story
However.. it is more of a romantic drama than a romantic comedy...
The plot and the acting are just so good
Shingeki no Kyojin: That Day (2019)
Way deeper than I thought it would be
This show is much deeper than your action-packed show that it started to be.. this episode has to be one of the greatest things I have ever watched...
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Basement (2019)
Incredible
This starts to explain the whole plot... incredible.. the start was slow a bit but the ending is certainly amazing.. good enough to take it to 10 for me
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
A 5th grader can write better than this
The writing is absolutely terrible. Writers seemed like fanboys who have pinkish dreams that everyone would live. It made no sense
1. Why would they not light the trench from the beginning? why to send half of your army to a certain death when you have an excellent defensive line of a fire trench. Oh, and how did Jorah superman Mormont come back alive from that mess?
2. How did Brienne, Jaime and most of all Samuel Tarly survive being swarmed by the dead? Daenerys and Jon also survived while facing tens of the dead on their own.. I mean c'mon!
3. The most ridiculous of all, how did Beric Dandarion reach the room where Arya and the hound were just after taking maybe 6 stabs? is he flash or something?
4. Why did Bran warg into a raven? was he too bored of the battle and wanted to take a break?
5. How did Sansa and Tyrion survive the dead in the crypts??
6. Why would the Greyjoys (the treasonous whores according to Roose Bolton) decide to sacrifice themselves for the sake of Bran Stark? Greyjoys are not loyal to their own.
Simply, the writers were too afraid to kill any major character (Jaime, Tyrion, Dany, Jon, Sansa, Arya) and even less important characters.. Game of thrones was the first six seasons.. seasons 7 and 8 is just another mediocre show... If I were GRRM I would be gutted
Shingeki no Kyojin: Night of the Battle to Retake the Wall (2018)
Might be the worst of the whole 3 seasons
Pointless episode.. screaming and shouting and pointless fight.. The fight between Eren and Jean was uncalled for..
The only interesting thing about it is the flash forward from the next season at the end..
Very very very much below my expectations for the season finale
Shingeki no Kyojin: Sin (2018)
Epic
The preshow scene is absolutely epic...
The mid-episode flashback of Grisha vs Frieda is awesome, tense and straight to the point...
The rest of the episode was kinda slow but it is obviously an introduction to an epic battle that follows
Shingeki no Kyojin: Pain (2018)
Excellent episode
The episode was outstanding. One of my all-time favorites of this show.
I loved the tension it brought and the multiple cliffhangers in it. What an episode!
The Levi character is easily everyone's favorite.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Smoke Signal (2018)
Almost a perfect start of the season
Very good start of the season.. The only thing that I did not like is that there was no previous mention of Kenny the ripper beforehand.. such a major character should have been at least mentioned once to add to the "legitimacy" of the character..
All in all, the episode was very good with two very tense and surprising moments
