Mr. Jones (2019)

Stunning

Finally got round to watching Mr Jones and i must say what an altogether excellent movie it is. A little slow to get started but as the film progresses you realise why, it's leading you to the whole point of the film. James Norton, who I've never really given a lot of thought to , was absolutely outstanding in the lead role and had me engrossed. There's plenty of non speaking non action sections, which is to it's credit, actually giving the viewer a chance to think during the film. Would very much reccomend. I've left some other opinions out as didn't want this to contain spoilers, think it better to just sit back, watch and appreciate what we have.

The. Best. Show. Ever.

Just started re watching this amazing series again, which may be a mistake as I can now see several weeks of zero sleep coming up! Brilliantly written, acted, produced and directed. Faultless from the very first introduction. Would and have reccomended this to anyone who has any sort of interest in quality TV.

The Good Liar (2019)

I'd be a good liar if I said it was great

Without posting any spoilers I would say Dame Helen and Sir Ian are outstanding and pretty much the only reason to watch this. The storyline is held together by a thread. It's not a thriller, just an enjoyable 2 hours of watching 2 acting greats doing what they do best. With a watch for that alone, which is a good job because that's pretty much all there is.

Massive thanks to the film makers for making such a great effort in finding the places and people to tell the story of the great Willie Shankly and the village of Glenbuck.

A story that should be told as sadly soon it will be impossible to tell in the same way.

It felt almost as if a family member had made this film, which is meant as a compliment. In a way it has been made by a family member, the family of Liverpool F. C. A truly heart warming film, made with love and compassion for everyone involved.

Great film but how "true"?

Really enjoyed, if that's the right word, this film.

Fantastic acting from the main protagonists and well directed and written.

It did leave me thinking in quite a philosophical way after, which is the sign of a great film, even though Mohamadou was in Afghanistan and undoubtedly at the time had some anti western thoughts and maybe was involved with the 9/11 plot, does that justify the treatment of him? I think that depends entirely on where you stand on the subject. Personally, i think that this sort of treatment makes anyone no better than the People who have bad intentions or actions towards their so called enemies. Surely the USA and other countries have to abide by the rule of law and what's morally acceptable.

Almost brilliant ( almost)

Having being renamed as the hitmans' assistant on Amazon Prime (not sure about anywhere else) I found this and thought why not?

Having read some of the other reviews I have to agree with the vast majority of them, Tim Roth is as always excellent and certainly takes the movie from probably a "why did I waste 90 minutes on that?" to "that was pretty darned good " There's some parts that don't quite live up to the rest of the film, but overall it's a well made, well acted low budget movie and full kudos to everyone involved in it.

So bad it's, well, just bad

So glad that i only had to sit through this at home, if I'd had to actually part with money i may have had serious words with whichever cinema was silly enough to screen this. A decent cast and what could possibly have been a decent storyline has been turned into a totally forgettable movie. I have just finished watching it and the only thing that i can think of is why Jim Broadbent, just why?
