Albarsty (2017)
9/10
A scary tale of an evil spirit
23 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A scary tale of an evil spirit. Albarsty are Central Asian evil spirits that visit humans in sleep.

There aren't many Central Asian horror movies and the cinema industry has been in decline since the Soviet Union collapse so really good to see this well made movie with good acting and directing. Definitely recommend it.

A good one but not as good as the first one
24 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I love all types of CGI movies, as long as they have high quality CGI in them I will watch them.

I enjoyed watching this movie. Yes I should admit that the music and directing weren't top notch and it wasn't as moving as the first one but still if you like sci-fi movies you will like it. Just lower your expectations.

Everything is relative, if this movie with this type of special effects was released 10 years ago it would have been amazing.

We are so used to big budget movies with spectacular scenes that we want bigger, more breath-taking, more fantastic, more whatever instead of just enjoying a movie in the present moment as is. Just watch it and stop comparing and judging.

I am looking forward to a sequel, based on the clues given in this movie the next one supposed to be simply fantastic.

American Dad!: American Fung (2015)
Season 10, Episode 14
2/10
Probably the worst American Dad episode
4 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is probably the worst American Dad episode ever. I adore American Dad and I think it's funnier than Family Guy but this episode is terrible.

I understand the idea behind it i.e. an Asian billionaire buys American Dad show and turns it into a wacky show but wacky doesn't necessarily mean stupid and horribly implemented, it can be so well done it would've been hilarious but somewhere something went wrong.

Doesn't mean I'll stop watching the show, there always a bad apple in the bunch, one episode is better than the other and when they contrast each other it makes watching other episodes more enjoyable. So bad episodes are OK but only once in a while.

Childish dialogues, weak directing but beautiful to watch
2 June 2016
The only thing that makes this movie watchable is CGI, it is a good quality CGI, and if you ignore all its drawbacks like bad directing, and dialogues that I guess were written by a 12 year old then you might actually like the movie. Just don't be too judgemental and enjoy it as is. I can definitely watch it once a year.

Now if CGI were of poor quality like in The Asylum movies e.g. Transmorphers, Mega Shark etc then forget it, this movie would've been one of the worst I've ever seen.

A good CGI is saving this movie From being the worst I've seen Poor directing, conversations are goofy Critics will flash their grins.

An Instant Classic!
8 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Thank God I never had to pay for Netflix, I was offered a second trial month. It may be good for people who like TV shows, I only care about movies. It takes more time to find a movie to watch than actually watching it.

So based on high IMDb rating I decided to watch The Best Offer. Turns out it is one of the best offers Netflix has to offer. I enjoyed every moment of this film. Acting was impeccable, scenes are set perfectly, the movie flows seamlessly from the beginning to the very end. It should be and probably will be taught in film schools on how to make a good movie.

Love is probably the only feeling that is still beautiful when faked just like forged works of art.

I Origins (2014)
8/10
A thought provoking movie but somewhat inaccurate
4 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It's a nice, thought provoking and sad movie. I know this is just a movie and many things are done for cinematographic, artistic purposes but if anyone is interested in inaccuracies in this movie, here they are.

(1) In her subsequent reincarnation she won't be afraid of elevators because of how she died, she died very quickly so she didn't have time to realize what happened. If a person nearly drowned they will remember this experience and the fear of water MIGHT be carried into the next re-birth.

(2) Reincarnated people can be very different biologically, it's a totally new physical body with different fingerprints and eye patterns, they don't bring in any physical features from previous lives.

(3) Souls are not reborn immediately after death except probably for newborns, some children and some rare cases in adults. Usually for adults it may take anywhere from tens to hundreds of years to get reborn. A person sheds their physical body when it's damaged or worn out, after that soul's new body is an emotional body made out of our emotions, experiences. After that it's a turn for a mental body. When the mental body wears out a soul will be reborn. So it takes time.

And here are accurate pieces of information (1) Yes all souls will be eventually reborn except for those who achieve full enlightenment - they can also be reborn if they choose to but regular souls don't have a choice, they are forced to. There are various degrees of enlightenment unless you are fully enlightened you will still be reborn.

(2) Yes you can be born in another country, have a different gender or you can even be reborn into another time. Time for reincarnation is not linear, if someone dies in 2016 it is very possible to be reborn in 1634 or 2342, it is unpredictable - the notion of time exists in our three dimensional physical world, the Universe is timeless.

(3) Remember the scene with 11.11? Yes this is how karmic laws work. Our world is full of false and true signs you just have to know which ones are which and interpret them correctly.

The Holiday (2006)
9/10
This is my Christmas movie now
16 April 2016
I watched this movie several years ago and this month I got a free trial for Shomi which is a video streaming service like Netflix. As soon as I saw The Holiday was there I wanted to watch it. I didn't remember much, the only thing I remember that was very romantic. I don't really like romantic movies and I don't know how I got to watch it in the first place, but I really liked it. After having watched it the second time, I decided this was going to be my Christmas movie, the movie I will watch every Christmas :)

Then I decided to read on IMDb what people thought of it hoping to find at least 7.5 rating for it and was disappointed by negative reviews. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a very nice movie that makes me happy, I watched it second time and it had the same effect as years ago, it leaves with a very warm feeling. Acting is good, I love the music in the movie, how the plot evolves, I love the dialogues - it's almost perfect.

