Halloween Kills (2021)
Best Halloween Ever
All I gotta say is I'm at the Drive-In and this was the best Halloween movie of the series. If your expecting to be scared don't be scared BUT be prepared for gore and a good plotline! Cannot wait for the next one.
Mr. Nobody (2009)
Warning NOT your regular movie!!!
I don't even know what to say but I wasted almost 3 hours of my life watching this. If it was a good movie then yeah that wouldn't bother me but when I sit there and watch the whole thing waiting for something captivating to happen and it doesn't happen it just really annoys me.
I'll put it like this the entire movie is happening but it isn't really happening no-no everything has infinite possibilities and it is all happening at once in many different ways if you never choose then all choices are possible. Make sense? Probably not. Don't even waste your time...
I will give the movie this the idea was original and is almost nothing like any other movies I have seen. I would compare it to Cloud Atlas if you know what I mean... Something you watch and then avoid because the way it is filmed is not only confusing BUT also not that meaningful.
Essentially think of it like you are not watching one movie but more than one movie with scenes overlapping and showing in between the next scene. Kind of annoying...
Anyways, if you want to watch something just to watch something don't watch this watch a reality TV show or even the news would be better but not this. Overall I'd give it a 2 out of 10. 1 for the terrible filming method/story/idea and 1 for looking fine.
Fantastic Voyage (1966)
Original, Interesting, Skin Deep
Greetings! The Fantastic Voyage (in-case you didn't read the description) is a movie about a team of people being shrunken down inside a nuclear sub to then be injected inside someones bloodstream to remove a clot of the brain. The movie is definitely far-fetched and doesn't go into much detail about where the shrink-ray* came from, how it was developed, or why its effects are not permanent. Anyways, the point is this movie doesn't have a lot of depth to it in plot but it has an interesting story.
Now anyways the movie was released in 1966 which was way WAY before I was born and I understand the effects weren't great back then but this movie actually surprised me. I don't think any of the scenes to me looked like a cheesy old 60's movie. Maybe it had something to do with me watching an HD copy but the actual scenes looked pretty good. The sets were interesting and the special effects looked great.
Now back to the story... so your in a sub travelling inside the human body... most movies nowadays would just show a journey and the destination but not the exact parts of the journey. This movie actually described where they were in the human body, what certain parts and conditions were called (assuming anything said was remotely accurate), and what function a lot of the parts of the body did. The movie was very educational* (again assuming anything said was accurate) and entertaining to watch! I never thought that the space between our blood cells would have another fluid... I always thought our blood was made up of cells moving all together at once which made it look like a fluid not the cells themselves suspended in a fluid called plasma.
Anyways, the movie like all movies has some bad parts to it BUT I'd say like 95% of the movie has good parts to it. The movie also isn't all educational it is entertaining I'd say very different to watch. This is definitely a movie for someone who wants to kick back, relax, and watch something different. Something that isn't like your standard movie nowadays. I only wish we could have more movies like this... the only thing I didn't like is how it ended so briefly. Essentially they went in and then they went out. It didn't really explain much after that which leaves you as the viewer with a lot of unanswered questions.
Overall I'd say 7/10 for effects, 5/10 for plot deepness, 9/10 for originality, and 8/10 for entertaining bringing my total score to 7.25/10.
Poltergeist (2015)
Entertaining to watch, not what I expected
I remember watching the original Poltergeist movies when I was younger and after watching them I could not sleep at night. Idk what was with them but they were truly scary. This movie was also pretty scary but I can go to sleep at night without any nightmares or bad dreams (which I am happy with). It isn't that it was a bad movie it definitely wasn't and if you haven't seen it I would recommend it... but it isn't something I am going to keep thinking about.
If you want to watch this so that you just cannot sleep for the next few days then this movie is not for you. If you want to watch it though to see very cool special effects, get scared when watching it (the first half), and to be engaged in an "original" horror movie idea then this is for you! Original of course being it is different than most horror movies other than its original counterpart. Mostly the movie is entertaining moreso than scary.
The scenes in the movie were very well directed, acted, and edited. I really liked how the special effects were done. The movie didn't look all CGI but it did have good scenes well edited. It also had a good pace to it and I was left with wanting more.
In conclusion, Poltergeist (2015) is a very good horror movie for 'our time'. It has good acting, good effects, and a good "original" story. If you like horror movies this is for you BUT it isn't something you are going to have a hard time forgetting. If you haven't seen it watch it! If you have seen it watch it again as it is very entertaining unlike most horror movies nowadays.
The Gallows (2015)
Bad acting, even worse "Special Effects". B Movie.
