John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Not the best in the series
The action scenes and fights are like a Hong Kong kung fu played at half speed. Not only are some of the fights slow but seem extremely and embarrassingly choreographed like a slow dance. Very unfortunate. I was really looking forward to watching this instalment. Not sure if the rumours about a fifth show are real. My advice if they are is to quit while they're ahead. The first two shows in the series were very well done. Great plotting and good dialogue. Show three began to fade a bit but was quite entertaining for various reasons. This fourth do not had the higher standards of the previous shows.
Van Helsing (2016)
Don't waste your time
The producers seem to be simply capitalizing on the 2004 movie which was quite good. The acting is painful to watch, particularly with some of the support roles. The script is terrible. The series seems to be a cheap knockoff and leaves you wishing that you'd spent time somewhere else, doing something else. Even the lead female actor delivers something less than entertaining. The best part of the show is watching and listening to the vampires. They don't require any acting skills and can be laughable at times. The major vampires try hard but over-act, are cliches, and are quite dreadful. I didn't make it past S1E5. Does it get any better in later shows and seasons?
Mayans M.C. (2018)
Last season is dreadful
The first three seasons were quite entertaining. They were full of individual character development and interesting subplots. We particularly enjoyed the relationships within the cartel, story around the wife and cartel leader, and resulting related developments. The stories within the clubhouse scenes were flat, childish, cliche, and predictable. Sons of Anarchy series is as different as day and night. By the time series 4 starts, the Mayan series heads downhill very quickly. I'd suggest stopping viewing at the end of series 3 to end on a positive note and avoid the embarrassment of one-dimensional and dreadful acting and an even worse script.
¿Quién Mató a Sara? (2021)
Terrible script
Script is very badly written. So many holes in the plot lines and the acting is terrible. You'll want to skip this one. The series just doesn't make any sense. Even the gratuitous sex scenes can't save this show and really have no place in the subplots.
The story line isn't terrible but has been handled badly and mangled beyond redemption.
The show should be watched in original language with subtitles if needed.
We really couldn't make it to the end. The extensive use of stereotypes and cliches is insulting to the intelligence of the viewers. There's no reflection of reality here. The dialogue is terrible. Enough. No more please. Someone take the writing tools and filming equipment away from these directors, writers and producers. Their products are embarrassing.
Hunters (2020)
Deadly waste of time
Al Pacino's Hebrew accent? Yikes, it's really bad. Script-cliches and really bad. Give this a miss.
MasterChef Australia (2009)
By far, the best
By far, the most authentic and entertaining cooking reality show in Australia. Excellent and knowledgable chefs and food critics hosting and judging. So much better than other shows in Australia and around the world.
My Kitchen Rules (2010)
Reality, not food
This is a very disappointing series. It's not a show for foodies or wannabe cooks, but it is about the personalities. For the past two seasons, I've wondered how the judges actually selected the winners. Very subjective and disappointing.
The Walking Dead: The Damned (2017)
Boring
This show was boring, confused, and very uninteresting. Don't get me wrong - i'm a fan. But come on. This was probably the worst show of the entire series. I really hope it picks up in the rest of this series. It starts with very dull close-ups of the key players, and then ends that way. In between, who's fighting whom? Why are some of the gang walking around in the bush? The script is really stretching this out and, guys, you are losing the interest of the fans. Next week's show will, I hope, move the story ahead.
