MH370: The Plane That Disappeared (2023)
90% Wild Speculation
Calling this series a documentary is a disservice to actual documentary makers who set out to find the truth or at least present enough information to allow the audience to come away with their own conclusions. This series does neither. It bounces around from theory to theory, all of which are wholly incompatible with each other, and many of which have to discard known facts about the events leading to the flight's disappearance in order to work.
The main "investigator" Jeff Wise throws out theories that even viewers with no external information can poke holes in. He pitches them with phrases like "how could it have happened this way?" and "is it possible that X occurred?" He comes up with such wild theories that don't match the evidence that even other independent investigators have disavowed him.
There's also a brief interview in the first episode with a woman who claims she is 100% sure she has identified the plane wreckage based on grainy satellite images. They show schematics for the plane on top of her images, which they seem to have added pixels to. Shortly afterwards, we learn that the plane did not go down in that part of the ocean at all, but continued on a different route entirely. This inconsistency is never addressed, and I honestly can't think of a reason why it was left in the series other than to just fill time. It would be one thing if they were trying to make a point about how flawed some of the independent investigations into this have been, but as with Jeff Wise's theories, none of these investigators are ever challenged by the documentary makers.
Mr. Pickles (2013)
Terrible in Every Way Imaginable
This show is awful. I know some people don't like it because they don't like violence or references to satanism, but for everyone else considering watching this show let me tell you: I don't care about those things but this show is still just complete garbage.
The first thing you'll notice is that the animation and voice acting is just terrible. It looks and sounds like no editing was done at all. And yet somehow the terrible animation and voice acting actually looks good compared to the show's writing. If you've seen one episode of Mr Pickles you've basically seen all of them because the punchline is the same every single time: the dog is evil and kills people. Hilarious, right? There are really bad attempts at other jokes in the show, but about 90% of them boil down to "everyone except the dog is a complete idiot." To summarize, every single episode of this show is "the dog is evil and kills people, and everyone else is an idiot." That's the set up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's like the creators of this show basically just came up with the pitch for the show and never even attempted to expand on it. They just re-write the pitch every week, but since it's on Adult Swim it remains on the air. Don't get me wrong, I like a decent amount of AS programming, but they have about 20 terrible shows for every good one, and this is one of the truly terrible ones. Don't waste your time with this awful show.
Talking Dead (2011)
The Most Unnecessary Show on TV
Talking Dead is basically an extended TV guide summary and review but with an annoying host and, for some unknown reason, unrelated celebrity guests who show up to talk about a show they don't work on. Even if you can stomach Hardwick's personality, this show brings nothing of value to the table. If you're able to follow the simple plot of The Walking Dead, then there's no need to watch any part of Talking Dead unless you enjoy listening to random people talk about a show they like. Instead of watching this show, you can actually just listen in on your co-workers discussing TWD in the breakroom but not interact with them at all and you'll get the same experience. That is, unless your co-workers have any dissenting opinions about the direction the show is going, because Talking Dead doesn't feature a single piece of criticism, every episode is a full hour (minus commercials) of praise for TWD.