Don't waste your time, don't watch this movie
2 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Movies supposed to inspire, entertain, be thought provoking, funny and this is what for I'm prepared to pay.

Some might say that this movie is thought provoking. I would agree with this, but the thing is that I see that every day in my life - my friends, neighbours, family members getting fired, getting new jobs, I see lives being destroyed, new ventures being started etc. Why would I want to pay for it to watch it on a screen? It's a good movie from the technical point of view i.e. the acting was good, directing, music, but it doesn't have substantiality, it's like watching the world go by. Sit in a coffee shop for 2 hours, watch people pass by, talk to each other and there's your movie.

So find something useful to do instead of wasting it on this movie.

Probably the best kids show
2 April 2016
I don't know why it says for kids age 5 to 8 when I think older kids definitely enjoy it too.

Not only kids, but also adults find it hilarious like me for example.

And agent Oscar is the funniest.

I think he won an award for this role.

I don't watch/like most kids shows, but I always watch this one whenever I can.

The acting is great and as I said it's just hilarious.

And also Ms O is funny.

And all other actors are funny.

A Classic of the Future
5 August 2015
Whoever gave this movie less than 7 can't see the future. It's like a Quentin Tarantino movie of the future. Mark my words, this movie will become a classic in about 10 to 20 years. It has a different feeling to it that's why so many people thought it was a bit off, but a bit off was the time difference, not between the continents, but in real space- time continuuum.

Martin Mcdonagh can see the future or his vision is that of the future, well not too distant future, but still future.

I enjoyed every moment of this movie, the acting, the plot, directing was awesome.

I'm giving it an 8 just because of Arnold
3 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Arnold was the only character who made this movie watchable.

Imagine this movie without him. Imagined? Now smell the air, it smells like a huge steaming pile of something.

I'm really disappointed in the cast and casting, I don't blame the actors, I blame the director.

Sara Connor was played awfully, Jason Clarke was a little bit better and Jai Courtney was somewhere in between.

Lack of facial expressions, poor dialogues, same old stunts and special effects.

Thank you Arnold for keeping this movie alive!

Harvest (2011)

I'm sorry for those who rated this movie less than 8
2 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I quote this movie as an example to other films. There are other movies that maybe more visually appealing than this one, but in fact are much much worse than the Harvest.

From the cinematographic point of view this movie is so wonderful! The character development, the whole underlying subtlety of their relationships, setting the scene, the dialogues etc everything is so beautifully done in this movie.

You can show this movie in your cinema classes to portray the development of characters and love relationships.

Too bad very few people see it the real value of this movie.

Five Dances (2013)
4/10
It's not your typical European gay movie
2 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry I had to give this movie 4/10. It started off very nice, with some background story of the main character told in a subtle way, some development, but as soon as I saw the scene where they get intimate for the first time, I knew it wasn't worth watching it. The first contact is very important, there should be a whole story of both characters leading to the intimate interaction - glances, sighs, movements, gestures etc. The whole story leading to that moment can be a lot more intriguing, beautiful and spectacular than the moment itself.

Here it had no proper character development, one sided approach, all of a sudden one of them starts groping another one and after being groped he consents to being kissed! What!? This is very vulgar. It's like you give a female co-worker a pat on her butt-cheeks and then she doesn't resist kissing you.

No matter how the movie evolves after that, the movie is lost to a more or less sober and mature viewer.

If you want to know how to develop a character, how to build characters, the plot, the scene i.e. everything that leads to the first contact you should watch Jongens, Stadt Land Fluss, Freir Fall etc. Watch how it happens in Stadt Land Fluss from 51:00 to 55:00, how nicely it is done, it takes 4 minutes from the aha moment to the actual interaction, how nicely the actors played, how the scene is set up, it's just so wonderful.

Now I know why I like Italian cinema
25 June 2015
I rarely give 9/10 let alone 10/10.

The only movie to deserve 10/10 from me was Avatar.

What makes a good movies a good movie is good music.

Music in this movie is impeccable.

So is actors' play, the plot, and everything else.

A masterpiece of its genre.

What else can I say: Bravo! You should watch it for it cinematographics!

And IMDb should reduce the number of lines it takes to publish a review. Some movies like this one don't need much to say, they need to be enjoyed without saying a single word.

OMG one of the worst movies I have ever seen
23 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It's like someone who has never written anything in his/her life, and has never watched any other movies, haven't observed any more or less decent relationship to develop and grow has decided they can shoot a movie. It felt like I was reading a really bad essay on love written by an 8 years old. This movie should not even be allowed to be rated on IMDb or any other websites whatsoever. I'm really sorry to whoever made this movie because you had obviously invested time, money and efforts in this, but seriously you should read more about making movies and relationships. As soon as I heard someone being in love in just 3 weeks it was a sign of a bad screenplay. I am sorry to give this movie a 1.
