Jack Ryan (2018)
Heading downhill
Season 1 was excellent, season 2 was good (until the end), and season 3 was a poorly written story. The writing is gravitating to dime store quality books. The action is still good but the plots are becoming implausible.
This last season's plots twists were forced and squeezed to try and keep the story coherent, failing utterly.
The character development and excellent story from the first season is long gone. Now the bad guys are caricatures. Overturning governments, killing national leaders, raiding foreign vessels, helicopter assaults deep into Russia? ? ? This is more James Bond than Jack Ryan. Hopefully season 4 behind things back to earth.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Disappointing
Somethings should just be left alone. Clearly Hocus Pocus is one of them.
After waiting for 30 years for a sequel that should've not happened, this is what the studio came up with? Hopefully this dull and poorly written film will go the way of the A Christmas Story sequels and not be rerun over and over to ruin the legacy of the original. At least the sequels to A Chritmas Story had Jean Sheppard's material to draw from.
The script is thin and the Sanderson sisters gags are forced, lacking the humor, creativity, and spontaneity of thw original. The movie missed and missed badly at some chances to expand the Hocus Pocus universe. No Binx to create a thread to the original. Max & Allison could've married with children to also create that link to the original. Swing & a miss.
All in all, a poorly scripted story with forced acting by the Sandersons made this a bad movie.
FBI: International (2021)
You've gotta be kidding me.
The spouse was channel surfing and stopped on this gem. I held on hoping the episode would turn around and redeem itself but it got worse, not better. After the credits I left the room to gouge out my eyes out and jab skewers in my ears.
Please take the phone away from the middle schooler who is sending in these scripts. Make it stop.
Garbage dialogue, wooden acting, silly & predictable story lines. FBI agents running around Europe being self-righteous, ugly Americans. If they're trying to be "edgy" you've only succeeded in being caricatures of how the world sees Americans.
This is what goes for TV drama these days? No wonder people have abandoned broadcast television.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Best if movie not seen or heard
Had potential to fit in with Hilll House and Bly Manor and other Netflix horrors but failed to build tension or fear. Melodrama about a failing marriage with some mild paranormal intrigue. The ending seemed rushed and incongruent. Made no sense. A wasted opportunity of a solid cast. The actors are probably embarrassed by the final cut of this film. Script was predictable and soft. Skip it.
Expedition X (2020)
Destination Xcrement
The duo Josh Gates has sent into the field couldn't find sand at the beach. I wish it was better but it's not interesting, not entertaining, and not worth it. Time to reset big guy and get a new team.
Expedition Bigfoot (2019)
Hilariously bad
These so-called researchers couldn't find cow at a dairy farm.
The science is as fictional as the Finding Bigfoot nonsense. It's just astonishing they find nothing in the forest at night while they crash around with flashlights and walkie-talkies. The tension and drama are more fake than the evidence they purport to uncover. How do these guys keep a straight face when doing their lines? It's unlikely but there might be something out in the wilderness but please, these guys will not be the ones to document it. Don't waste your time unless you are just bored to death.
Outside the Wire (2021)
Lame
Almost immediately reminds you of those pitiful 80s action movies. This one has too much in common with those with a terribly poor script, ridiculous plot holes, and bad character development. The weak attempt at social commentary was another nod to the 80s movies . Fighting and combat sequences were good as was some of the special effects but overall this was a mess of a movie that didn't where it was going from start to finish.
Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Junk heap
Sad money grab by the studio cashing in on a decent franchise. Terrible script, incoherent plot, anemic characters, just God-awful. Actors cashing in too. Anthony Hopkins must've lost a bet to get roped into this mess. Do NOT buy, do NOT rent. Avoid like the plague. You've been warned.