I am just going to say I am not happy with the current positive reviews on this website of this movie. I looked at the reviews and then went and saw the movie and it was bad. So actually in retrospect the low rating is correct just the User reviews don't add up... Luckily I went on a Tuesday at my local theater so it only cost me $2.00 for the ticket...
That being said if you are going to see this movie be aware it is a FOUND FOOTAGE FILM. To make myself clear that means the ENTIRE movie is filmed with someone holding a camera pretending as if what they are recording is happening in front of them. Not to say all found footage films are bad just most aren't great. This is one of those films.
The film starts off with someone recording a school play. A scene in the play shows someone on "The Gallows" about to be hanged. Well as you guessed it the lighting goes dark for a second during the play and someone is actually hanged. Moving forward into the film another set of high-schoolers are doing the same play in the same room as the one with the ghost in it. Some people decide to come back during the night to ruin the set and as you guessed it a ghost causes terror on them.
The entire time during the film where the high-schoolers are stuck in the school being terrorized by a ghost the extent of the special effects are that of the camera picture messing up, the screen going dark, and noises being heard. The actual killing I am not going to ruin for you but I can say it has to do with "The Gallows". The actual scaring is mostly jump scares/camera going dark and something being there... Not that scary to be honest with you.
Overall, the way it was filmed just ruined the movie. It's not that it can't be good just because it is a found footage type of film but the way it was done made the movie feel bad.
If I were you I'd skip this film but if you are like me and see it in your local theater and it costs only $2.00 maybe consider watching it if there isn't anything better playing. Anyways I hope this review helps you and doesn't spoil too much of the film for you.
Antichrist (2009)
Terrible waste of time, mostly sex scenes, nothing happens
I can truly say that I just wasted 2 hours of my life. Don't let the actors in this movie fool you. Just because a movie has "good" actors in it doesn't mean he movie will be good. Just look at the budget and the revenue... Now let me explain why you shouldn't also waste 2 hours of your life. This is one of those movies where you are waiting for stuff to happen and the 'pace' to pickup (if you can even say this movie has any) and it just never does.
When you start the movie you are left watching a scene in black & white for 5 minutes that just has some music playing in the background and things going on that you don't need to see (detailed sex scene). It could have easily been acted out in 15 seconds or less and that would be that.
Next, another 1 hour and 25 minutes or so goes by where you are left waiting for something to happen. Now the weird part about this is at this point in the movie someone has just done something crazy... You would think that would cause some interest but the movie is just so quiet and boring that it does not even peek any interest. It isn't until someone is 'running' away and they find something that gives any interest.
Then the last 20-30 min of the movie go by and you are left wondering again is something going to actually happen to make it a movie (at this point does it really matter?)or is nothing going to happen except pictures moving across the screen with some sound... Well you guessed it nothing interesting happens. Sure something happens to someone but even then at this point in the movie you are probably wondering why you even bothered to watch it and are just so bored it doesn't even mean anything.
I don't know about you but when I see a title like 'Antichrist' I think about something scary. This movie isn't scary nor should it be titled anything to label it that. If I had to name it I would pick something that describes the title as quiet, boring, and a lot of sex scenes {IF you watch it you'll see what I mean).
Anyways, I am not that great at writing reviews but I thought at least for this movie I would try to write one because someone deserves to see a bad review so maybe they might just not watch it like I did.
The Last Push (2012)
What A Way To Waste 84 min.*
Simply put this movie is boring. Nothing interesting happens and don't expect it to happen. What you see in the first 20 or 30 minutes of the movie is essentially all you are going to see. I wouldn't bother watching this film ever again nor should you. Don't bother.
Anyways, to summarize his film for those that want to know. A problem happens on a Space ship while traveling to Venus to slingshot to Europa (one of Jupiter's moons). This source of this problem is never fully explained.
One guy dies and the other guy is left alone to live in the Space ship for 3 years on his own recycled flavored poop. He decides to abort going back to Earth and the movie ends.
The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014)
Boring, Underdeveloped, Not Scary
This wasn't really the movie for me or my Mom... and it reminds me why I have not since watched the first movie. In terms of scare and story it is just lacking. The film itself looks great but looks don't just make a movie great. If it is a horror movie you need scare and a good story. Essentially the scare part was missing from the movie and the story in my mind wasn't very good, detailed, or well explained.
I remember looking at the clock 2 thirds into the movie and nothing significant had happened and I was wondering if something ever was going to happen. Not really the best way to create suspense in a movie by having nothing happen for most of the movie.
In conclusion, if you are expecting a lot out of this movie in terms of scare I wouldn't bother. If you want a story with lots of detail and explanation I wouldn't bother. If you want a film that looks great and makes you want to explore an older home... well then this might just be the movie for you... Not really a reason why I would watch a movie personally but that's your choice.
