The Last of Us: Left Behind (2023)
Unnecessarily dragged on.
I don't hate fillers. I find character development like a lovely break from action. And regarding TLOU, I completely LOVED ep.3, for instance. IT WAS STRONG.
This, in the other hand, did not work. I agree with people saying this would've worked in a shorter segment; completely unnecessary to make a full episode out of this.
It could've had this specific character development in less than half an episode and work.
The dialogue became repetitive after a certain point.
Also, why did they show the zombie? At least it would've been a little bit better if we didn't expect the infected to jump out; I analyzed it afterwards: girls are playing in the arcade, walking and talking so relaxed and secure, that the audience would've felt the same way; then the infected would come to ruin everything, and their shock would've been ours, too.
And I want to point out again how much extra dialogue was present. If you're making a whole episode out of this, at least use it to explain more about Fedra or whatever, not "oh so you wanna know what's next?" "OH PLEASE don't abandon me" told differently troughout an entire 1 hour episode.
Continent 7: Antarctica (2016)
Bad reviews are heavily based on personal taste, this documentary deserves more.
This is NOT sensationalized badly. Altough it is definitely based on an "risky adventure" theme, it doesn't mean it was a wrong approach. The Antartica is indeed a vastly undiscovered continent, thus full of risks, tragic events and emotion of success. Artistically, it creates a drama like adventure -many explorers have tragically died because we are yet to discover accurate and high survival techniques while trying to explore the continent.
In a more personal taste, I don't see this being better by focusing heavily on the scientists and get to know them, it's not a scientist documentary. It's exploring Antartica documentary, thrilling, yet very informative scientifically and environmentally.
Better Call Saul: Saul Gone (2022)
Great acting and soul put into the show, but a questionable ending
It's not a bad ending, but I think it lacks and leaves some more to wish for, based on the image and logic someone builds up from Saul, which has been developed cleverly for the first 5 seasons. It feels like the last 3 episodes were heading forcebly out of Saul base essence and suddenly transitioned into scenes bulding up a new Saul.
That's not that bad of a thing though, wanting to show us last a different and "good" Saul.
But I think that a character that well written in full 5 seasons, to sway it out in the half of S6, it's not at all satisfying because we're here mainly for Saul.
We're here because of other things as well, as the soul put in to the show, the casting, the acting, the thoughts. Which we of course had in this episode, that's why I cannot give it less than an 8.
Gonna miss this ride... except the last 3 episodes.
Joker (2019)
This is actually a REAL movie. Brilliant.
I can't even describe how I felt while walking out of the cinema. Feelings that I've not felt in a veeeeery long time after watching a movie, reappeared: Happiness, inspiration, deepness. This movie is brilliant. I couldn't believe that FINALLY they created a masterpiece among all the Hollywood that has been coming out lately. I actually was afraid, desillusioned and somewhat sure that this movie would be again just another generic movie, I didn't believe the critics neither. But I'm glad I was wrong. THIS. THIS is the kind of movies that need to be made!!!
The scenes drew me in like if they were real, they potrayed everything extremely well. Crude scenes were really disturbing, no horrible soundtrack, no horrible CGI, no shallowness.
The acting was incredible too; prior watching the movie I read some other reviews from "professional" critics and they mentioned a lot that the acting was too overwhelming; seriously, WHAT? I think they want some more generic acting or they can't understand what a mentally I'll person actually suffers and how they act. I don't know what is wrong with them, but THIS is the acting that the world actually admires.
Joaquin did a super job and portrayed incredibly well the Arthur to Joker transformation as well as his crude problems.
I'm very grateful that finally we have a real movie.
Absolutely 10/10
It Chapter Two (2019)
Commercial generic adaption of a great book.
Started great, 40 minutes later went downhill. Ridiculous, laughable and not scary at all CGI scenes started to flood the scenes. The movie had some funny moments in the beginning that were totally into place, BUT it took the wrong direction and went being semi-comedy through all the movie where it actually (supposed to be) serious scenes. Horror started to feel semi-comedy, the script was not okay. This adaptation could've been great if they respected the book ATMOSPHERE for the least! I'm not even referring to the book things (which they didn't respect the majority) I'm just talking about simple atmosphere and vibe.
This is just one more mediocre generic movie that wants to sell to the structure that is going to like this kind of trash.
Shame on directors and actors that don't realize or (maybe they do) but prefer way more money over an artistic quality work that maybe wouldn't sell as well because of the, you know, the world's society nowadays who are just controlled by the same thing.
I mean, I know there are movies that still are great, of course! That majority you don't find in commercial cinemas, but, this one is an adaptation of a great book and this is just unrespectful. Not to mention the ending, it was the most ridiculous horror movie thing I've ever seen.
Better Call Saul (2015)
All seasons are awesome.
Those people who are rating the last season 4 low are too shallow. This show is just not for them. If you feel the show original vibe you will feel this season like one of the best. The final episodes are also very interesting. I've read many complaints about the storyline about the german thing and that was actually really interesting because it somehow connects to BB and you can actually see what is the background. Also I think this season focuses a lot on the mental state of Jimmy and how he degrades to be finally Saul, and that's very deep. I think that the people who dropped their rating on season 4 is because they were used to some more emotion in adrenaline or something. This is all about Jimmy emotional state evolving and they are just not connecting with him. If I would not connect with him and see how his changing right in front of my eyes, this might be boring for me as well too. In few words, this season is more close to "Saul" transformation than any other season! 10/10 this show is brilliant in every way. I can't even watch standard TV shows because they now feel too shallow for me..
